Really beautiful, clear trails, open woods. Delightful!
Spotty mask wearing and minimal courtesy among the unmasked
Little wet in some places. Nice walk.
This is one of my favorites especially seeing Narrow River and the line of pine trees.
Icy but gorgeous
Great walk, some icy spots, but overall really beautiful
Longer than AllTrails said. More like 8 miles
It was really fun and has lots of beautiful trees and streams
Amazing
A scenic, paved path around the lake area. I prefer trail runs but pavement run wasn’t too bad. I am new to the area and this seems like a good place to work out, run it offer even a stroll around the lake. It was clean, lots of people around and all dogs were in a leash which was appreciated. I also noticed people enjoying on the bike trails too. I started at the beach access point, if that helps.
Muddy, lots of thorn branches, trail is wide enough and marked, overlook is pretty but not much else here
Wet muddy
More of a walk than a hike. There is really no altitude change to speak of and the footing is all flat unless you go down to the water. That being said, there are some spectacular views of the ocean and a lot of wildlife. The deer are used to people and let you get pretty close. My mileage for this walk looks too long bit I went around twice.
One of my favorite birding spots in the whole area - I’ve now officially been here every season and it never ceases to amaze me! It can be more heavily trafficked at times but the small parking lot ensures that the numbers always stay reasonable. Today (late February) we had some muddy and icy trails but the ducks were out in numbers! We had common loons, brants, horned grebes, scaups, common goldeneyes, buffleheads, black scoters, American black ducks, common eiders, and red-breasted mergansers!
We hiked the orange loop (8 miles) on 2/21/21. The parking lot looked pretty full on arrival, but we hardly saw anyone else the entire time that we were out. It took us about 3 hours to complete. The trails are well-marked and easy to navigate. It was a very beautiful hike to do in the snow! It would also be good for trail running during the winter with the proper footwear. There were some people out with snowshoes and skis, but we managed just fine with warm hiking boots. *I would actually recommend against the use of skis on this specific trail as I saw some people struggling with them in certain areas.
Very nice trail. I found it to be moderate to easy. MicroSpikes definitely helped. Orange garb is required as you could hear hunting in the distance.
