Beautiful setting. This is set as Easy however parking is a bit tricky and it's a pretty steep climb to get to the glacier. Was pretty slick with all the snow, will go again in spring.

I just moved here and found this hike a little challenging because of the altitude. the trail is pretty packed down so I did it in tennis shoes with no problem. a lot of people brought sleds that looked fun! I took a lot of breaks but the view was great.

Awesome hike! Went up in November 2018, trail was pretty icy / snowy but could hike it in sneakers (did a lot of butt slides on the way down). The fire tower is well worth the hike and then the climb when you reach it.

Getting to the trail head was very very bumpy and slow moving in some spots.

Perfect. Yak tracks or microspikes help but not required.

For someone not used to the altitude, this hike can be more challenging than most people have rated it. It’s short, but fairly rocky and steep. Combine that with the altitude, and some breaks may be necessary. Once you reach the top though, it’s worth the effort and you’ll probably want to hang out for a bit. Beautiful hike, but don’t underestimate it!

Went on a fresh snow day. It was stunning great views wildlife and moderate traffic. Under the snow there was packed ice but the drag snow kept the walk stable without having to wear spikes. Snowshoeers were out and about. I’d definitely do it again!

What a fun and spontaneous hike! Although a family could very easily make a day out of Dinosaur Ridge. There is a visitor’s center below, and a brief trek to the trailhead where you can stop and fill up on Dinosaur facts and the history of this area’s landscaping. Continuing up the ridge, the trail becomes more mountainous, and perhaps steep in a few locations. My 7 year old and our small dog were easily able to navigate the, at times, rocky path and completed the hike to the top. The peak provides ample near 360 views of Colorado’s awe inspiring landscape. Red Rocks amphitheater is across the way, and the ridge is near off the interstate. There are many mountain bikers, so hikers, be prepared to pull over and say “hello!” on this fun trail. (Hiked: March/2018)

Great variety of terrains.

1/10/19 The Rim Rock section was dry and easy to navigate. Creek bottom has lots of muddy spots and black ice. I took trekking poles and my heavy duty hiking boots and still fell. Be careful coming down the stairs near the dam. They have black ice with a dusting of dirt. I fell down several on the way down.
Saw lots of deer and turkeys on the rim rock trail. It was a pretty hike just beware of the icy spots and mud on the creek bottom side.

Great hike for the entire family! We battled 40+ mph winds and still had the best time! Can’t wait to do it again. We hiked on 1/4/18, completely snow-packed but made it even better. Kids slid back down the trail almost the entire way!

very easy walk with beautiful views in some locations.

Easily accessible from I-70 and quick to get to if you live in/around Denver. I just woke up Sunday and decided to go hiking...20 minutes later I was on the trailhead; from downtown. Great views for a trail so close to the city. Family friendly. Lots of mountain bikers.

Beautiful!

Great easy hike with our 6 year old. A bit of ice, snow, and mud in areas but not bad at all for January! The weather was in the 50’s and we wore short sleeve in the sun on top of the rim and winter jackets below in the inner rim in the shade. This hike must be absolutely gorgeous in the warmer months and we will definitely do it again!

We did this trail end of July. Trail itself is rocky and steep but the reward is an amazing view of the lake and glacier. Hike up the glacier for more amazing views! People were sledding and skiing down the glacier!

Went to the top where it levels out today - used spikes for more sure footing but could be done without them. Such a beautiful, warm day!

Hiked 1/5/19: Very beautiful/easy short hike with a few side overlook trails! This is a very busy trail with all ages but surprisingly had the most wildlife I’ve ever seen on a hike! I saw deer, rabbits, birds and TWO BABY BOBCATS! There was quite a few people who witnessed the two babies but the mother was nowhere to be found. A gentleman in the crowd said he would let the ranger know! Also, once park capacity hits it’s one car in one car out. It was at full capacity by noon. $8 park fee! Totally worth it!

A little icy and snowy in some areas, but plenty of parking and a beautiful hike.

I love this easy hike for short winter days, when you really want to get out but don't want to deal with ski traffic in the high country. The trail was really quiet today except for a few out-of-towners. Folks please remember to pack in and pack out your trash. I noticed a few used Kleenexes and food wrappers tossed along the side of the trail. The scenery and wildlife here is too beautiful to be so careless.

I was able to jog this up and down in just running shoes with a little caution. It’s gorgeous in the winter! Make sure to go the extra couple hundred feet to sprouting rock.

Good cardio hike near Denver. "Castle" is a bit of interesting history.

Fun hike near Denver. With half the population of the front range. Parking can fill up early.

Well marked and nice scenery. Keep watch for cyclists.

Easy peasy with nice views. Gentle trail running.

Best hike ever!

easy, beautiful but not well marked.

Very beautiful after a light snow fall.

About as easy of a hike as you can get near Estes. I took some elderly family members here during the holidays. Dont come here if your're looking for a real hiking experience or any amount of solitude. Id say its a great hike for families or elderly people/small kids.
