Catskills - NY Map

Absolutely stunning. A picture perfect day. Trail is broken in despite several feet of snow. I used my poles and micro spikes and didn’t have any problems slipping/sliding. Can’t wait to go back!

Great trail!

As others have stated, getting to the trail was poorly marked and hard to find. No signs for trail starts anywhere from parking lots. However, once you find the trail it’s very well marked. Rock scrambles are difficult for dogs but do-able. Only a few steep parts and they’re on the rock scrambles. The views from Sunset Rock are absolutely beautiful.

Trail is almost entirely melted after today’s weather ! It was a beautiful hike .. you don’t need spikes anymore unless the temperatures drop again. Will be going again soon

Beautiful hike to an abandoned hotel and a fire tower worth climbing. It’s definitely uphill but we did it with a chihuahua and he was fine!

I only did a quick hike to the falls and a little beyond. The trail was icy and the falls were partly frozen.

Steep climb, but the view was definitely worth it. It was a good workout with a couple rocky portions that probably account for it's difficult rating. Overall, a great time, good view and not too difficult.

Hiked it on 11/10. It was 14 degrees and one of the first (light) snow falls of the year. Amazing hike, one of my favorite. Bruins Causeway between Wittenberg and Cornell was extremely unique

Hiked on 1/28.

The snow around the trail melted, but the trail itself was pure ice because of all the snow pack on the heavily used route. Microspikes recommended, otherwise easy hike

Just missed the peak colors on my 10/20 hike, but got my first of 35 down. Loved the forest on top of Panther

This was such a great adventure!! Please bring micospikes. At least for no anyways .

Views are great but tower is closed .

This is the most difficult part of Devils Path. I did it from Mink Hollow and climbed Plateau and Sugarloaf. On 1/21 crampons (not just microspikes) we’re very useful

Incredibly icy, the recent rainstorm made everything freeze over and the beginning of the trail was flooded, had to cross on a fallen tree. Trail was fantastically well-marked, which came in handy when we ran out of daylight and needed to use a flashlight on the last half mile. Fantastic area, though the summit isn't above the tree line, so the view isn't as great as an alpine summit.

We did this trail on the last day of december, it was cold and snowy with some ice. A good pair of microspikes is a good idea. It was -20 at summit so be prepared. Im in decent shape, very active and this is definetly a good incline but not unobtainable for the average. If your adventurous do the hike a hour and a half before sunrise and greet the sun from rock overlook just around bend from the ranger station. This hike is in my top favorites thus far as it gains elevation, its not long in distance, the view at overlook and firetower, the ruins of the hotel, the history in the catskill range, absolutely worth every step! The buddist monastery at parking lot is a great bonus. Safer in winter than summer for off trail exploring due to the rattlesnakes in summer so i hear, and you cant park anywhere but the lot so get there early or at less popular times.

The views from the top are fantastic. It’s good if you want a moderate out and back for exercise, but aesthetically it’s not outstanding. It’s a road with power lines.

Finished! 35er!

Great quick and challenging hike! Ruins are pretty cool too! Be sure to get there early as the parking lot fills up quick and the local police fine people if they park on the road. I've heard the fines are quite pricey too.

Went on December 24 & the trail was covered in a sheet of ice. Bring shoe spikes! It’s not a difficult trail (slow elevation gain for 2.5 miles then back down) but the wintry conditions made it more interesting. Nice view of the Hudson from the top.

Twin mountain has such an excellent summit view.. and the sugarloaf view is also one of my favorites in the Catskills. you can see the Shawangunks in the distance!

Hiked today 12/20/17 in the snow, very steep climb feels like it never ends, saw a black bear on the way down

A very nice spot great views
Fantastic way to spend a December day
The only drawback was having to walk thru the campground since it is closed for the season
Even got to see a deer

Beautiful in autumn

Great hike. Very challenging. Left flashlight at home so started descending from the top during sunset so had to use iPhone as flash light. Be aware of animals at sunset. There are two spots with a great view. However I went all the way to the top as well thinking that’s where the best view would be but there was no view from there. Good luck to anyone it’s definitely a great experience :)

Easy walk. Old hotel ruins are fun also!

This was a great trail however the map layout is a bit misleading. If you Map the walk to Boulder Rock it adds a bit of mileage and i don't think it was "Moderate" . However the views were gorgeous. There are some ledges to be really careful on if you go for some good views.

Good views from Giant ledge. The hike is easy and is a good hike for beginners.

Went up in mid November and it was already snowy and icy at the top. Beautiful.

Nov 4 2017 great views old mountain house hotels firetower and apparently if you go during warm months there is a large habitat of timber rattlesnakes near the fire tower so if you go when it’s warm be careful near the top with children and pets. Can also continue trail to echo lake and some other trails to another parking.

Great view!
