Beautiful and not that difficult trail. I finished in 5 hours. The views are great! Lightly trafficked is an understatement, there was nobody on the trail.

Hiked on 10/29/18. Fall foliage is at near peak color and absolutely gorgeous!

Fun trail and beautiful views

Loved the view of fall colors throughout the hike!

Lots of fun to follow the wash up, and the Hiker's Staircase and Devil's Hall were amazing sights. Spotted a tarantula and a few deer.

Tons of fun and amazing views! I had to wade through the river at the very beginning to get to the incline, and then the canyon itself was so beautiful.

Short easy trail, beautiful rock formations!

Very interesting hike along the base of the mountain along a washed out river bed. The Devil's hall and the stairs leading to it are quite a sight. Great for those who want a hike without much elevation gain.

Didn't get to complete the trail due to high level of water, but the canyon was pretty. It was also pretty hot even when going early in the morning.

Nice hike on a warm day, interesting rock formations that look stairs.

Lovely hike, took my 9 year old nephew and he loves it! Very scenic! We went in fall and the colors along with the nature and wildlife was totally amazing!

Quick walk that gives you a taste of what the longer hikes have to offer. Nice views of the window but better ones can be had if you opt for a more difficult hike or possibly the patio of the restaurant.

I may have timed it just right, I had that trail to myself, not another human all day. A different type of hike because much of it follows a dry wash (dry when I was there at least.) Be sure and include this trail when visiting the area.

Nice hike. Beautiful views. It doesn't get difficult because of the huge boulders you have to climb

Easy hike. Great views of 1500 ft cliffs.

I like this trail, the further you go the better the views. Around mile 6 is when it gets spectacular and just gets better all the way to mile 9. Didn’t see a single person for the entire 18 mile round trip :•)

This hike was really cool. The park signs say it’s 4.2 miles and it took us 3 hours to complete it. You walk through a pretty rocky river bed but it’s not very difficult, just a lot of rock climbing. We saw some deer and lots of lizards along the way. I recommend this for people who want to see the mountains but don’t actually have time/want to climb them. We really enjoyed it! They view of the mountains is great along the way and the devils hall view is great too!

Excellent trail hike for a day trip. Not so hard, but challenging. The wash was amazing. The views were great. I recommend this hike.

Nice walk next to and through the dry creek bed. It is pretty rocky and you aren't always on a trail. so it can be slow going at time. The end has some great views when you are down in the canyon and the staircase at the end is fun, it is somewhat steep, so just use your hands. Not many people on the trail at all.

My friend and I are both in our 50s. We hiked this in the fall. This is a very beautiful trail but I would consider it hard. We had incredible views and saw several maples that were in the prime color of the fall season. About half of the trail was on the creek beds and we climbed countless boulders which left us quite tired and sore. The “staircase” scared us a bit-the stairs were too narrow and slippery for us to get good traction so we climbed along the ledges on the cliff by the stairs. This trail is stunning but also a bit daring. At our slow pace it took us six hours.

Beautiful trail we awesome views. Also hike the Tejas trail to look down on Devil's Hall for a truly great site.

A great short-ish jaunt. You will see parts of the park not seen from peaks of El Capitan or Guadalupe. Worth it if you have a few hours to kill. Can be done much faster than avg hike time if needed

Beautiful sights and fun hike- especially towards the end!

A must see when visiting The Big Bend !!

Very easy and nice trail. Ends right at a little beach and you can walk out into the river. I highly recommend it

Relatively easy hike, coming up to the canyon is pretty awe inspiring to see the huge looming walls. The hike into the canyon is pretty cool but its along a well established path on the side. You don't have to wade through any water unless you want to at the very end of the trail.

Starts with a six mile drive down a dirt road to get to the trail head. The road is an improved road, which means no 4x4 is necessary but can be bumpy due to the washboards. The hike itself is easy for the first 3/4 of a mile, but the last bit requires a little bit of a climb. There are markers that guide you once you get into the rocks and the foot traffic is evident enough that you can see where to go. The 360 view at the top is pretty cool and the balancing rock is cool to see. Although, I thought the rock was gonna be bigger than it actually was. Overall, a fun easy hike if you are in a time crunch like we were.

Most beautiful place yet. did this hike along with Smith Spring last year and cant wait to return.
