Gorgeous trail, very easy for kids. We took our 3 year old and 18 month old and they walked the entire trail out and back. Beautiful beach at the end of the trail.

Loved this trail. It was a good workout with the reward of stunning views. Would definitely recommend!

This was a great way to see the sunrise. Scenes were great and it was nice and quiet at 530 in the morning ;) will be doing it again!!

Beautiful view from the trail. This trail is rated moderate. I hate to see what hard is. Take lots of water and enjoy the scenery. We are beginners so It was hard for us but we were able to conquer it. I would recommend this.

Nice easy trail with good views of the back bay. Lots of birds to see. Trail is well maintained, but mostly loose dirt. Definitely wear close-toed shoes.

nice walk, half of it is pathed. Dog friendly.

A bit dusty at points and a steep incline and descent that would be difficult to navigate without the appropriate footwear. Watch out for 2 swings near the cell towers.

Nice, easy, fast walking trail(s). Pick your route for how long you want to hike.

So much fun! The climb up (west end) was gnarly - dry loose soil + loose gravel + steep AF made more a scary incline. But once we started, downwards was hella scarier than upwards (and the folks headed down looked pretty scared!). The ridge itself was really good - fabulous views above the clouds. The climb down (east end) was just a tiny bit scary.

An awesome trail that cuts through the inner valleys of the backside hills in Montana de Oro. Moderate elevation gain, and a few areas where footing can get a bit rough (loose dirt), but overall a relatively easy and well-maintained views. Really nice ocean views in the latter portions of the trail!

A long, winding trail through the hills gives way to some absolutely amazing views. Certainly a hard and difficult trail due to the elevation gain and length, but I’d say it’s on the easier side of “hard” because the climb is gradual.

As others have said, getting down to the beach is a bit tricky. When you get to the overlook point with the two signs on either side that both say “Treacherous Slope,” go to the one on the right. There’s a trail that winds down to the beach from there.

Definitely worth the 3.5-4.5 hour trek!

Wonderful hike today with four boys aged 5-13. Did three miles of bluff and ridge trails. Gorgeous scenery. Do not follow directions here. Go all the way down Windsor Ave. they have parking there. Or park of highway 1 and walk in through the Santa Rosa Creek trail (it’s only .2 miles to the views of the ocean). Great spot.

Very enjoyable hike... Loved how even though the parking lot was full, we were the only people out hiking on this particular trail.
DO pay attention while you're out here though. On our way back we encountered a mountain lion crossing the path. Pretty sure he was headed to get a drink, but wow!

Went to visit pismo and looked up a hike to do in the morning. Beautiful views the whole time provided by the ocean, caves, and nearby million dollar houses.

Fun hike, can find some solitude if timed right. Please note, a good number of the photos uploaded here are not even of this trail, but Montana de Oro, top of Hwy 46, etc. Beautiful nonetheless.

just hiked this one earlier today. fog was a view killer, but it was nice and cool. I will be back, for sure.

Easy Hike. very scenic ends at the beach but tide is very strong in the water. not a swimming beach.

I did this hike on 7-11-18 and it was fantastic! I definitely highly recommend it for all levels of hikers.

Stunning views and an easy hike around the bay. Sunshine draped the coastline. Though we were cautious about ticks, we found none.

Definitely scenic! You have to go before high tide or you’ll get trapped between the rock and water. We walked the full distance to Point Conception, but there isn’t a way to access the light house or the church. You can see it from below, but if you plan on walking there, you have to drive a ways to see it. Not a lot of people walking on the trail with you. Take plenty of water with you. The breeze was amazing as were some of the views. Also, the terrain wasn’t that challenging. Just a nice walk.

Pristine coastline, lots of CA sea otters, level gravel trail, fresh sea air.

Gorgeous views of Pirate's Cove and the coastline, north and south. It's steep going up and down no matter which way you go, but well worth it.

Beautiful scenic walk with great spots to stay and eat!

U have to use a rope to get down the beach and the breeze towards the cave is nice. Was about to go through the top area of the cave however we ran into a garter snake, looks full grown and decided not to go. Usually bad luck (superstitious beliefs)

We went the bottom half, got lost in residential area and then the last part was coming down the hill from the top of the map. I recommend going this way. The hills are steep, bring good hiking shoes and stretch.

Perfect hike for what we wanted. Flat, absolutely stunning scenery, wildlife abounds, awesome photo opportunities, so don’t forget the camera! We’ll be back with the kayaks next time.

It's a nice peaceful walk around the park and preserve. Take a stroll down to the beachfront if you like. Just know you're walking through sand dunes sand so it's a little challenging, but not really

very easy hike. we enjoyed the whole trip from start to end. the coastal mist made the vegetation really stand out. this would be perfect, if you are looking for a little exercise with beautiful views. this trail splits off into other trails as well, we chose to go on the Oat Summit trail from here.

Such a great feeling finally making it to the top! I did this with my mom and parked at the Avila village market to avoid towing in sycamore springs. We caught the Bob Jones trail then cut over to sycamore springs to start the trail. It was a steep trail almost the entire time but the breeze on top felt so amazing! Had some amazing views of Avila, but sad that I didn’t find the swing that has been up there normally. This was a great hike and a great leg work out!
