A friend and I made an impromptu hike here to close out our trip to CO. Absolutely beautiful and a solid workout, though probably not the best idea to go in unprepared (i.e. bring a snack and enough water!) We went up the mountain, which was fine but definitely required some breaks to catch a breather, them decendes into the valley. The way down from the peak was tricky having to find your footwork through the steep rocks, but once you're in the valley it is a total treat!

This was a nice quick hike! We brought along our doggo and there were many shaded areas to stop and rehydrate.

Hiked this on 7/21. Was very beautiful. Hiked up in the dark to get above lower Blue Lake for sunrise. It was amazing. Eventually got up to highest lake. Wildflowers not as profuse as wetter years but they were still great.

Other reviews capture this quintiessential Colorado hike. Majestic views, turquoise lake, rewarding hike.

Good hike and close to Boulder. Start early - you can either do out and back (starting clockwise) or loop (starting counterclockwise). First .5 mile of counterclockwise is flat, wide, gravel. The rest of it is a lot of switchbacks and exposed, so wear sunscreen and start early.

I usually don't have to stop and I took a few breaks this time. Great workout and doesn't take too long. Start early!

One of my favorite hikes I've done. I'd say it's more of a moderate / little hard hike. The last part is the gnarliest, long stone steps to the top, and a little scramble up a waterfall before reaching the top. Bring a rain jacket or windbreaker. The wind is pretty crazy.

Gorgeous hike - highly recommend.

Start early and start at GG trailhead..

Did this hike last weekend and loved it. I'd say it's a moderate hike - hardest part is the length. The trail is covered for the most part which is nice in the summer. Start EARLY - I got on the trail ~9am and there was already little to no parking. Definitely worth it.

very nice ! beautiful views all over...

Good, rocky trail through limber pine, Engelmann spruce, and sub-alpine fir. It was pleasant except that already by half-way up we counted 8 poop bags and 3 unbagged dog .poops.

The lake is beautiful! It can get difficult at points on the trail but nothing too crazy. We are 30 year olds in relativity good shape and didn't need to take any breaks. The amount of people going up and down will give you quick breathers as you go. Highly recommend this trail!

Wow this hike was magical! Had to get off the trail a few times to let elk pass by, the views are incredible the entire hike. I would do this hike again!

This was a hard hike. Straight up and very rocky

This was a dream hike for me. I had been wanting to make this trip for a while but thankful I waited until I was in better shape. This trail winds past Alberta Falls ( stunning) and up to Loch Lake. In the distance you can see Timberline Falls where you will need to traverse the falls. This girl does not do heights very well but with a push from my dear friends and hiking partners and the kindness of a stranger lending me hand a up I was able to see Glass Lake and my goal of Sky Pond. This was truly a beautiful hike. It took us 8 hours to complete this trek round trip, we spent time at each lake taking in the beauty, because why would you not? We are in the 40ish category and in decent physical shape. I would put this closer to 10 miles and a decent elevation gain.

First of many hikes for my 9 yo son and I. I agree with the other reviewers this is not an easy beginner trail. We did make it up, but I was not expecting as much rock as there is. Especially right at the beginning. Having said that, it’s a beautiful trail and was definitely enough to trigger the hiking bug in my son.

Lake Haiyaha is simply breath taking. We chose to head to Dream and Emerald Lakes first as our hiking friend had never been. We then back tracked up to Lake Haiyaha. The trail is well marked and can be a bit rocky. You will come across the 1st pond but this is not the prize, continue on up to the actual lake, you will not be disappointed. Climb over the boulders and let yours eyes soak up the beautiful colors of the lake. Would love to hike again.

Four star hike with 5 star views at the top.

Arrived at the trailhead at 9:15 on a Sunday. Plenty of parking and very quiet ascent. Coming down (around 10:15) parking was full and there were several groups heading up.

This is a quick hike because of the short distance but I would not rate it as “easy.” The incline is persistent and the terrain is very rocky at times. I’d definitely recommend hiking shoes.

Breathtaking views in all directions at the top!

Some hard steps in the beginning then trail. Bikers are hard core as they pass!

I have been wanting to do this hike since I moved in November 17 and finally made it out that way today!!! Pictures do not do this place justice. Not only the lake but small spaces the entire way up as well as spouting rock! The blue jays were on point as well as some chipmunks which were cute but sadly way to use to being fed

Great Views. Only complaint was that it was very rocky so it was challenging for the dogs at times.

fun hike! we only made it as far as lower blue lake due to some issues with the altitude, but it was gorgeous nonetheless! the trail opens up to some beautiful meadows along the way and once you hit a space suitable for camping you have arrived at lower blue lake. would love to go back and make this a two day trip. the road out there is easy to maneuver and it definitely gets crowded pretty early. highly suggest this hike!

one of the most beautiful and fulfilling hikes i’ve ever done - every step was truly so worth it. definitely get started early to avoid the crowds. it was nice to have the lakes to ourselves for a little while before a lot of people started showing up. if you want a great “rocky mountain experience” this is definitely the hike for you. couldn’t recommend highly enough.

One of my favorites. Great hike with the best views at the top. Barely any traffic near sunset and would highly recommend for out of towners (like me).

Rocky but moderate hike. Summer 2018 Crater Lake is more like a pond but we burned the calories so we could eat more great food in Aspen.

Good trail with a nice challenging climb. Maintained well and easy to follow. The entire hike was a steady climb uphill, not many places where it leveled out. This is perfect practice for beginner hikers who want to hike a mountain at a higher elevation. My husband and I got to the trail head around 8am on a Saturday, only 2 other cars in the parking lot, and saw only a few people on the way up. On our way down it was much busier, saw many groups coming up and the parking lot was very full. I’d say if you are looking for a peaceful climb, get there early. It was a cloudy morning and very windy and cold at the top, storms were moving in. Even with the cloud cover the views were great. Will most likely do this again on a sunnier day.

mills lake was awesome...hike is fairly crowded, but a lot better once you get past Alberta falls...the lake and landscape is a must see!

A beautiful walk! Very easy trail which allowed us to truly enjoy all of the different types of vegetation in the area :)

Excellent trail! we did the first leg to the peak about 3 miles. mostly open until you start the climb. Climb was challenging over rocks, right turns. Peak had amazing views. Took Lion's Lair trail back down and this leg was mostly paved but a long 5 miles or so. Overall a really nice park in Boulder with several interesting trails.

This was the perfect hike for my wife and I’s first time being in Rocky Mountain National Park! Get there between 6:00 and 6:30am. We arrived around 6:45 and there were no more spots to park. However, we found a small parking lot for about 10 cars a 1/2 mile before the trail head so we just walked up to the trial head. Scaling the waterfall is not as hard as some people say it is if you are in good shape. It’s fairly easy, but I see how it could be difficult for those who aren’t in great shape. The view from the top was breathtaking. All Trails says it is 8.1 but it around 9.8 according to the map at the start of the trail. Also, if you are worried about being the only one on the trail with all the wildlife in RMNP then this is the perfect trail for you! I think there were in sight of my wife and I almost the entire hike. It took us about 2.5 hours to go up and 1.5 hours to come down. We highly recommend this hike!

This hike was amazing! My 7 and 9 yr old said it was the best part of our vacation. The lake and waterfall at the top are so worth the effort, I highly recommend this trail!
