We completed this hike on the way up to Tuck/Robin lakes. We definitely want to come back to the campsites here -- you get such a beautiful view of the water and mountains, but are safely nestled in the tall forest trees. It's pretty busy, but I'm sure if you continued around the lake you'd find some isolation. We're definitely coming back to do this again.

Great hike on a beautiful day right after the first snow. I agree with the other reviews on it not being all that easy. it's reasonably steep but worth it.

First time on this hike and it was worth it. The road is bumpy and lots of potholes. The trail was only a half a mile up from the parking lot. Incline is steep but not super challenging to get up. There was a layer of snow coming up the road and some snow at the top of the lookout. I’d definitely be going back again. The view was clear and crisp up there.

had a great time. alot of water on the trail but it is November so expected some.
crossing the big streams was challenging but didn't stop us

Easy ride, not much elevation gain, no steep drop offs but LOTS of hikers. The lake itself is beautiful! Would definitely recommend going on a weekday when there may be less traffic on the trail.

The road up is long and bumpy, lots of washboard and potholes. Beautiful fall colors on the mountainside on the drive up. Maybe 15 cars at the trailhead on a Friday afternoon, but only saw 2 other groups on the trail on the way in. Many other trails and destinations that use this same start point. The trail is more of a walk than a hike, mostly flat with mild inclines. Forest and greenery along the trail, few fall colors. Several stream crossings. Lake is stunning with lots of sandy spots. Saw many parties coming in while I was leaving that looked like they were planning to stay overnight. By far one of my favorite hikes for a quick trip in to a beautiful lake.

I’m a beginner, I’m a gramma and I’m overweight. I practiced by working my way up to 4.5mile walks around home. Took me 2 hours to get there and 1:40 to get back. Beautiful every step of the way. Gorgeous lake and mountain. My phone said 9.6 miles and 24,450 steps! No Fitbit just the health app on the phone.

Gorgeous view at sunset!! I used google maps, which didn’t take me far enough along the road, although I figured it out based on others reviews and continued going - but I also had WTA directions on the well, which are accurate. Took me about 35 minutes to drive up the dirt road in my Dodge Neon, and about 25 to drive back down - it’s a bit bumpy, but nothing impassable at all.
The trail is steep but very short, and has great views. The lookout was locked when I was there, but I sat on a little log looking bench for about an hour and watched the sun set. Gorgeous, and for such a small effort!

Lots of beauty here. Thimble berries still out. Fleabane daisy in bloom. It's possible to get wet in the lake water is warmer than expected. Trail is in great shape. No one was staying at the lake everyone was headed further up to alpine lakes. Great easy day hike for a picnic. The 10 mile dirt road is in fair condition with beautiful fall colors coming into view on the mt. sides. Love this place in Sept. NO bugs at this time. Frost in the morning at 31 degrees.

the directions in the app are wrong. takes you to a place along the road to this trail that isn't correct. continue to the very end of this road, total 5 miles from first turn off. this hike is easy yet a little challenging. easy because it's so short. challenging because it's a steep hike up the whole way. very worth it. the views are amazing!

Great hike for my puppy and me, great view too!

Great, easy hike. Lake is absolutely beautiful, could spend the whole day there. Took German Shepherd and wasn’t quite enough to tire him out.

Pretty views through the whole trail, but randomly ends. Took German Shepherd and incredibly difficult walking back down the trail, due to rocks and steepness. He loves the creek, if I went back I would hike about a mile in and stay at the creek.

Super easy hike to an absolutely gorgeous view!

Fun hike for the family today. Garmin watch clocked hike at 10.38 miles and we did hike in 5 hrs 3 min. Minimal mosquitoes near the lake but otherwise nice hike. Trail is dry and in good condition. No snow. Trailhead parking lot was very full but it was Labor Day weekend.

I've been a lookout here for 18 years. never a dull moment.

I did this trail on the way to Tuck and Robin Lakes. Very easy access to the trail which means tons of hikers. Everybody is nice that I met but the bathrooms are closed here at the trailhead so plan for that.

The trail has many small stream crossings so waterproof boots would help a lot. I counted three large camp sites at this area (trailside) and I'm sure they're more if you managed to make it to the other side of Hyas Lake.

Beautiful place and if you are looking to get out with minimal effort, this is the place to go.
Just take your time and look at the wild paintbrush in bloom through the meadows

Happy Hiking y'all.

also did this via the Knox Mountain Trail. The road is sketchy for the last few hundred feet so a high-clearance vehicle is mandatory. Ran into groups of people from four different trails

Incredible views! We went on a Sunday morning and only saw two other people hiking the trail. It’s a short trail but straight uphill. The lookout was open and staffed with volunteers. The road up was well maintained. Definitely worthwhile!

2 bear sightings on 7/9!
Overall, wonderful hike. Slightly overgrown in some areas but easy to navigate through.
Came extremely close to two different cinnamon bears on my way down the trail and was forced to stand my ground with my dogs till they backed away.
Most bears I encounter just run away as soon as they see my dogs and I, but not these ones! Keep your eye out!

Challenging terrain but well worth the effort! 360 degree views from the top. Mt. Rainier, Lake Kachess, 3 Queens, Mt. Stuart and more. Bring bug spray!

It was a beautiful day for a hike in this area, not too hot for late July. We clocked 6.6mi/2589 ft elev gain, it took us about 4 hours round trip. The first 2 miles are maintained and steady incline. The next 1.5 miles was a little grown over in spots and several downed trees to climb over, but plenty of wildflowers. If you push on all the way to the end there are beautiful views of North Cascades to your left, Mt. Rainier to your right and a few lakes below.

This hike is easily one of my favorites. Red Top lookout is windy! But the trails leading to Agate beds were beautiful and filled with wild flowers blooming. The trails are overgrown in some areas but I think that's from the lack of hikers the trail has seen this year. Definitely a dog friendly hike.

Great trail for all ages and abilities, at the lake the trail splits off in many directions for you to either find your campsite or wander through someone else's if you just want to sit by the lake. there were a lot of people over the weekend, a few horseback riders, and many dogs off leash.

Great minimal elevation backpack trip! Skeeters were a bit much till you get past the marsh area, but were fine at the lake. Site was large, clean and has a wilderness toilet near by.

This was an easy and fun hike. The lake is so beautiful! I would give it 5 Stars except the bathrooms are boarded up at the trailhead and there's tons of people. lots of great camping spots and spectacular views!
