Animals I saw on this trail: deer, wild horses, magpies, and an eagle.

Unlike some of the last reviews, I think this trail should be rated as moderate. Didn't feel overly-tied or anything from this hike, and I'm definitely not in great shape. Steady incline the whole way and nothing punishingly steep. Mostly hard-packed snow with some slick ice patches. Nice views along the way and few people here in early January.

Fewer people the higher you go!

Nice easy hike. No shade until you reach the gazebo at the top.
Pretty views of Washoe Valley.

Great mellow trail. Beautiful in late October when the aspens are changing.

Is a great place I like.to walk there

Started at thomas creek and did the 7 mile loop to white creek trail. Thomas Creek is good for all ages. There were hikers, walkers, bikers and dogs. Up to Dry Pond has switchbacks to help with elevation gain. Colors and creeks were gorgeous.

Very enjoyable, not too difficult. In the early morning there were a few people, but coming back down it got crowded. The Fall colors were glowing and the sound of the creek, even this late in the season, was so peaceful. Loved it.

this is not a moderate hike. it is hard. 2100ft gain in 3 miles, the first mile is pretty much straight up. then switchbacks from there and you go up forever. the top is worth it. it's worth it to go the additional .5miles to churches pond. it was beautiful today. the aspens were so bright. I thought I was in pretty good hiking shape, but this climb kicked my butt-and my calves. and I got 6.97 miles.

Took my pup out for a jaunt. Most of the trail was closed, but it was a pretty walk. Very loud in most places because of highway and helicopters. Trail not marked around the lake, but seems pretty clear at the start. Check the maps up front. Will be back to do surrounding trails!

Great hiking trail, especially for dogs. Most of the trail is shaded and there’s an abundance of flowing water for dogs to drink from and splash around in. The scenery is pretty; trees, streams, and a view of a cool rock cliff (I don’t know what to call it) at one point on the trail. I didn’t find any parts of the hike to be very challenging so if you want a good workout just increase your pace:p

I did the Upper Thomas - Dry Pond - White’s Creek loop on a Monday morning. Beautiful. Mostly in shade, except for the downhill side of Dry Pond. Not too crowded, lots of friendly dogs being walked and a few courteous mountain bikers.

Beautiful easy ride.

Nice walk around the lake. Then go get breakfast in south lake.

Fun short walk around the lake ke....perfect for mountain biking

Great day Hike! yes the first 2 miles or so are tough, but take periodic breaks every 15 minutes or so and you'll make it. The trail levels out around 2.5 miles and the rest is really easy going. It took me 2 hours and 1 minute to reach the Resovior, and an hour and 30 minutes to get back without any stops. Overall a very fun hike, I couldn't see many views due to all the smoke but what I saw was nice.

No sights unfortunately. Still a good workout

I hike the Thomas Creek Upper trail monthly in my Mt Rose rotation. this trail has it all and with ample shade and almost constant running water, it cools on those hot Reno days. I usually go in up to the bridge and depending on weather, time of day for direct sun and traffic, I sometimes take the access road eitber up or down. it makes for a decent work out and the many dogs and horses are a plus for animal lovers. i even saw a mountain mono cyclist...incredible. you will love this moderate hike.

Very easy and also very short. Good for a quick change in scenery if you head north or south on the east side of Lake Tahoe and want to make a quick stop.

*easy grade.
*great shade.
*lotsa water for the dogs.
*unpopulated on an "off" day ( NOT on sat/sun/holiday).
*quiet.

Nice leisurely trail. Easy for kids alike.

It was thundering and raining for our hike today - we enjoyed it. Saw very few other hikers, perhaps due to rain.

If you are looking for easy with nice scenery it's perfect.

Beautiful scenery, easy walk along lake and through wooded areas. Only slight negative is that part of trail is below highway 89 and you can hear some traffic noise but bad. Saw a deer grazing about 30 feet from trail at one point.

A great hike for both people and dogs. We were thankful for the shade and the water.

This trail was more difficult than moderate in my opinion. It was also 6.6 miles and not 6.3. It is a gorgeous trail full of surprises. The views close to the top are breathtaking! I definitely wished I could have jumped in the pond due to the heat but the water looked pretty gross. I will be doing this trail again in fall when it cools down a bit.

easy peasy but a wonderful walk around the lake. will take all our out of town visitors here.

This hike is perfect anytime of day due to the shade the trees provide. It is a mellow climb and beautiful. If you drive past the first parking lot and go further up the dirt road there is additional parking. Starting closer to the top allows for different views and less people.

Relaxing stroll in a scenic forested area next to a creek.

Great hike. Went on the 4th of July so it was busy but not as bad as I thought. Tons of dogs! All were very friendly and it was a great training experience for my pup. Shaded most the way until after the turn to Dry Pond. You start to go up the hill and lose the shade from the trees. Cool place to check out. The dog and kid enjoyed cooling off in the creek.
