Easy and great for kids

Did this hike in the morning to catch the sunrise, it was incredible. No one was there and it had great views!

Easy, family friendly hike (3 & 5 year old kids walked the whole thing)
Beautiful view at the top and lots of places to sit and enjoy the scenery.

great hike. not hard but amazing views of the peaks and the lake. nice waterfall at the end.

we started about 7:30pm on a weekday so there were a lot fewer people than earlier in the day. made the hike more enjoyable. if the parking lot is full the park service won't even let you get down the road to the lake.

Faboulous views from the top which makes up for the crowds on a long and fairly uninteresting ascent. Certainly worth the trip and can be done in a morning with ease. Nice soak in the Miette Hot Springs after the hike too.

Not much of a hike as it is very short, but absolutely stunning views.

The first part of the hike, around the lake, was very easy and flat. We actually saw a moose and her two babies swimming here, very cool. I highly recommend extending the hike to get all the way up to Emerald Basin. The hike is moderate, and very secluded, great chance to escape the crowds. Don’t be alarmed by the initial steep start, it flatter out after about 30 minutes. The view from the top does not display the lake, although it is still incredible and serene. I liked Emerald Lake better than Lake Louise, personally.

Family stroll around lake. Amazing views, excellent trail.

Absolutely stunning! I took the "hard" route, which wasn't too bad. The hard route is rewarded with stunning views of Canmore and the valley, and provides a pretty nice workout to boot. The two lakes at the top of the hike are beautiful, which offer a color transition due to the algae(?) in the water. Would definitely recommend this to anyone heading to Canmore!

Quick and easy trail. “Difficult” option isn’t very challenging. Good views at the top

Super easy trail. The trail splits up and there is an easy hike and a difficult one. The easy one is very very easy, super wide train, good terrain, quick walk to the top.

If you go left at the fork and take the difficult on, it has a much better pay off - you have to walk across a small stream at certain points, there is a beautiful view of a waterfall, the view down to towards the lake is gorgeous as well. The hike includes a easy/moderate incline, until the end which includes some stair which were backed up a little and slow going as it was a weekend with lots of people, and people were trying to go up and down.

The lakes at the top are nice, and if you keep going, theres also people rock climbing and you can climb into a couple of the small caves right near the ground to take pictures and explore with kids.

We went the hard way up then took the easy way down. Good option.

Easier Hike! Takes about 30-40 minutes to hike up and about 25 minutes down! Lakes at the top worth it !

My husband, my 47lb dog, and myself did this hike on Canada Day 2018. Thankfully the rain that had threatened the day before let up, and it was a clear at the top. This trail is listed as moderate, but if you're fitness level is like mine it's a good cardio workout! A challenge for those with moderate fitness, but the kind you will feel good about because you CAN do it. From the trail head it's a pretty steep walk along a creek, then you hit switchbacks. At every turn there's a great opportunity to view the surrounding mountains and catch your breath. Then you'll hit a plateau with interesting rock features and a gorgeous view. But keep going up! The rest of the hike is above the tree line, but it's not for too long. From the top you can see many ranges, the Miette Hot Springs parking lot and hungry chipmunks. If you're questioning this hike, just do it. I loved it and my dog loved it (she was pooped after it though). You'll feel accomplished and in awe of Jasper's beauty after this hike. (it IS a busy one though, so just be aware you won't have solitude at the top)

Easy walk and great way to get some pictures of the lake without all the tourists by the entrance.

This was a great hike that my family and I took while staying in Canmore. We took the harder trail up and the easier trail down. It started raining about 15 minutes after we started, but it was still beautiful and worth the hike to the top. Glad we took the harder trail first in the rain as the steps to the top were easier to climb up when slippery.

In 3 hours one can hike halfway to pretty Laughing Falls on this trail and back to the Takakkaw Falls parking lot. The majority of the 124 meter elevation gain is acquired on one hill after the spurs for Angels Staircase and Point Lace Falls. Higher, the trail is in generally good condition to the Laughing Falls bridge and campground. Good views of Takakkaw Falls, the Yoho River, and the Daly Glacier along the way.

terrific day of hiking to floe lake. last 3 km were a little difficult as it was a jot jot July day but what a surprise to get to the camp site and e experience a day in the area. played around with a released chunk of ice that floated along side the lake like an east coast iceberg. magnificent day, and met some tremendous folks from all over. Fallen burnt out trees allowed us to experience what heavy winds the previous night can do to change the character of trail. This after considerable work was done with a chain saw the previous to clear the trail. I'd do this again in a heartbeat and will certainly do it again this year.

Excellent hike - around 3 hours round trip. Make sure you go past the false plateau to the very top for a breathtaking view! We went on a clear day and there were quite a few people on the trail. Try to go early to avoid the crowds!

Hiked this trail mid July. Amazing 360 Degree view of the surrounding mountains at the top. The entire hike is a steady incline. Can be tiring but well worth it. Took about an hour to reach the Big Rock and another 15 mins to get to the top. If you hike to the Big Rock make sure you definitely proceed to the very top...it will provide you with one of the best views you will see. Pack a lunch too because you will want to stay up there for a while admiring the sights. Keep an eye out for mountain goats as well, saw a few at the top. Took about an hour to defend as well.

Great family hike, our 4 year old had no trouble making it to the top and back down under his own power. I carried our 3month old in an infant carrier. Great place to have a picnic lunch beautiful views.

Awesome hike. Great views going up but even better once you get to the top. The way to the top is all uphill with very little flat but not extremely demanding. It was windy at the top and about 20 degrees F cooler than below the tree line. Highly recommend for the 360 views.

Nice easy walk took the easy route with the kids.

I just did it this morning. Followed other people’s suggestion, I went the hard way up and the easy way down. It was not a long or hard hike, but there was a lot to see. Lake, fall, water, rock climbing!! When you reach the top, the view is fantastic! There is little fish in the lake too

Great little hike with great views of Patricia and Pyramid Lakes at the top and also views of Jasper. Easy with some steeper sections. Didn't see any wildlife, although a solo hiker caught a glimpse of a lynx just before us and showed us a photo of it on her phone. We did try to look for it but alas it didn't wait for us :) A nice hike if you are in the Jasper area.
