HikingGreat!

As soon as you start the hike, you are going up up and up. After going up for about 1.5 hour, the trail levels out and it’s pretty easy. The air is nice because you are walking in a forest of pine trees! Take in the best air!!!

first 1,2 is legit straight up hill and represents all of the elevation gain. there are 3 spots with amazing views, but the plateau itself does not give a view. very nice hike though

this trail is long and steep and not very interesting to navigate compared to other 3500s, but the view at the lookout and the pass by diamond notch falls makes it worthwhile.

Hiking

Trailhead is across the street from Notch Lake parking. As everyone says, that first mile and a half is a heart pounder! Steep, but the only tough part of the hike. Once you get to Orchard Point you have the best view!!! The rest of the hike through the woods is beautiful and flat, but has no other view. Took me 3 hours and I only passed 2 people.

Did a little out and back and had a lot of fun. Ran into quite a few other hikers which some don’t like but I don’t mind. The last ~1.5 miles to the summit are essentially a ridge walk so once you hit the red blazes at the bridge just tough it out for a mile or so and then it’s smooth sailing. Great views

Nice waterfall & hang out area 2 miles in. The trail was not busy, compared to other nearby trails, which was nice. There’s a small parking area for about 5 cars almost 1 mile up the dirt road.

One the best hikes in the Catskills, hands down. The first incline is one the most steep and technical inclines I’ve experienced in the Catskills. The first lookout is amazing and so is the second one which is maybe a 100 feet after the first one. The trail is basically flat after the incline and it turns into a technical piney hike. The entire hike is technical with rocks, pebbles, and roots. The Plateau lookout is small, wouldn’t even bother going all the way there, the first two are the best. Highly recommend this hike to experienced hikers and also make sure you wear good and grippy hiking shoes and poles. The way down will test your legs.

Not terribly difficult - a steep incline but not many tall rocks. There is one tall rock to climb up before the overlook. After the overlook it’s a flat long walk. The best view is at the overlook.

Total distance was ~7.9 miles so I don’t know why it says 6.0? Great trail conditions today, virtually no mud. Still a bit of snow up on the plateau. Initial ascent was a bear as others have said but the views were amazing!
