Solid workout! I was trying to find out if the trail was okay (not too soggy) after the rains and I can report they are in great shape. There are some loose pebbles, stones, rocks as you come down the trail if you start on trail going clockwise at starting point. All and all? Great workout and nice views. Had a tour of at least 40 people to pass. That was an all time first! Haha! All good tho!

Trails in Trump golfcourse. Beautiful views down by rock beaches. Waves crashing, multiple trails.

We had two hours spare before brunch so quickly shot up here for a hike. You cannot bring your dog unfortunately, however, for a busy hike, everyone was friendly and the views are quite good for such a short city hike.

Great view at the peak!

Gorgeous views of city, mountains and ocean! Enjoyable trail! Areas of the trail have loose small rocks, so sturdy hiking boots and poles recommended.

I love this hike, however, today there was a man on a mountain bike with a machete clearing a hiking trail so they can start mountain biking on this single track. Then on another part - where the backbone meets the Murphy Ranch trails there were 5 mountain bikers speeding down the trail and it is clearly marked NO BIKES. Hoping that Park Rangers can get out there and clearly mark that this area is no bikes. Bikes are permitted on the road all the way out to Camp Josepho.

easy, quick hike

Definitely Recommended !!!

Uphill and downhill terrain. Quiet on weekdays and beautiful views.

If you’re trying to get a good workout in, take the stairs! Some steps are high but the workout is so worth it. If you aren’t used to the elevation, be careful. I came back from being in Texas for 4 years, tried to run up these stairs and almost passed out. Lol. The view is beautiful. The trails are fun too. Wear some sturdy shoes, some areas of the trail are smooth. A lot of holes too.

The views were absolutely gorgeous! You can see all of LA! Breathtaking truly! Don’t miss out. It’s mostly uphill so it’s def a great workout. I ran pretty much the entire thing. Make sure you’re wearing gripped shoes cause on the way down there are a lot of rocks you can slip on!! Just be careful and enjoy!!!

Not very challenging, but do not underestimate the stairs. My buddy was dying on the way back.

Kind of hard to find the entrance. A lot of interesting graffiti everywhere. Very green right now.

Wide open fire road that offers no challenge other than the inclination.
Almost no shade.
The rock itself is cool.

Great hike good mix of easy and hard course depending on the routes you take

Just 2 miles from Trippet Ranch in Topanga State Park, lies this impressive slab of sandstone rock. I’ve been on quite a lot of hikes with some pretty rad rocks and I must say this particular rock formation is a new favorite as it had me quite entertained for a good amount of time. It has mini like caves that you can climb through and lots of nooks and crannies to simply explore. I came here the day after the rain and it had small water ponds in different pockets of the formation giving it a bit of a dessert oasis feel! On the bottom left side of eagle rock also lies this random tree surrounded by grass on the rock, it looked so beautiful in contrast to the sandstone rock. This area definitely looks accessible but you have to do some downward rock scrambling which got a bit complicated at one point and I decided not to take the risk for now and try another day with a friend.

A little backstory on how I got here. I actually took the Los Liones Trail (Pacific Palisades close to the beach) to the Parker Mesa overlook and from there I started the long and scenic trek towards Trippet Ranch/Eagle Rock which was about 4.5 miles inland. I think most people simply drive to the Trippet Ranch/Topanga State Park parking lot and then hike 2 miles to Eagle Rock.

I definitely want to come back here and bring a big group of friends!!

Believe it or not the graffiti (an the unique graffiti house at the bottom of the trail) is the highlight of this trail. Make sure you do the loop clockwise. There is a gate (more like a break in the fence) to the left just at the beginning of the loop. Go through this gate a walk down lots of steep steps. Make a left at the bottom of the steps to continue along the trail. If you choose to do the loop in a counter clockwise fashion you may have trouble finding the steps to go back up (the entrance was not so clear and you have to climb up a ton of very steep stairs. I would definitely recommend doing the loop clockwise.

Nice hike! It had nice views, and you felt like you were getting a good workout as well! Recommend!

WARNING The entrance of the loop (not the starting of the whole route) is not obviously and can be easily missed!

I thought if I kept walking on the paved road I would eventually go into the loop and loop back, but that didn’t happen. Not until I walked 4 miles did I realized I was probably off the track because the while trail suppers to be 3.4 mile and I haven’t seen repeated scene.

When I walked back in darkness, I checked the map and saw two open parts on the fences under my flashlight, and there were staircases going down. I suppose that’s the loop... it’s really not obvious and clear, I’d suggest everyone to check their map if it’s their first time here, and maybe read the graffiti on road, though there were also misleading ones like “truck —>” and pointed to the cliff.

Other than that, it’s a easy, mostly-paved route, and the scenery is amazing!

Nothing much to see and many people. Still a nice easy hike!

Peaceful and easy beach stroll!

Good for baby’s first hike. Shady enough.

If your looking for a scenic yet relaxing hike, then this is the place to go. I went with a friend and we enjoyed it very much . Nearby parking is at Trumps golf course (it's small lot, but hopefully you can find a spot)

If you ever want to hike, get a small work out and explore? this is the place to be. Murphy's ranch and all it's history, you will find a cool trail that will lead you to a gate fance. you can either go down the stairs to the broken road, make a left and just follow the loop all the way around the site. 2 miles of wonderful views !
I recommend this hike at night time.
I did it last night with my group.

Easy trail to the top, or a more challenging set of stairs. Either way, you'll reach a nature center and great views of the L.A. basin. Fun quick workout.

Beautiful & peaceful! And lunch @ the date shake shake a tasty bonus!

There was a bit of construction going on near the entrance of the trail since there are new houses being built, but the hike is really worth it. Lots of interesting scenery and without a doubt, that all the abandoned houses will have graffiti on them. Only thing I wished to see more was some trail markers, me and my friend had to go by trying to find spray painted arrows to try and find out where we wanted to go.

Easy/moderate hike and gorgeous view !
