Hiked this in August 2020! Decided to camp a little ways in before making the treck all the way up South Sisters. Left at 5am. Was one of the most challenging things I’ve done but would do it again! The view is BEAUTIFUL!
We hiked to no name lake and back. Decided to hammock near the top and that was a horrible idea because it was FREEZING and very windy at night (even during the summer) Hike was worth it though! Such a beautiful lake
This hike was recommended by angel.
This is an amazing hike. Would not recommend the Devils Rest loop unless you have snow shoes. I’m in good shape and had to turn around due to the snow. Snow not withstanding I highly recommend this hike!
Mid-February hike. Trail was ice for the first couple of miles, packed snow up to the A-frame. Microspikes were necessary and sufficient. By the A-frame, needed snowshoes. Trail is hard to find in the wooded section after the A-frame. Just head towards Pollalie Canyon and walk up-slope till you emerge out of the forest. Started to get windy by the time I got to the Cooper Spur shelter. Then, it got _really_ windy and had to turn around after running out of rocks to shelter behind. In one word, WOW!
Easy trail for advanced hikers, steady elevation gain through forest to a rocky craggy summit and one of the best views of the rogue valley.
I did it on 2/6/21. It was snowy right from the parking spot. Definitely get snowshoes and even with that we had soft snow , which was tough to walk as we were sinking almost 2/3 ft every step and it's tough to hike. Also, the trail is not well marked and it's easy to get lost. The first two miles are steep and under treeline but the views opens up after that but the snow gets deeper too and you need to be very careful as you might just sink in 3 ft snow and land your foot on a rock and twist your ankle.....Start early as it will take a lot of time to do. Have fun out there.
Decent snow above the shelter, but below tree line.slushy at the bottom in the trees.
Snow was pretty good up top but had to walk the last mile or so because of a thin base. If you were to go past the CS hut I’m sure you’d get some good ski turns in! Overall good trail to follow and beautiful winter day with good friends!
Beautiful clear day, brought snow shoes but didn’t need them. Stunning views in every direction.
