Great trail, slight incline up to the dam. Was hoping to see the big horned sheep but they were nowhere to be found. Will bike this trail again.

Happy 100th Anniversary Denver Water! Hello CT Segment 1! I'll be back for more when the cooler weather starts setting in! My husband and I took our kids, 7 and 10, 3 miles through the canyon. We saw a REALLY big snake (either a Bull snake or a Rattle snake that just shed it's skin) cross the road in front of us. I would say it was about 3 feet long. We also saw some kind of small lizard and tons of birds. Bring your binoculars! Keep those kids on the trail and eyes peeled for snakes, especially just off the roadsides. This 'walk'/hike was a warm one for sure, but very mellow at the beginning. Would love to make it to the dam sometime.

Nice trail. Wide trail, good one to take the kids. Go early, very sunny, no shade. First mile or so is a gentle up hill. Beautiful rock formations! Close to Denver. Coyote trail is not clearly marked on the return, bring a map along.

It’s a great spot close to Lincoln Ave in Lone Tree. The view at the top where bench is located gives a panoramic view of the DTC and downtown Denver. This hike is well marked and has many wide areas. Watch out for the mountain bikers as they come down some of the inclines. It would be best to do this trail in the morning during the summer as there is minimal shade.

A nice easy/moderate hike that got my heart rate up reasonably well. Did most of the loop and encountered < 10 people @ 9AM on a Saturday

Nice well kept and well marked trail. Interesting scenery and views. Extremely easy. This seemed to be more of a bikers trail but they were all polite and had good trail etiquette.

Great trail for walking.

Decided to check this place out since it’s so close. We walked, I wouldn’t consider it hiking because it’s a gravel service road up to the dam. After about mile 3, the crowds thin out. Will definitely be back to bike. Views were pretty, saw herds of big horned sheep on the road and on the rocks above. Lots of people fly fishing.

fun as always.
as of today, there is no flowing water after the damn, it's dry

Love this trail. The rock formations are beautiful.

Really nice easy ride. Happy people and Festival Park is beautiful!

Good area for a nice ride. This isn’t for adrenaline junkies as you are riding on a road. That said, it’s not a bad spot for a quick ride and a little exercise.

very boring crowded trail. wouldn’t travel for this one

Moderat trail, shady, has a creek for dogs to get water! The path has Pineneedles on it , so soft on the feet!

good challenge for 60+ crowd. mountain lion seen high on cliffs abt 10.45am. lots of flower and fauna variety in bloom. late june. got startled by a biker from behind. people left doggie poo bags..we saw 2 just dropped at trailside. #leavenotrace

if you enjoy urban sprawl and garbage throughout a park, and of course high speed bikes whizzing by, then this is the place to go! oh and lots of green poop sacks throughout park since no one really manages it. Also a ton of recent heavy equipment tier tracks on north side between idiot developer's neighborhood in flood plain the County loves to RIP up annually protecting homes built in natural wash area. Years ago, this was a nice park, now, just an area that collects urban trash during wind storms full of yuppies discussing their latest stock trades.....AVOID AT ALL COSTS IF YOU WANT A PLACE TO RELAX...

Amazing trail if you are in need of getting your heart rate up. It’s mostly uphill all the way around, and the view is beautiful of the mountains and city. Dog friendly and you may even see some horses! Making it to the top is well worth it!

The sun really beats down on you and there isn’t a view that you are making a goal towards to see. But it is nice to be next to a river and also to sometimes see Big Horn Sheep.

Easy. Excellent view at the top with places to sit and enjoy. Dog park next to trail. I-25 is noisy but can tune it out.

I live nearby and ride much of this area regularly. Couple things:

1) The loop area marked on the map is part of Highlands Point trails system. Since no one is impressed with the paved paths from Southridge Rec Center, I would suggest parking at the Mountain Vista high school, and short hike/ride up dad clark to get to loop.

2) Be careful hiking/biking, trails are narrow flowy single-track and some sections are in the woods with blind corners. Some sections are fast downhill on a bike. Upper trails, especially near E/W trail can be busy with hikers, bikers, and dogs.

3) All of highlands Point system is labeled 'Easy'. This trail should be labeled 'Easy' as well.

More of a dirt road than a trail. Well packed but plenty of room for bikers and walkers/runners. Would recommend getting here early as it does start to become very popular around 8-9am. I got here about 7:15 and it was perfect!

Great spot to train, or just jog/walk or bike. Its quiet and well maintained.

Beautiful place

The hike is outstanding. Some elevation but the trail is well marked and provides some pretty awesome views of Denver and the surrounding suburbs.

Parking lot is back open

definitely a hot hike! best at sunset or early morning. not much shade. but very pretty and easy for kids

Nice walk. Would be nice if people would actually throw away their dog poop bags though. They were all along the trail. If you bring your pooch please be courteous to others and their dogs by packing out. There are also 5 or so trash cans along the trail for your poo-leaving convenience.

Beautiful views, gentle slope, easy access!
