Loved this. First time out. Didn’t know about it until All Trails. Peaceful and well maintained. Had to turn around early due to a meeting, but I will be back.
Well marked loop with a few short cuts.
The first 1.5 miles is beautiful and I agree with the easy rating. However, if I were to do it again, I would have stopped at the church cemetery and turned around. The last 2 miles weren’t near as beautiful. They were also a tougher hike. There were switchbacks due to the steep hills and fewer bridges, so you had to navigate mud and creek crossings. I think these feature make this hike in the moderate range.
Not many people at all for a beautiful Saturday. Which is great in my book. Pretty views along the water. Also along the creek. As some hikers have noted, the middle section does appear that it was burnt. It would be a mess during or shortly after a rain.
1st part is very nice. 2nd half is a high school gravel track.
did at least 6 miles on a loop of white orange purple and yellow. don't know why it stopped recording
Beautiful walk along the river and at the end. Middle section must have been burned recently, much more difficult to follow markings. Rained the day before so lots of mud through that section.
It just kind of ends there in the middle of the woods, a perfectly logical turnaround. Saw one other person on the way out, few more on the way back. Just you and the woods, and at times the river. The boy scout bridges are cool, too.
Awesome
Nice quiet cool day on the trails. I didn't see anyone on the trails. It is cool with a drizzle though
5 star easy
Some places were moderate and some sections easy. It did not record correctly
Good, kid friendly hike.
Awesome rainy run. The power settings on my phone turned off my run halfway through :(
I’ve noticed a lot of you complaining about “development” negatively effecting the trail. Corps of engineers owns this land and every so often they have to clear cut due to pine beetle infestation. The loggers are actually saving this forestry. I’m family of the operation, so this information is coming to you first hand. When this is over the trail will return back to normal with time.
New signposts at every trailhead, color coded for each trail you are on and each you cross. There are QR codes at the trails you can scan and learn about the trail system at Sutallee
Is good
Easily accessible parking lot. Trail seems to be recently marked slightly differently from the AllTrails map, possibly due to the area mid-way which is clear cut for development. Most of the hike was lovely. The trail is narrow in places, and a bit hard to see with the leaves down, but not too difficult to follow. Muddy in places (I didn’t expect the rain last night). Several places to cross ditches/creeks with no bridge but not too hard to do without getting your foot immersed. The end point/turnaround is in a very pleasant valley with a gurgling creek.
Great for kids of all ages
Fun short hike with the kids. Only took about 35 min and the walk through the woods was fun.
