Amazing reward for a hike that doesn’t take very long. Took about 2.5 hours to ascend at a brisk pace. 1.5 hours coming back. The views from the top are incredible.

Recommended starting early so that while you are hiking up you can enjoy the sunrise and have the summit to yourself. Great hike

great hike. Did this may long weekend, so many places had avalanches and it was hard to pass. the last avalanche shoot we couldn't pass it was really steep and we had no equipment to get safely across as it was step, slippery, and scary!

It was super steep all the way up to the top, most of the part were uphill, loose rocks, hard to find the trail and very dangerous because it was super slippery and i got slippered many times! I won’t ever ever come back here again!

People are right, parking is hard to get there early. The view is also the best in the morning. It’s an easy short hike, though some children and seniors may find it difficult. There are good views from the bottom of the pile so even those with physical disabilities could enjoy the view of moraine.

Lake Louise is iconic for a reason and you'll be sharing the path with plenty of people no matter what. Expect this, and you'll enjoy your day all the more. I enjoy this hike in the the shoulder seasons when paths are less busy. Whenever someone visits from out of town, this is usually one of my go-to hikes.

Bring cash so you can stop and enjoy a tea at the tea house at the end.

As with all hikes from the Lake. Arrive early if you want a parking spot.

Beautiful hike! It’s definitely busy up to Lake Agnes Tea House, but the route up to Big Beehive was significantly less crowded and well worth the views. We started at about 9:45am. Great spot to eat lunch if you don’t want to wait at the tea house. Suggest going the Skyline route back down as it’s also less crowded and shaded.

Great trip in the fall just before the tea hut closes.

This relatively short hike takes you quickly past the tree line and offers great views along the ridge. Once at the top there are even more trails that offer even better views. One trail takes you down a little to view the glaciers. Another trail takes you up another hundred or so feet to that has great views of Mount Athabasca and the surrounding mountains. The hike was short and steep bu the views made it 100% worth it.

Surprisingly strenuous uphill hike. We enjoyed it. Went with my kids and dogs.

Incredible hike. The views start relatively early in the hike, so it’s worth doing even if you only want complete a short part of it. The views at the top are absolutely stunning. One of my favorites.

Amazing views for relatively little effort.

Incredible hike, well worth the final push! The view of the valley is near unparalleled. Bring lots of water and be prepared for the attack of the black flies. Also, be prepared the smoke and haze will likely obscure some of your view in the late summer due to wildfires.

Parking is a bitch. So I started to walk the 12km road. Got picked up by a french couple. Starting walking down got picked up by a German couple. Ppl are super nice.

Did this hike on July 14 2018. The hike up took only 30min and the view of Banff was nice. To be honest, I would never do it again unless someone in my group really wanted this off their bucket list.

I actually saw a jogger train on this hike and the hike itself isn't really challenging. I wouldn't have put this hike as moderate. Saw lots of older people complete this hike and it can be done with any skill level as long as you pace yourself.

FWIW, the sign said it is normally completed in 1-2hrs.

Would be 5 stars if not for:
* Horses allowed on trail (had to make way)
* Horse manure all over trail (had to dodge)
* significant haze from BC wildfires

A couple recommendations:
* arrive before 715 (weekday) to get parking on site
* start hiking early to avoid crowds and horse tours on the way up (you'll inevitably be inconvenienced on the way down)

What to expect:
* balanced mix of flat path, gentle incline, and moderate incline
* excellent lake Louise views (crowd free views too if starting early)
* excellent views of glaciers
* quick and fun detours to the streams and also to stand in the lake

Would gladly do again, especially when the fires clear.

I can’t give this hike any less than 5 stars because of the views. But, be SURE TO GET THERE EARLY if you are in Banff during tourist season. I was personally shocked at the amount of people. Start at daylight and you won’t be disappointed.

Absolutely stunning! We had to walk on a snow-covered ridge for about 20 minutes and I didn't have my hiking boots but regular trail shoes. The view above is breathtaking.

Beautiful hike, makes for a good day trip. It’s a fairly easy hike and has rewarding views at the top! Would recommend!

This is the first section of the approach to the ACC hut on Castle mountain’s cliffs. The remains of the fire lookout provided a decent spot to sit before we carried on up the steep trail. A good access road for the mountain approach but I wouldn’t recommend this as a hiking destination. Nothing to see until you reach the lookout, and mainly a steep road to walk up.

The tip I kept getting was to arrive before 7 am, however the lot fills up by 5 am and stays closed a good portion of the day. Allow yourself a couple of tries to get in. When you finally do, you’re rewarded with the most unreal view for a short hike. It’s worth battling the crowd to get in and if you try, you can find a quiet spot.

A nice view of Moraine Lake, but there are better views available on the Shoreline Trail.

Lots of fun, with the most unreal views at the top. You're definitely going to get your cardio in on this one. Took us 2 hours with lots of breaks.

Really amazing hike, one of the best I’ve ever done. The early part around the lake is crowded, but easy and flat. At the midpoint, it climbs pretty continuously, which can be hard, especially at the gravelly areas near the top. I stressed my knee descending, unfortunately, but it was still worth the landscape and view.

When we were there, it as early (7 am) and overcast, which was perfect for hiking weather. There isn’t much shade so if the sun is out it can get hot.

One of the most amazing views I've ever seen. Not only do you get to see bits of Moraine Lake with the gorgeous blue water, but if you can make it to the top you will not regret it. The hike itself is very steep, but it is well worth the struggle in the end.

The views are fantastic all along this trail. It’s very busy from the Lake Louise hotel to the end of the lake, then as the trail climbs the numbers drop off. The tea house is a great reward at the top, and there’s an additional hike to a scree scramble above the tea house that’s worth it for fantastic views of the glaciers and the head of the valley. This is a fairly demanding hike unless you’re in shape and experienced.

Parking for this hike is best near the Bow Falls. There is another lot slightly closer to the trailhead, however it is reserved for a rafting company.
The path is very clear and is marked with signs and ribbons.
The first three-quarters of this hike was nice and quick. It was all in the trees, not too inclined, a couple of switchbacks. This part took my friend and I about an hour and a half to complete... then the real hike began.
Towards the last 2km of the hike, it started to get quite steep. However, since we hadn’t broken the tree line yet, the roots of the trees provided nice footing.
Once we emerged from the trees, you can see the summit and the dragonback ridge. From there, you only have about 1-1.5km of the hike left. It is quite steep and the loose rock does not make it easier to climb, but persevere! Getting to the top feels amazing.
It took us about 3h to get to the top and 2h to get down. Getting down the dragonback was definitely a little scary. The rock is loose but not small enough to “ride” down, so you have to take your time and find your footing.
All in all, cool hike! If you’re looking for a challenge, here it is!

Gorgeous views. Not a super long hike. Constant steady uphill.

Beautiful hike, but very strenuous. Huge climb in elevation. I had to take many to stops to rest. The Tea House was wonderful. Could not make it to the end, too tired. A well worth hike

Is a excellent way to start a know Banff better.
