This trail is not moderate. 3.5 miles up at a knarly incline, then the same down. Not for the beginner hiker. I consider myself well in shape and this trail gave me a challenge. Good trail for training for a hard hike. Started snowing as we got up around 3k elevation. Cold wet hike, worth it though.

Quick trail! The steps are harder than they look though! Gorgeous falls. I personally enjoyed Makestic falls better of the 2. Will definitely do again in the summer time!

It was a beautiful and relaxing hike! I highly recommend hitting the trail later in the morning, when the sun shines through the trees and the morning dew begins to burn off.

great family hike. can be muddy at times and slippery in some spots. still a great and beautiful hike.

My favorite hike in the entire state. Quiet, beautiful scenery, and perfect for swimming!

Beautiful forestry and an amazing waterfall.

Nice and easy walk. Nice and clean trail with a few falls. It's cool to be able to go behind the last one and just listen.

pretty falls

This hike is a gorgeous forest loop that offers varying scenery. It’s overshadowed by the Trail of Ten Falls, which is great because there’s a lot less people on it. It is horse accessible, and there’s plenty of horse poop to prove it, but it wasn’t a big deal for us. The uphill portions of this hike are painful, but then it’s downhill the whole way back. Now, if you’re a lover of mud like I am, enjoy the crap out of this. If you’re delicate and don’t like to get dirty, find something else to do besides this trail. It’s also very well marked, so getting lost would be difficult. We didn’t see any critters on the trail, but a sign at the trailhead said that bears and cougars have been spotted there before. Based on the density of the forest, I’m pretty sure they were there watching us amble through. Creek crossings were fine because of lovely bridges, and there’s plenty of water on the trail for dogs.

a little soggy, but i dont mind that in a trail. the falls are so full right now, the best part of the trail is listening to the flowing water of the river or a fall in front or behind ya. will definitely hike this again!

Great easy hike! A little tough when you want to go down to water , which is cold.. pretty busy on a Sunday, got to parking at about 1100. Water color is amazing!!! Would love to come back when their is snow everywhere . Highly recommend.

Beautiful hike, mostly dirt but where the canopy lightened there was a little snow on the ground. By the end of the hike the snow was mostly melted. The pool was beautiful with the snow falling, but don't expect a big waterfall this time of year.

Great hike for the start of 2019. Get there early as there is parking but it will fill up. Hike is easy and well worth it. Be prepared for lots of people. It’s a popular spot!

I love this trail! Steep is accurate. If you go all the way to the summit, it is a narrow trail with a lil bushwhacking. I loved it. About an inch of snow.

I don’t understand the three star reviews for this hike. It was awesome! Granted, I went in late December when the Falls were raging, and the people were elsewhere. I definitely felt the elevation gain on this one, and was glad for those downhill sections at the end. There was mud, but not terrible considering it’s been pouring rain all week, and it was sprinkling today. Walking behind the Falls was a great experience, and since there was no one else around, we hung out on the bench for awhile. And let’s not forget to discuss the cows. They really are open roaming on the same road where you walk. I highly recommend this hike, and I’m not sure why anyone wouldn’t.

We hiked to Blue Pool on 11-26-2018. The trail is well maintained but there are rocks that you have to climb over so be aware that it’s not a flat path the whole way. IMO there could be a few more markers for the viewing outlooks....easy to walk right by when you don’t know to look for them. My watch said we did 4.3 miles, from the parking lot to Blue Pool and back but it’s mostly flat and was no problem for my kids (ages 11 & 10).

A quick hike close to Sweet Home. We went today (12-3-2018) and the trail is clear with the exception of one tree that looks to have been down for a while. It’s not hard to climb over but be aware that there is no way around it. The bridges were slippery but that happens when everything freezes! The falls were gorgeous and my kids love peeking behind the trees for fairy houses. There was a minimal amount of mud.

When you start the trail you will have a quick choice. To the left, trail meanders up hill and around, to the right straight up the stairs. Serious stairs, so unless your in descent shape, go the other way and come down them.

Super awesome hike!! Totally kick ass though. Straight uphill and lots of switch backs, but worth it.

very good place! The stairs were a lot for me but made it through

Hiked this after Henline Trail (waterfall). Only saw one other person. Amazing views! Will be doing again.

Really amazing hike! Lot of razorbacks and some steep points but super amazing and such an awesome view all along the way (especially at the top)!

Beautiful hike but didn't realize the number of stairs involved. Expected a few but those of us plus 70's with hip and knee issues had to take the stairs and stone steps slow and easy. The heighth of the stone stairs varied greatly. We also found that a few areas we're beginning to erode away, making some areas a little difficult. But with all that said, it was one of the best hikes we have ever taken.

just went yesterday with 5 grandkids and it was great. ranging in age from 7 to 14 years old. We started from fern ridge road, up the gravel road by the cows to the trail head. took a break there at a picnic table and started up the trail. kids loved the falls and the stairs. Ended up at the campground for lunch. Left Salem at 8.30 and were back home by 1.30. just a great day!

Amazing place

Maybe this is a good hike for inner-city folks looking to take in some “nature”. Not so much a hike as a short nature walk.

Not my cup of tea - the entry “trail” is a gravel road through private property, followed by short trails to a couple little falls. One of the falls is right on the road, which is good for access, I suppose. We walked to two more falls that were kind of neat, but wouldn’t go back.

In all fairness, we “hiked” this early summer, and the falls are probably considerably more voluminous and spectacular mid-winter, but be prepared for mud of hiking to the other two falls.

Awesome hike, forest is green and luscious. Hike was good, and weather was perfect. no rain, mud or snow.(even had first time hikers with us and everyone made it up and down) fall was an incredible sight. 100% must see. Falls flowing. We saw folks with dogs, children and bikes.

Beautiful area, very short hike
