Park doesn't acknowledge the trail even exists. Hard to find, unmaintained.

Site of an ancient Indian village, interesting for the history. Nice general hike.

Great hike into a Cypress swamp, has nice boardwalk into the swamp and past the largest Oak in the state.

Trail with beautiful scenic overlooks of the lake at several places. A little harder to follow at the bottom once leaves cover the trail.

Good pathways and very pretty area.

This trailhead is a joke. It's an access point for raised power lines and the trail is just a path beaten through the prairie grass beneath them. No tree coverage.

Also, the trailhead marker clearly rates this trail as a moderate to difficult.

great trail for bouncing around on the rocks. beautiful creek

It’s really fun, they’re all pretty easy around giant city, except for fat man squeeze. If you stop at the lodge they’re tell you where it’s at. I think they might be a picture of it up there, but there is a big crack in a rock wall you can try to squeeze through and it’s an entertaining thing to watch or try!

Make sure and do this one if you go to the Garden of the Gods.

A good one to do in Giant City.

Def need to come back and spend more time here. not a big park, but the feeling you get reminiscing of the Indians and how they must have lived was inspiring.

the biggest draw back to this trail is you wouldn't know it existed without this app. there isn't any signage anywhere in the park letting you know it is there. and when you do look at it, it looks like an old farm access. but once we found it, it was definitely worth it.

We had a blast! Definitely be back!

loved this place! lots of exploring and the kids loved it too!

Nice trail but would of like to see some of the waterfalls, must be much better in early spring. Got to see deer and lots of mushrooms, lol. Would of liked to of gotten rid of the horsefly that decided to travel with me for the entire length of the trail and all the way back to the car.

Lots of bang for your buck on this hike: two nice-sized and very different waterfalls, unique rock formations, and a really scenic section hugging cliffs above a creek.

A gorgeous short loop that offers a decent challenge and some great views of the sandstone formations.

make sure to follow the white squares with blue "i"s, especially the first one - it's in the second electric post as soon as you start

Nice hike in. Had trouble picking the trail back up once I reached the river.

I have hiked this trail multiple times. I have also ran the trail. It is a really good work out and beautiful area.

Well marked trail. LOTS of fairly steep uphill climbs on this one. It was pretty muddy so the trail was rugged in many spots where you had to almost straddle the path to get footing. Beautiful spot on the lake on rock causeway. Not sure I would've ridden a horse on this trail that day due to muddy conditions, but several equestrians had in the day or two prior to our visit. If you are a beginner just know that this trail has some pretty steep ascents and with it being an out and back trail, you're going to have to come back down eventually. Please take a walking stick or trek pole to aid you especially if it's muddy.

My Wife and I hiked this a few days ago. Very beautiful scenery and for the most part a well maintained trail. Disclaimer to those afraid of getting off the beaten path: there were a few areas where trees had fallen across the trail, one that required you to walk about 30 yards through thick woods to get around. That wasn’t an issue for us as we hunt and are used to that but for those that may not be crazy about it, that is a possibility. That being said, they could’ve fell the night before and no one had a chance to clear them. All in all very beautiful we would definitely hike it again. FYI our GPS said it was 3.3 mi. This rates it at I believe 2.2 and their website says 1.7.

Nice trail. The trailhead rates it as moderate to difficult, but I would say moderate is a fair assessment with quite a bit of up and down. It was raining when we started and so was pretty muddy and poison ivy is all over the sides of the trail. A lot of wild life, including turtles, frogs, lizards, cray fish, deer, several species of dragonflies as well as a poisonous snake in the brush when the trail takes you over the lake. Was there for 4 nights over Memorial Day weekend and only saw a hand full of other groups. Overall a great time.

This was a fun hike with some cool rock structures to appreciate (boulders, bluffs, small caves, lookouts). There were also several small trails that branched off this lollipop route to some primitive & top-of-the-bluff campsites. Depending on the section of trail you might also notice you go from being below a predominantly evergreen forest canopy to a deciduous canopy. Side note: there was loads of poison ivy.

The first part of trail follows the muddy Cache River so not so pretty but the sound of water and birds is beautiful. We did see yellow warbler. Hugging the 1200 year old tree was fun. Heron pond was an amazing sight. We did see cottonmouth snakes in the water which was creepy.

Nice trail. It's marked easy. I'd say it's on the high side of easy but we're in our 60's so :). Several rock crossings some of which are probably water covered at times. Some stairs. Very nice though - quiet and peaceful.

Beautiful trail, hiked it about 2 weeks ago. A bit challenging to start (we went clockwise), just watch your feet. Middle section is gorgeous. Definitely will do again and also a great place to take guests.

Of all the trails my husband and I hiked while staying in Shawnee, this was the easiest one. There's a nice pond right inside the trail with a ton of wildlife(frogs, fish, dragonflies). Easy inclines with great view of the rocks.
