January 19, 2019: beautiful conditions, snow packed and a hard assent but well worth it. Trail was worn so it still sees occasional adventure seekers that don't let the closure warning deture them. You will be the only ones on the hill, we were, but when else will you ever get a chance to experience this mountain all to yourself?
The summit was very windy, felt exillerating pushing through the big temperature change from 2 or 3 on the ground to quite fridge at the peak, dress accordingly.... Some deep snow sections ☺️

Bring proper shoes for the weather. Last 25% gets steeper. Hiking poles recommended. Amazing view at the top!

Absolutely unreal!!! crampons are a must; the trail wasn’t terrible until you’re out of the tree line. Little bit of exposure in some spots but not a problem at all if you take your time and don’t push your limits... pretty easy to lose the trail after the ridge but just stick with it and as long as you’re headed in the general direction of the true summit you’ll be back on track in no time

Trail is good. It gets handsy when you start climbing around the mountain. Lots of opportunity to go to sub peaks without wasting much time. There was a little bit of snow but not much. Views are awesome! Great weather!

Steep climb this one but worth it for the view at the top. Makes Calgary look like a tiny village! I tried to run all the way up it but it’s steep and not for the faint hearted. I had to stop a few times on the way up! Very very cold and windy at the top so wrap up warm if you are walking it. Ran all the way down easily in walking boots in 20 mins. No spikes needed as most of the track is rocky and/or earthy. Minimal snow or frost at present. Good runner will go up and down in around 75 mins. Slow walker will take 3-4hours. Highly recommend this for runners and walkers as a challenge with a reward;-)

Nice day out there! Made it to the ridge, super windy. The trail is manly dry but some snow/ice patches, i recommend spike & pole!

Unreal trail, short and sweet!

Please be aware that beyond Mirror Lake the trail is actually in avalanche terrain and not recommended in the winter!
Stay safe!

Would do it again repeatedly.

Great little trek in summer. Not much of to see unless you do the small 700m stroll at the top

Crowded but safe. easier trail for friends

A decent little hike if you want to get away from the crowds at Lake Agnes. Incredible views of Lake Louise and if you want, you can get a pic of mirror lake and lake Louise in the same frame. Just watch your step.

A decent little walk. Something to bring the relatives on that don’t hike much. Agnes Lake is beautiful but the teahouse can get packed up pretty quick. Go early if you can.

Completed on Jan. 12. Very little snow and only required spikes on the back loop. If you want to extend the hike, complete the back loop ( check out prairie mountain and prairie creek route ). Different views and adds about an hour to the overall experience. Easy hike for experienced hikers; hard for beginners.

We hiked Tamnuska loop today (January 13, 2019). Most sections were dry. However, spikes are needed to reach its summit.

Great hike. Path is snow packed with very little ice right now, so could probably do it easily enough without spikes, but certainly easier with them. Get up there early to avoid the crowds, and you're in for a treat! Some amazing views on the way up, and the crowds really thin out once you get past the Upper Falls and head to the Inkpots. When we got to the Inkpots there was only one other couple there, so very peaceful! I just started hiking this past year, so certainly not a strong hiker, and this trail took us about 3 hours, including stops for photos and lunch.

The incline is a lot of work, but the top is quite stunning! Hard work pays off in this case!

I want to hike Ha Ling this weekend with the nice weather. is it actually closed or can it stil be done?

did this trail on one of my last days in Banff and it was really beautiful!

We hiked this trail in early June 2018 and, in the last 25% of the trail, there were snow and icy patches. Allow 1.5-2 hours one way up if you're reasonably fit and have good shoes, and 2-3 hours if less so.

This is an extremely rewarding hike through a shaded switchback dirt trail that will reward you with an even more breathtaking view all along the summit ridge! Amazing! Throughout the climb, we found plenty of openings through the trees to enjoy the view of Banff below.

Some parts do get steep as you near the summit. I would highly recommend hiking shoes with good traction and hiking poles, especially if there are chances of snow and icy patches. I would advise checking the weather the night before before hiking, especially if you have limited hiking experience or are with children and the elderly. It can prove challenging and bit scary when things get slippery.

This hike is insane. Quite scrambly at the top, so careful on a super windy day! Very difficult, had to stop many times, but great work out and beautiful hike

Worth the drive if you are visiting other places in the area.

Peyto Lake is worth the drive -- make sure you walk the trail to get away from the crowds at the viewpoint!

Gorgeous trail, will be trying it again when the snow melts! We made it a bit past the party summit but turned back when the slippery snowy/muddy slope hit some exposure (wayyy too dangerous for my liking). Still a beautiful hike/easy scramble up to that point -- loved it!

We did this hike in early May and it was probably our favorite hike of the trip. Take it all the way to the top--you won't regret it!! The beginning is busy and pretty heavily trafficked but it thins out as you continue onward. Have fun!!

We tried this trail in early May. Pros: we had the whole thing to ourselves. Cons: we didn't make it very far! Saw and heard a bunch of avalanches, so be smart(er than we were). Loved the parts of the hike that we were able to do and can't wait to return someday and finish it!

Several cars were broken into at the trailhead parking lot today.

Have been hiking this for 20yrs, but this was the first time with snow and ice. Bring spikes and decent poles, some gnarly ice latches patches on the backside. Shoulder and front side were pretty clear, unfortunately very little scree left these days...

Great hike today. Nice to have the micro spikes in a few spots. Stunning views along the hike and 360 at the top.

Did this hike in early July. The view is absolutely worth the trek. But it did get sketchy in some areas during the scramble. If you’re afraid of heights, I’d stay away from this one because you’re walking on a pretty narrow path on the side of the mountain for a little while
