I really enjoyed this hike. my niece, 6 year old dog, and I hiked this in about an hour and a half. The hike was alittle strenuous on your calves going up, but once you got to the hotel it was worth it, from there the watchtower and overlook cliff is only .30 :).

Great view from the fire tower. Quick and easy hike but enjoyable.

Nice hike path is clear and safe all the way up as far as hiking through rocks and such. Great views had a great time.

PARK AT LAUREL HOUSE ROAD! The trail and falls are simply awesome, but parking on 23A is insane. Continue past into Hunter and park above the falls, where they have beautiful trails leading to all parts and viewing areas. Im a little chubby and would call this moderate, not easy, but all in all just loved it!

very much a disappointment . 4.5 hours round trip and was hoping for breathtaking views. all you can see from the top is big pine trees. what a waste . been on much better hikes than this that offered so much beauty . just before you get to the top you can see a little of the mountain ridges across but mostly obstructed

We completed the Slide-Cornell-Wittenberg out-and-back starting from the West. Mostly an uphill hike on the way to Slide Mountain. Between Slide mountain and Cornell Mountain there are some rock scrambles and climbing that is required. Overall, a really nice trail with some great views as long as the clouds don't roll in.

Great hike beautiful view just before Table and awesome view Ashokan high peaks at the summit of Peekamoose when you get to the rock look for the trail on the left side coming up from denning road

I hiked this yesterday. Lots of wet stream-like areas and fist sized rocks on the way up. Trail gets sandy/ gravelly with some pretty views above the 3500 feet marker. You know you are almost to the summit when you see the blue trail leading off to the right, then the concrete block remnants of a fire tower, then a stone wall foundation THEN the rocky outcropping summit. around the front of the rock is a plaque commemorating John Burroughs. I took the blue trail down...not as pretty but there are 2 cool rock formations (one with a view) and one with pretty dripping moss and mini caves. All together (including my stay on top) 4 hours.

This hike came as advertised. It was a kind of boring hike up, but the ruins are really cool, the views are great, and we saw a timber rattlesnake. My wife and I have only been getting serious about hiking for a few months and we finished in 2.5 hours, which included a few minutes chatting with some volunteers at the top. Overall,it was a great way to spend a morning.

This hike is definitely EASY - not moderate. I am not super fit but I managed this very easily (there are a few hills but they're not challenging). The hike is very muddy and wet, so you need good hiking boots. The view is unreal!!!! I would highly recommend this, considering it's little energy exerted for a stunning view!

Really liked this trail. Started early and the overlook was great near the top. Started early, it does get busy later many hikers. Was a little rocky going up but nothing really challenging, just steady.

We hiked this back in April. Muddy trails but the top was worth it. There’s awesome abandoned buildings and a tower you can climb at the top. Gorgeous views

I think I know why its called slide Moutain. lol

We (me, husband, and 4 year old son) hiked this on a Tuesday morning (around 10am). We found an AWESOME trail guide online for this at https://hikethehudsonvalley.com/hikes/kaaterskill-falls-ii-upper-trailhead/
This helped us decide on the Laurel House Rd parking lot vs the one where you have to walk around the side of the road. We started at the parking lot and went to the viewing platform to get our first look at the falls. It was empty! For about 1 minute. After that, we made our way down the trail that led to the falls. It was very steep and tricky in some spots because it was our 4 year old’s first time on such a steep/long hike. The trail was easy to navigate and towards the end there are actual steps built into the side. Definitely check out the top waterfall trail that you come to first because it is amazing! Once you’re down at the bottom you can really explore around at your own level which was great. Bring a swimsuit if the weather permits! I wish we had because the pool at the bottom is great and we ended up getting pretty wet just exploring on the rocks. At the bottom a lot of people are coming and going and towards the afternoon it definitely got more crowded. The waterfall was worth the hike back up too and there’s enough to take in at the bottom that you’re really able to rest up for the trip back. Great spot and I can’t wait to go back!!

Boring all truck road .. top of the fire tower is locked

nice fall to see when level of water is higher but the trail
is nice and not hard to see.

Great challenging hike with a little bit of climbing required. Done in 5.5 hours. Its one of those hikes which make your legs buzz when you lay down to sleep that night.

Main parking lot was full. Had to park down the road. Kind of a dicey walk along the road to get to the trailhead. Trail was crowded and mostly vertical. Well maintained and beautiful waterfalls.

It was a hard hike but I still did it

Beautiful view from the top went to Cornell and back outstanding views of Ashokan from Wittenberg and Cornell had 2 beautiful view one of Wittenberg and the other of slide great hike very difficult. As a bonus saw a porcupine on bruins causeway great day hike!!

We had planned to do a different easier trail but only had a 2017 tag for our dog, not a rabies certificate showing the shot was good until September, so we couldn’t get in to the park where that trail was. This trail is rated as moderate and it was too much for my 5 and 9 year old. I enjoyed it, especially the views from Inspiration Point and the cool, rocky forest paths. Well marked with signage and flares. Quite a bit of steep hills.

Pretty view from the top. The hike up was a little uninspiring.

Always a beautiful trail. A few lookout points and pretty walks.

This was a challenging hike. You start with a hike up to the sign in then continue climb. It levels off for about a mile before turning in to attack the main climb. There is some awesome rock climbing on the way up that I loved. It says you can bring a dog on the trail but unless your backpacking him up the rock climb I don't see how any dog could make it. The view from Wittenberg is AWESOME well worth the effort!! Cornell not so much, but the crack is fun to climb.

Great views and a manageable hike

If you take the foot path from Woodland Valley Campground during a rainy season, the overgrowth will not allow you any good views. There’s a ton of vegetation and trees blocking currently. Hiked this yesterday and didn’t come to any clear summit views for 3.5 hours so we turned around. You also have to hike through an intense amount of water. I wouldn’t recommend doing during a rainy summer.

It's a lovely trail, a rather steep climb, may need to use your hands to climb up some of the trail. It's located near a campsite, which will give you a moderate to high trafficked area, depending on time of day. Definitely worth my time, the views were beautiful. It took roughly 5 hours, with some breaks at the look out points. The hike can be longer than 5 hrs if you choose to go further through the trail. I'll post the pictures that I have.

Short, relatively easy, enjoyable hike that was simply exhilarating! The heavy rain storms last night & into this morning transformed the creek into a thundering, magnificent torrent, crashing & tumbling down into the gorge below. Highly recommend!

Rocky climb up. You will go through several distinct forest types and temperatures on the way up and back. It has some good views before the summit and on Burrows Rock. Great hike not too hard. Go to the left on the way up and the other on the way down. Get here early
