Absolutely breathtaking hike with a HUGE payoff.
Unfortunately I lost a wedding band somewhere on the hike between the lake and the parking lot on September 11th. It would have been in a red silk zipper bag. Please please please let there be a good person in the world!

Hike for any level hiker! Beautiful waterfall that you can hike right to the base of the fall for spectacular photos.

great little hike. made it up right at sunset. the trail is well maintained enough to make it most the way back in the dark. very nice and easily accessible

easy and fun

I take issue with the AllTrails description saying that it is near the Klamath River, it is not. The closest river would be the Deschutes.

If you leave from the Broken Top TH (not Todd Lake) you’ll want a high clearance vehicle that you don’t mind beating up.

That said, Broken Top, the Bend Glacier and the amazing lake is by far the most rewarding hike in Central Oregon.

Great trail! I took my dog with me and she loved it! The best part was the part leading up to the creek. Its so beautiful out there! I will definitely be returning.

This hike is great! Amazing views:) including the cave, the round trip was 6 miles.

Moderate to Hard is fair. Total trip was 9.8 miles. Great views at the top but only a few lookout opportunities on the way up. Trail was not marked but its about a .3 miles down the road on the right side. For the first trail split (<1 mile) take the left trail (the up trail). About 4.5 miles (total) you will come to the dome rock trail that is marked

Lovely area. Can't go wrong with any trail around here. I went from Green Lakes Trail, camped at the base of the mountain, and summited the next morning. The walk is pretty straight forward. There is one 20 foot vertical wall at the top. It is recommended to use ropes on this wall. Be careful!

Here is a video showing the summit route:

Great short hike. Really easy. You start walking through the forest for a bit, then through some volcanic rock fields, then end up at lower proxy falls. Lower proxy is the larger of the two falls and the path off the main loop to its base can require some scrambling around fallen trees and rocks, but is nothing too challenging. Upper proxy is great as well, there was a giant pool of water at the bottom when we arrived, so in order to really see it clearly we had to climb up a path to the right when facing the falls. You could do this loop in 30-45 minutes straight, but you’ll probably want to stop and enjoy the waterfalls. We stayed on the loop for 1.5 hrs.

we loves this hike and constantly said wow for all the views.

My boyfriend and I did this trail a month ago and it was a simple trail till you got trying trail to get down to the pool. My boyfriend and I had a blast finding it but is difficult to find. I would highly recommend this pool it’s so beautiful and so worth the hike.

a little steep but completely doable and only 1/4 of a mile.

Beautiful view, amazing sunset from the peak if you camp. Cave adds a nice side adventure and interesting walk through the burn.

This is an excellent hike with so many beautiful views. Make sure you fill out the paper in the little box at the trail head (northwest forest pass) and keeping your copy on you as you hike...we got stopped on the trail by someone with the forestry service that asked for it. You can be fined if you don’t. The hike was very dusty but so many different terrains and great views I didn’t care. I did bring extra water which was helpful. The cave was not super hard to find, you have to go downhill through the burnt forest and around to the left. Pretty much follow the foot prints. Also this app is amazing and if you open the map somewhere you have phone signal and leave it open you can use it even if you don’t have signal. It will show you as a blue dot and you can “follow the red line” to your destination. I’m surprised how many people use this app and don’t know that. So many photo opportunities it is a great hike. You will get your heart rate up a bit in some parts of this.

this was such a fun trail dispite the fact that the opal pools were not quite as impressive as I was lead to believe. still very pretty. nice easy trail. the kids gave up about mile 4 though so unless you got some energetic kids with some hiking enthusiasm I wouldn't recommend it. jawbone flats is pretty cool I had no idea that was there. the path is mostly gravel road except for 1.3 miles that is good trail type trail. lots and lots of huckleberries this time of year.

little effort for large reward. the walk is easy, a few uneven rocky sections but nothing bad and the pool is awesome. started early and was nice and quiet but got busy on the way out.

Easy, scenic hike with a massive payoff at the end.

Great views and quality hike! Would love to come back when there is snow!

This is a cute hike with lots to see at the beginning of the trail. The trail up follows the river at your right then you make your way up a rocky path to the top. Do yourself a favor and make a conscious effort to avoid stepping on the jagged rocks on your way up the path.

I wish that I had a bit more time to make my way down to the pool, next time for sure. That blue in the pool is just impressive. This is a must see.

Nice easy going hike in and out, could not believe how gorgeous the water was! I’ve been talking about going to see this wonder for a couple of years and was finally able to see what the hubbub was about. Well worth the effort to get to the pool and experience how truly cold that water is. Loved It!

My friends and I didn’t actually hike the loop start to finish. Ended up starting at Green Lakes TH on accident, but we made it to Golden Lake the first night. Great views of The Sisters and Broken Top the whole way and at the campsite. Turned around the second day and back to Green Lakes and up to Small Creek. Took most of our gear off and went and summited Broken Top. I recommend not using the app and stick to the trail signs if you are coming from that direction (soda creek, green lakes) it ended up taking us basically straight up part of the mountain without a visible trail. Hiked about 20 miles the second day. Spent our second night towards Green Lakes and then hiked out of Soda Creek in the morning. We didn’t do “the loop” by a completionist standard but I’m told we did all of the good parts.

Hike itself was really easy and boring, but the scenery is spectacular.

Pick the whole thing or a section. It’s all great. Evenings are my favorite

Great hike as always! Definitely don’t recommend letting dogs drink from the stream that comes down from the no name lake, as there’s one of the dead elk right at the top; which you can smell hiking up the stream.

I loved this trip! Made it this weekend with my dog. People at the trailhead seem worried about finding the cave, but don’t fret! Is pretty easy to find, especially with other people there. First you should go up to the peak. Right before you get there, you’ll see a campsite to the left. That’s where the cave trail is. Keep going straight to the peak.

After that, head back to the Boca trail and follow that. There’s a patch of now burned forest going downhill. Go downhill. Some people tried to go straight and up, but that’s wrong. Follow the footprints down and to the left, you’ll encounter some jagged rocks, and the trail pretty much shows you the way from there.

Really beautiful up there yesterday! I’d go early because it can get a little busy and there isn’t a lot of room to pass hikers going the other way. Finding the cave can be a little tricky, but we had luck following the footprints in the dirt.

Amazing trail with eye pleasing views.

The trail was easy to follow, there’s lots of spots you can drop off from the main trail that will take you to the water. I got there just before 10 am and parking was starting to filling up quickly. If you’re planning to swim make sure you take snacks, because that cold water will really leave you hungry.
