The trail has beautiful views. It’s a bit narrow, but overall worth the hike.

This was a fun trail that runs parallel to the San Joaquin River. we had heard there were caves you could visit but accidently over shot them and ended up at a cool bridge. Found the cave on the way back. It is a genuine cave you can go back into but it is really steep to access and my 9 year old couldn't do it. If you want to look down into it, it's at a bend in the trail with a little pond. you can hear water falling and the echo from it. Also saw a cool little racer snake by the caves.

Perfect little trail for everyone... Great for kids and dogs! No trash can though, so I had to shove my dirty cup into my backpack.

You start off going downhill then you guessed it, all up hill lol I wouldn’t rate this trail “easy,” would definitely change it to moderate

This trail was filled with wildflowers, and the bridge provided great photo opportunities. It was quite warm today, so heading out early is helpful. I parked in a separate parking lot nearby, as the parking lot closest to the trail opening was full. It's helpful to bring your own water, as I didn't notice anywhere to drink from. There are a few outhouse style restrooms.

Beautiful trail. So many wildflowers during this time of year. I would recommend coming early, as there is very little shade and not a lot of resting spots.

Super relaxing walking trail along the riverside. My dog enjoyed the refreshing cool drinks from the river along the way. Clean and well maintained trail. No trash can on the trail. Only one at beginning of trail. Remember to pack it out with you

it was a great day to hike with friends! it was a little warm, so I wouldn't do it much later in the year. (87* in the valley). This is the 2nd time I've done it, and would go back.

Nice safe and clean trail. Easy trail, great for beginners, on my “out of breath scale” i give it a 2 out 10, so not that strenuous. Also its 5$ entry, cash only, also national forest pass don’t get you in.

Trail was not well marked. Ended up hiking straight down. Probably should have gave the map a better look before starting lol. Beautiful scenery and lots of wild flowers. Hardly anyone on trail. Dog friendly, my pups had a blast!

Beautiful walk today with Chet. Lovely wildflowers in blues and whites and yellows and reds. The trees are blossoming and everything is green and lush. We actually saw about 12 other hikers on the trail which is more than we have ever seen before. We hiked this trail on Christmas Day (2020) and previously in the Fall of 2020. Now we have hiked it in Spring and it actually was quite warm. I can see where this would be a very uncomfortable walk in the summer. But it was just gorgeous to be on this trail today. It felt like hope!!

Beautiful wildflowers right now. Probably wouldn't do this trail much later than the end of March, unless it's cooler. It was pretty warm and soon it will be dry. Fairly busy trail.

Beautiful - we thought it was pretty easy, but did come back tired. Really nice hike . Water and beach area was stunning but cold! Submerged anyway!

HikingFeeGreat!

Initially going to the caves but decided to continue and ended our short trip at the Big Sandy Creek Bridge. As pointed out by other hikers, do not follow the sign for “river access” but go to the locked double door- gate and on the right, there is a small gate to enter. Follow the paved road which will lead you to the caves and if you continue, it will take you to the Sandy Creek Bridge. The weather was perfect and the whole place was blanketed with wildflowers. This is the best time to visit. You will not be disappointed. On the way back, we followed the path to the Bridge instead of going back the way we came. It was even more beautiful. If you have the chance to do this hike now, this is the best time to do it. I know, I’m repeating myself but I’ve come during the much warmer weather and it is not the same. We took many breaks for photos and it was worth it!

Good trail. Just make sure you choose the actual trailhead (its near the gravel road by the power facility). We ended up on a detour that was nice but ate into the kids energy and I ended up putting them on my back for most of the trip back.

Lake looks like it could be a nice place to hang out for an afternoon, but the hike (really more of a walk, mostly through picnic areas and the like) wasn't much to write home about.

Wildflowers were absolutely gorgeous, and there were very few people even on Saturday morning. Trail isn't tough, but does have some steep sections. Also, from my experience, don't forget to check for ticks when you get home!
