Great hike! Went on Saturday. Snow is pretty deep when you get close to Lilian lake. Make sure to bank on an extra 45 minutes compared to what you would normally hike it in. Great weather though - all in all a solid 4 hours in total. We used winter hiking boots and that’s it - no poles and no snowshoes

Did this hike last weekend and we were the first ones to hike all the way to the top in the new snow fall. Really soft and deep snow from second lake

Definitely bring spike or crampons with you in wintertime! :) nice and easy hike which offers a great view over the valley. Maybe you want to relax in the hotsprings half way? don't forget your bathing suit then

This hike had a couple icy spots when we went but the views at the top were amazing!

My favorite hike! Push yourself to get to the top! I was nervous about doing the switchback at the end because it looked steep with loose stones but I went up anyway and the views were incredible, so happy I did.

Gorgeous trail, will be trying it again when the snow melts! We made it a bit past the party summit but turned back when the slippery snowy/muddy slope hit some exposure (wayyy too dangerous for my liking). Still a beautiful hike/easy scramble up to that point -- loved it!

Wow... We had a pretty unforgettable experience on this trail! We did it during May--it was hot and sweaty at the bottom, and we were literally waist deep in snow about two hours later. Then on the way down it rained for an hour. So I guess pack some layers! We didn't have crampons or poles or anything, so we had to turn back unfortunately. Loved the trail, highly recommend it, definitely challenging and for experienced hikers. I can't wait to come back and do it right someday!

Nice and easy trail with minimal incline. About a foot of fresh snow on December 4th. Snowshoes were a must as the trail was fresh and hadn’t been packed down yet. I was told by Parks Canada that there is a low avalanche risk when the path reaches the lake.

Went up to Lillian Lake last weekend and trail was all good, didn't need snowshoes until maybe 3 minutes before we got to the lake, I'm sure with a little more time there will be enough snow to pull them out earlier. Didn't get to see too much, it got pretty white out but I'm sure its gorgeous! With a little more time we might have made it up to Galatea. Trip for another time but definitely worth it!

Summited on Jan 1st. Incredible views all the way up, challenging steady elevation, fun scrambling, spikes necessary. Trail is still clearly defined.

We tried this trail in December, Great views, but very icy its better to have shoe spikes.

Did this trek on Dec 28, 2018. The views on the way up and at the top are insane and totally worth the effort up there! The top third of the trail has a lot of loose rocks and a mix of fresh and packed snow. Do not try this without spikes!!! The very top is a scramble with loose rock so be careful! It also drops at least 20 degrees between the top and the last 50 feet so make sure you camera is easily accessible ... you’re going to want your warmest gloves for this one!

Extreme snowshoeing!! Not for everyone, trail is not maintained, deep snow, trees over the trail, wild animals, and physically challenged. when you finish you know what the meaning of surviving. will do it again for sure.

Hike this trail today. Trail conditions are still very good. There has been a dusting of snow which starts about 4 km in on the trail. The temperature was quite cool 3c some icy spots also. Many people starting up the trail very late, many not so prepared. All in all, great hike.

Was up there on December 16th. Everything was in good condition. Only went as far as Lillian Lake. Spikes were definitely an asset. Snow shoes not required up to that point.

Winter wonderland! Completed on December 2nd, no need for spikes or snowshoes. If anyone spots my gray merino knit touque please let me know! :D

completed yesterday, don't go without micro spikes or crampons, pretty slippery but also very doable.amd rewarding. if you wear proper snow gear then it's not very cold at the top!

Beautiful trail but definitely not for beginners in this season, get spikes and snow gear since it's already covered by snow.

Did the hike joffre lake 25 years ago for 5 years in a row. Was one of my favorite. No one on the trail. Now did it on August long weekend this year. Wow so busy. But still so beautiful.

No Widlings or Whitewalkers to report. A small contingency of the Knights Watch ventured out along the beautiful river and rustic bridges. Not too much traffic and made it half way between Lillian and Lower Galatea Lakes. The views are probably much more rewarding in the summer. Brace yourself....winter is coming.

What a hike!
Beautiful drive to the trailhead; well maintained roads and no snow.
The trail is very well maintained and has multiple outhouses throughout the trail to the the lake, as well as some at the lake in the Campground areas.
There was no snow at the beginning of the hike, but it didn't take long before we hit snow. The snow was dry and crunchy so it was not too slippery on the way up, I did use (and highly recommend) microspikes on the way down.
It is a decent climb up, definitely gave my legs a good workout! We started on the trail around 930am and made it to the lake camping area right around 1230/1240pm. Had a quick snack and some tea in the shelters (so cool that they have these!!) before heading back down. We hustled back down in 2 hours (thanks microspikes!).
The lake was absolutely beautiful and the blanket of snow made everything feel quiet and peaceful. I will definitely do this one again!

We did this hike on November 24th. it was snowy and breathtakingly beautiful. The trail itself was was moderate in my books. The lake at the end was gorgeous. I look forward to doing this hike again in the spring or summer.

Left the lake at about noon on Sunday. There is about a foot of snow at the lake and about as much at Taylor meadows. The trail is clear from rubble creek up until about the 4 or 5 km mark. After that it’s pretty well packed snow. Can be a little slippery so boots with good tread or spikes are a good idea if you want to make it all the way to the lake.

Beautiful trail, I think it is for beginners too but just when don’t have snow. I went today and it is very slippery, spikes are highly recommended. Bring extra clothes just in case if you fall and get wet. Use gloves, scarf, hood, and nice and warm clothes. We already started the fall/winter season so you will need it because is very cold there.

Parked at the hot springs, hiked down this trail, down to the canyon and then across the road and up to the readstreak campground trail, finishing with a dip at the hot springs

Beautiful three lakes, and easy hike. Good for a beginner too. Parking was full.

This trail is absolutely stunning. A must do if you can pop over to Yoho.

Great trail - we were not expecting the trail to be so well maintained. There’s a couple outhouse bathrooms along the way. The lake at the end was stunning. Just a little bit of frost and ice on a couple parts of the trail today but no big deal at all.

Absolutely gorgeous. Constant elevation so packs were a little grueling but well worth the reward
