Totally worth it! TH parking had only two spots left on a Tuesday at 830am so get there early. Also be prepared for the usual hiking chaos, no dogs on leash in particular. Most people masked up on passing, very few people going up, slightly more coming down at 2pm but remarkably not crowded. *Also note they have put up many NO PARKING signs all along the road leading up to the TH parking lot and beyond that. My guess is they are pretty serious about people not parking on the road if the lot is full so keep that in mind.
Good workout. Probably slightly better views if you go further into the Gorge, but this is a great option relatively close to the city. Lots of rocks and roots, wear good shoes and watch your step. Not as busy as I expected it to be. Started at 2pm on a Monday afternoon.
Great views of Columbia Gorge. Parking gets filled pretty quick on warm days, but plenty of roadside parking.
Excellent hike, but very busy. Arrive early to easily find parking.
Was a great trail. I would rate it as “hard” though. My kids and I do “moderates” often and this one was much more rigorous for all of us. We did it make it to the top though and it was stunning.
Hot af barely any shade but worth it!
Gorgeous
The views are beautiful ! Went for sunrise and it was breathtaking. We got there early like 5:30 and the parking lot was already filling up, the trail was well marked, but I do recommend taking hiking shoes if you have them. It was harder than I thought it would be but I am not in great shape, there were people who were zooming past us. Either way it is still very doable and very worth it
Awesome. This was my third hike of the day. I was already tired, but still trekked on. Wasn't too bad. Yes there are sleeper inclines, but luckily the the trail one way was a little over a mile. Definitely doable. As suggested I parked up top and walked down the dirt road a little to the trailhead. Being a weekday, there was only 5 cars in the middle of the afternoon. No crowd.
short, well maintained, paved walk. nothing too exciting, great view of the mountains. ADA accessible, bathrooms are open and nice and clean, there’s not a lot of shade.
My twin 10 year olds and 8 year old managed to make it to the top but not without some serious whining at points. This is a butt kicker of a hike but I enjoyed the views and the wildflowers, butterflies and wildlife along the way. We parked up the road and got one of the last spots at 10:30am today, so keep that in mind when you plan to visit. Definitely a lot of people on the trail, but everyone was nice and I’m so Covid deprived of interaction outside my family, that I didn’t mind it a bit. It made me happy to see that people are enjoying the outdoors.
Great hike. You have to walk down a gravel road for a bit, the trail is only marked with a stowaway weed sign. When you get to the top, make sure you see both views from each side.
A nice heavily trafficked trail in the gorge. When I say heavily trafficked, I mean it. Up and down I lost count at 150+. A good amount of space up top to grab a snack.
Warning this was moderate for a frequent hiker/fit person..HARD for an out of shape hiker, like myself. It's a nice view of the gorge, however for the climb I was hoping to see unicorns or something I can't view below. Overall, I felt accomplished. Just be prepared.
Good, pretty well maintained. Better than it was 45 years ago
It took us a second to see the beginning of the trail. We ended up driving down the gravel road and found two small pull out areas right next to the trailhead. It is only marked with a stowaway weed sign but once you get down the road a bit you can see it pretty clearly. Definitely a steep climb and very rocky with a lot of branches and fallen trees from the most recent wind storm. Once you get to the top though it’s totally gorgeous and worth that uphill battle to see the view.
Nice trail. Having the map downloaded helps out a lot. There are several forks, and it’s not always clear which way you need to go. But other than that, it was a nice hike. I was surprised to see one other couple about 1/2 mile from the trailhead. They were going up and I was going down.
Really beautiful hike!
The rocks underfoot killed my feet. I thought my hiking boots were good too! This might be an easy hike for a lot of people, but for an out of shape beginner like myself, I felt like I climbed Everest! It was amazing getting to the top! So glad I pushed through!
Awesome time of the year to be here! Flowers, green moss, small creeks, trail not super dusty.
Great park overall with plenty of activities and exploring possibilities. Lots of kayaking, SUP, fishing, bird watching, picnics, and forested strolls along the brook/falls. Bathrooms are finally open. Overflow parking is a street over from the Alltrails TH.
