Hiking

Steep, lots of stone stairs, very well-maintained there were a few trees down. The waterfall and the rock are amazing. Lots of cool moss and lichen

We have hiked this trail several times, and we always go up to the rock, then continue up to the grassy pasture area, but today we got to the pasture, and there was anew sign that said "No trespassing, trail closed." I thought they were actually working to continue the trail up to Bear Wallow, but it looks like they have decided to close the whole pasture section to the public. Other than that it is a favorite trail. Nice views, a great little hike.

HikingGreat!

Clearly, Conserving Carolina has invested a lot of time and effort in keeping this trail up. Marked really well. Nothing technical, just a lot of elevation gain. Beautiful hike, highly recommend! Get there early on weekends and holidays as (convenient) parking is somewhat limited. I so appreciate the access to this trail (free) and how well kept up it is!

Great trail! It’s a climb to the top but well worth the climb and so much to enjoy on your way. It’s definitely a moderate plus and it’s longer than 3.5 miles but most of the journey is shaded until you get to Wildcat Rock.

There weren’t any water falls more than a foot tall. Definitely do it counter clockwise. There was a portion on. Dirt road by some houses but just keep going. That was the southwest side of the loop.

My family And I just hiked the yellow, turned left at blue till it turned to red and headed back. It was a nice hike but be careful of a few fallen trees and poison ivy that really sticks out onto the trail. My youngest, who is almost 3, was able to hike this with almost no problems. Definitely bring water and snacks while you hike. Not a lot of scenic views but still very nice area.

Beautiful, well maintained trail with a little bit of everything! Gorgeous flora, pretty streams, a mild waterfall & a nice overlook at the top. Definitely a workout on the way up - lots of stairs. Shady all the way and some mud in places. Overall a great way to spend a morning.

Steep and sometimes angular, lots of high rock steps, but beautifully built and well maintained. Part of the Conserving Carolina network. Kudos to them!

The initial switchbacks are the hardest part (not hard, just harder then the rest). Once you get past that it is a lot more sloping and gentle hills and paths. Really beautiful, nice streams and waterfalls.

One of my favorites. The trail is so beautiful and you experience so many changes in scenery along the way. The rocky parts can be challenging but it’s a rewarding hike.

Well marked. A bit narrow in a few places. Took Yellow to Blue to Orange. Arrived at Big Rock...no views... bummer. Well built trail with creeks nearby a good part of the trails I took. Will return in Fall and take the Red trail to Rattlesnake Knob and hopefully get a view

This trail is closer to 4mi according to both Apple Watch and alltrails recordings. Otherwise has unbelievably nice sights of water, mushrooms, berries, wildlife, and a view at the top to boot!

What an awesome trail system! There are tons of options for which routes to take, depending on how long or short of a hike you want to do. We did almost the whole system, for a total of about 6 miles in about 4 hours. Our dog had a great time, and there weren’t very many other people on the trails. There wasn’t much in the way of scenic views, but the forest was beautiful, the creeks and little waterfalls were really nice. Some of the little side trails were a bit overgrown, but not impassable.

Nice trail! Easy parking and obvious trailhead. A little overgrown in a few parts and very buggy near the water, but it was so peaceful and pretty. Strenuous at first, but quickly moves into better intervals to give you a good workout without being overwhelming. To follow the trail markers go: yellow, blue, white, yellow, blue, yellow (sounds more confusing than it is!)

Trailhead is across the street from the small parking area. Well maintained, easy to follow, decent climb through the forest to the big rock. No major vista and road noise throughout. It started to pour when we reached the top. Walk back was a bit slippery.

This trail has great views and an insane waterfall. The second half is mostly rock climbing but the first half is pretty easy. Warning!! Prepare to get wet! By the way I’m 9 and this is my opinion.
