Great trail. 7 + miles round trip with all side trails. I’ve run the loop a few times and it gets hilly in spots. Great trail

Walked the full loop for sunset and ohhh what a glorious spot it is to soak it in. Trails are well marked, coastal, plenty of parking, out house, and then there’s the wagon on the hill.

Great spot for a good view and history lesson :)
Trails are short and easy - good for all levels, all families and furry friends.
Went at 3p - two other groups there, younger, smoking marijuana.

flat and easy

A beautiful winter hike. definitely need some spikes in step icy slopes. good views, varied terrain, and different ecosystems. wonderful.

Fabulous hike! I definitely recommend at least bringing microspikes if not wear them. The fire road is very icy. Boulder trail was clearer than the fire road but still could have used microspikes today. Beautiful views and the rock formations are amazing! Makes you feel quite small next to the boulders! Came across a few people out free climbing with mats on the boulders.

Great place for running/CC skiing, walking dogs or simply rambling. The terrain is wonderfully varied with open fields, rolling hills, tall pine woods and a very scenic ridge along the Merrimack. Epic at sunset. I wish the trails were marked; tough to navigate the 1st time.

Is the road to the trail always closed??

Very icy but a beautiful trail that leads to a river and waterfalls!

Fun little hike! Really cool cliff/boulder area at the top. Good views out toward NH as well.

very nice well maintained trail with clear markings all the way to the top!

Beautiful trail, probably gorgeous in the fall. Gets real muddy, so watch out after a rain, it'll be a squishy hike. Gets better as you go uphill. The yellow loop around (south side main loop only) took us a couple hours with slow going due to mud and parts where the trails were really poorly marked so had to double back a couple times. Map helps but like other folks mentioned some of the markers on the map are a bit off. Lots of doggoes!

Great trail conditions with a beautiful waterfall.

great trail network in the city...doesnt even feel like youre in portland. beautiful marsh and falls. great spot to bring a dog..
lightly trafficked. good trail running and potential skiing

Awsome really works great!

easy,hike. enjoy hiking in their

Beautiful - did three loops if it. Well maintained.

It's a very pleasant place to walk. The AllTrails app makes it easy to know where you are and how to get back to the parking area. As mentioned in the description, the rhododendrons must be spectacular in season.

This is one of my favorite fall foliage hikes, great for small groups looking for an 8 mile scenic trail walk. It can be a little muddy at times during the rainy season but makes for a great snow shoe hike in the deep of winter!

Wooded and river. Be sure to check for tides.

When I did this loop yesterday, the distance was 5.7 miles. There were some detours around fallen trees and a number of flooded trails that added to the hike. The trail was well marked for most of it. It was a little tricky finding the way around some of the flooded areas and a few fallen trees. I broke trail for about half the loop so it should be easy to follow now, just follow the snowshoe and footprints tracks in the tricky areas.

lovely autumn hike. currently a beaver dam prevents passage via loop, unless you've got waders on, but still a great hike.

very enjoyable walk through woods and marshlands (under restoration).

Very nice, clean trail. Pretty level train, nice overlooks into the marshes. No charge to park but on a busy day, I imagine there would be a wait to park!

Loved this loop, went with dad. Easy and rewarding.

Easy and rewarding.

Just an FYI you have to drive through the cemetery to park at the trail head. The right side of the trail is flooded due to beaver activity but the rest of the trail is still very pretty. It’s a nice little walk in the woods.

Pretty decent incline, amazing sunrise views at the top. Dog loved it! Teenage daughter griped until the top.
