Great hike! You can add some nice miles going to the pass west that leads to BC (don't know the name). We also went to sentinel pass on the same day, it's very realistic to do both. The trail is well marked and easy to walk, so you make miles quickly, especially once the initial uphill near moraine lake is done.

It's amazing, do it! But go prepare with the description for the scramble. We didn't know about it and met some folk at sentinel pass going up, so we tagged along. They didn't really know where they were going so we had to head back 1/3 of the way. I'll try it again next time, but I'll be the one with the direction!

Don't waste your time, there are much nicer hikes around there. It's a very easy stroll but there just isn't much to see.

Nice and easy to follow, the hike isn't that hard because the trail is in very good condition. If you are into scrambling, I'd suggest you look into the mount temple scramble. But go there prepared... We tried to follow folks that were going up but had no clue of the way, so we had to head back 1/3 of the way. Still gorgeous - we ended up going to eiffel lake and the Wenkchemna Pass following west crossing to BC. Big day but amazing. If you skip Mount Temple, and if doing both is too much, I'd suggest doing only Wenkchemna Pass

Very nice hike. Johnson canyon is a bit crowded and annoying, but still worth doing. If you hike a lot, consider that just a "end of the day" bonus. The ink spot is relaxing with mountain surrounding. Great for pictures.

Short and easy hike with good views of the lake at the end.

The girlfriend and I snowshoed this trail and found it to be very enjoyable. The trail up until Rawson Lake was heavily packed and easy to follow. However at the lake the trail disappeared completely and it looked like everyone hit the lake and turned back. We tried to continue on but, with so much snow fall, breaking fresh trail became tiring after another kilometer so we settled for reaching the far side of the lake, had lunch, and trekked back out. Good trail, only saw one other couple. We plan on going in the summer.

Beautiful!!! But quite hard considering I’m out of shape & it’s up up up the whole way to the lake!!!! Worth it though!!!!

Nice hike with 2 waterfalls and hiking along a river to the ink pots. Very crowded however. Get there really early to get a parking spot. At the ink pots, eat a lunch along the river. Mountains in background are very scenic.

This is a gorgeous fun trail. Make sure you go early to avoid crowds. We did this in September and not many people went to the Ink Pots, so much less crowded, but coming back was very crowded around the falls. The ink pots are very neat. Love this trail.

Did this trail today, when it's still snow from the parking lot all the way to the ink pots. It was just above freezing. Really lovely. Sheltered from the wind, and the sun was warm enough that I was able to get down to just basic insulators. Spikes are a must, though, and poles recommended!

Beautiful in winter, slippery on uphills but fine with good winter boots and warm clothing. The upper falls are beautiful when frozen.

one of the best trails ever hiked in my 68 years of life!

Amazing hike! make sure you bring crimp-ons. The waterfalls ate breath taking!

Best views ever. Great trail if you can find it

Easy, beautiful but very crowded.

Hiked from Lake Moraine over Sentinel Pass all the way to Lake Louise. Beautiful but long. Saw wolverines and heard glaciers calving. Highly recommended.

Strenuous but worth it, once you get through the switchbacks there’s a nice level plain with stunning views of the 10 peaks

Beautiful winter hike! But if you're not a very active person and just starting out then know that the full hike can be pretty harsh. It was my first hike of the year and I'm not a very active person and I walked out exhausted and in pain. But pushing through it is definitely worth it! But please, please, please BRING CLEAT ATTACHMENTS ! It is very icy in some spots and there's nothing worse then having your hiking vibe on and you're being held up because someone thought it was a great idea to wear Uggs or sneakers. DRESS APPROPRIATELY. Can't wait to go back and do a summer hike.

Hiked North Mountain, from trail head. Great hike for a quick morning in the mountains, it was December but felt like September the day we hiked.
Just a little technical and scramble. Too icy to get to South Mountain from North the day we were there (no Gear). Enjoyed the day. About 3.25 hours at a good pace.

Completed the scramble to the summit at the end of September. We were very lucky that not many were attempting the summit at this time of the year, as this scramble can get very busy. There are rock hazards so after the pass, a helmet is needed, especially when busy. While we did not use them, would recommend bringing crampons (or atleast spikes/cleats) as well as an ice axe as the final approach to the summit can have snow and ice all year round. While you need to have good fitness to reach the summit in a reasonable time, never anything more than easy and some moderate scrambling at the crux.

Good moderate hike, we started early and no one was on the trail. As we descended from the lakes the trail became a bit more busy. Round trip 4 1/2 hrs.

I did this on Remembrance day. It was beautiful. The snow was up to the thigh at some point. On the way back, I could hear the avi sounds. So, just be careful out there.

This is one of my favourite places in Banff NP. Yes, the canyon can get really busy so make sure you come early.
We did the hike up to the ink pots in late October and started at 9 am and saw maybe 10 other pairs of people on the trail as we made our way up. When we came back down around 1:30 pm it was already much busier, especially in the canyon. Contrary to what many people say, the hike up to the ink pots is definitely worth the extra effort! Although the trail is not super interesting after the canyon, the view at the ink pots is amazing. Make sure you come on a clear day so you can see the surrounding mountains. When we did the hike there was some snow and ice on the trail so microspikes definitely come in handy, even during fall.

Beautiful scenery. Lots of variety. Definitely need the right gear at this time of year with all the snow. Stay left of the rocky gully on the way down. It’s a bit sketchy with the snow and ice. Take the adjacent avalanche gully. Much easier and faster decent.

I have to go back to this one as it kicked my ass so hard. But even though I didn't reach the summit, easily some of the most breath taking views.

Really beautiful both is summer and winter, but also very busy. The canyon is great for all ages, getting to the inkpots is a bit tougher but they are really interesting.

This was a great hike and the views from the ridge were 110% worth every step! It does get steep going up from Rawson Lake to Sarrail Ridge and the trail got muddy and slippery on the way down, but between the parking lot and Rawson Lake was fine.
