It was my 2nd hike ever, it was great, we made it to the summit and back in less then 1 hr 50 mins

It's a pretty walk!

We walked this trail on Monday. It was a clean trail with nice scenery, but darkness crept up on us and we ended up getting lost, so we had to go back the way we came. There are a lot of different marked trails so don’t be afraid to go off the trail marked by GPS. It’s definitely getting more and more muddy so be careful!

It was a beautiful fall walk through the woods! We explored through a couple unofficial trails, met some nice dogs, and generally enjoyed the fall colors! The main trail was well maintained and there wasn’t any trash around, so altogether good walking up, down and trough the hills.

Great hike but pretty steep! Beautiful paths and scenery. Great workout!

I take my toddler to orting all the time for the foothills trail. We have explored a few parts of it and there is still so much more to see and experience. Cool river view points and an awesome view of Mt Rainer.

A well maintained and clean walking trail. Multiple picnic tables and benches along the way. Great for families of all ages.

Beautiful small trail! Good for a morning run 

I was hoping to see a few spring flowers, but I guess it's too early. Trail is mostly flat. The loop back is rather steep. I'd recommend a walking stick.

Lots of fun to take the kids on. Part of the trail was closed due to construction. But, we still got to hang out by the creek and have a fun easy going morning. Not to busy on the trail, only saw a few people along the way.

Love this trail for jogging with my kids who bike while I run. My daughter doesn't like pedaling up hills - she's fine with this trail as it is flat plus I get my Mojo seeing the Mountain. You'll be able to see and hear the rushing water of Carbon River along a portion of the trail.

This is a busy paved community trail that is perfect for jogging or strolling. No hiking gear is needed.

Easy and flat, great for my young kids. we parked further away than necessary, lesson learned as it was still quite a hike to the first river access. Fun watching all the fly fisherman and their catches. Our kids loved the cold river and so did our Lab.

Very clean and open. Wide pathways that are paved!

Good little hike. It is short, but pretty steep. As others have said, not much of a view at the top, but good resting spot. Pretty much all in the trees, which my dog appreciated. I will defiant go back, makes for a good hike when I don’t have all day.

Super pretty trail! Harder than I thought it would be but it was a great hike

Great little hike to get the blood flowing. I made the hike with an 8 year old and a three pound puppy. It was a little more than I anticipated but not overly difficult. The summit was a let down but it’s still a nice walk in the woods.

Great trail right in the middle of town! The trail is marked with signs, so very hard to get lost! Part of the trail is closed due to construction but I loved it! Lots of old growth gives you plenty of shade but remember your bug spray!

Nice trail in the middle of town! This trail was more challenging than I expected, which is a good thing! I thought it would be too easy. It is a nicely shaded trail, a little bumpy and narrow in some spots, but overall pretty clear. I was using the app for directions as I walked, but I still went off the trail twice. There are some pretty steep spots, so be careful. There's also a little 6 foot bridge. I will definitely be walking this trail more often!

Nothing too exciting. If you like mazes this trail would be a great choice!

Great little walk for little ones.

Lots of bikes- good amount of shade. If you start at trail head given here in Orting, you can go left towards the Safeway which is 7.5 miles to the Puyallup trail head with lots of farms and runs along 162. If you go right, it's 12 miles to Buckley with lots of shots of the river and pastures. Both ways offer good views of the mountain. Smooth, easy ride with more stop signs and road crossings than I like. Still a nice ride or walk regardless.

great for all ages and activity levels! check out the beach and enjoy a shady pleasant walk in the woods

Nice trail to walk with the dogs. Tree-lined, paved path with a good amount of foot traffic, but it’s typically not overly crowded.

This is a very nice trail, except it's easy to get lost. I would not consider it easy with all of the steep hills. I did love it, except not knowing what direction to go.

I seek out greenways like this all over the US and Canada when I travel for work hoping for a place to run without having to dodge distracted drivers. I would give this trail a five on a scale of one to ten. It's relatively clean and well maintained but as several other reviewers noted, there are always a few frightening people along the way and there are some homeless people living along the fringes. There has been a different stealth camper in the parking lot every morning when I arrive. I have run it three times in the early morning without incident but I wouldn't recommend it after dark of for a woman alone. A police bike patrol would solve this shortcoming.

All in all, it's a good trail for a run when you're short on time but it's not a destination.

Well marked from the gatehouse. Great moderate challenge for those wanting to step up from easy. Saw flowers, lizards, and one massive bird of prey. Mostly shaded so good for a warm day. Only saw one other person on a Monday in July.
