My best friend and I have hiked this trail twice. We are both decently active but this was my first time hiking since I was a kid so I’d consider myself a beginner. It’s $3 for 4 hours I think. We go counterclockwise which is about 2.5-3 miles uphill at first. It’s a pretty hard trail for beginners. We take a lot of 3 minute breaks on some benches provided and it ends up taking us two hours. We bring a backpack and fill it with 4-5 water bottles because there’s no shade and no water. We’ve gone both times in 90F weather, although the second time we went the clouds covered the sun and made it a lot more enjoyable. Decent views too! This is a good work out if you go counterclockwise. I weigh 130 and she weighs 150 so we burn about 650-750 calories each doing it. Bring sunscreen!

I really liked it is beautiful my dog did good. The people that were there were nice and no creepers

Super fun hike, pretty strenuous at times. We did this last Saturday in perfect weather and took our 2 dogs. They did fine but would only recommend dogs that mind you and are sure footed. Parts were rocky and somewhat exposed. Nothing sheer but nothing I’d want to roll down. There were some snow patches towards the top and micro spikes were handy but not a must. The distance is 6.5 miles one way - I wish AllTrails was more consistent with this...

Great family hike, lots of trails. The scenery is beautiful, weather was 79 degrees. The kids enjoyed climbing the rocks., easy hiking unless you’re climbing to the top of the rocks. Enjoyed the drive there.

Love this trail as a “go to spot” while seeing our son at school nearby. Wife and I enjoy being able to put in 5 miles with a bit of elevation making it a nice workout. Weekends it is heavily trafficked with runners walkers hikers and mountain bikers but very wide trails and never an issue. Saw four deer at the start of the hike and have seen pretty birds flowers and reptiles (nothing dangerous) along the trails. Enjoy the loop!

Love this trail up the ridge is a pretty tough climb but so much fun and beautiful views.

My first “moderate” rated hike with AllTrails. First 2/3 of trail was pretty gradual incline. As a newbie, I took it at a bit of a slow pace but I definitely was painfully surprised by the last .88. It was a fight, but worthwhile trail to finish for me. If you’re looking for inclines and feeling really in the woods, this a solid trail for the area.

I started at the "yellow gate" at 4:30 pm, unsure of how long it would take me to get to the summit and back with the sunset being around 7:30 pm. I did not have a map with me and it was an obvious trail to follow but I did come to (2) forks in the road.....The first one was just about 1.75 miles in and I remembered there was a trail that ran parallel to GMR road, so I took a left at the fork and continued to follow the motor way. The second fork I was really unsure of which way to go so I continued straight on the trail for about another .75 miles and the trail continued to descend in elevation, so I deducted that I must have to turn around and head back to the fork. I went back to the fork and turned left and that followed around the motor way right to the summit of Sunset Peak. I then proceeded south and made my way down the single track back to where the fork in the road was and headed back down. All in all it took me 2:13 minutes at 8.29 miles. I had plenty of time to make it up to the summit and back down without losing any day light. I had passed 3 hikers on my way down and 1 mountain bike rider. Easy trail......Cheers

Easy hike with lots of paths. Very hard to get lost, longest hike will take around 2.5 hours. Great for kids and families. Nice place with great views of the rock formations.

This was a fairly easy trail that had a gentle uphill slope to the top. The service road narrows down a bit as you get closer to the top, but never so much that the trail seems precarious. The gravel and rocks on the path also increases as you approach the summit. We walked under shade for most of the walk and found some rocks to sit on and have lunch at the end. It made for a nice long walk that anyone could do. We went on a Friday and only encountered one other person. Maybe that number increases as sunset approaches.
Note: If you are coming up Baldy Road, turn left at Glendora Ridge Road right before the Fire Station, go in about a mile until you see the yellow gate on the left.

Love this trail. Decent workout, lots of rest stops, there’s bathrooms along the way for those that need it. Love to see so many dogs out there. I wouldn’t take my kids but that’s cus they are whiny little people. I park at the further parking lot making my walk a little over 5.5 miles. Both times I’ve been there there’s been wildlife. First time there was deer and bears. Today there was a gopher snake... so be careful

Good for an adventure :) lots of small paths leading in lots of different directions but very difficult to get lost.

The last .88 miles is no joke! Not too much snow at the top small patches. Make sure you stay left on the way down otherwise you’ll go into private property.

It is good if you like incline and nothing to look at. There is no shade and very few things to sit on. It is basically in my mind a fire road that you are walking on with no real adventure.

Beautiful place to explore with family.

Great hike, nice incline

Lovely hike with my pup and I. She loved seeing all of the lizards. I went counter-clockwise and felt the incline pretty deep in my calves. It was nice to finish the hike strong since the majority of the incline was in the beginning. Loved the balance of seeing other people on the trail but also feeling alone at times. Will definitely be back but during the week since the weekend must get really busy.

Pretty nice hike with little human traffic - especially if you go in the early morning. There are multiple parking lots within the hiking area but they open at 8AM. If you decide to go a little earlier, you can park on the side of the road and just shimmy your way through the gates.

Once you get to the rocks, you can choose to climb it peer down and get major vertigo (i did - but it was worth it!). Aside from the main attraction (the rock), there are other trails you can take and go on your own little adventure - just don't get lost.

Overall, a pretty nice hike that's not too difficult at all! I recommend wearing a power rangers or star trek cosplay on cause this is where they actually shot some of the scenes for those shows. I was expecting to see Zordon but realized he died in the first movie. :(

Awesome Amazing Hike! Beautiful views ! I recommend Hiking shoes!
I will def be going back!

couldn't make it to the top because of the snow but other than that I'll definitely come back

Really good trail. Easy to follow track with only a little bit of snow near the top.

Such a beautiful place to explore! Fun on trail and off!

Beautiful hike! If you enjoy hiking through the snow then I would definitely suggest this trail for this time of year. Beautiful scenery and light snow was falling down through the whole hike. Definitely one I would do again.

Great workout! definitely bring a water bottle, dog friendly .. hard to find parking though, has become a popular place to hike, happy to see people trying to stay active

great hiking, nice view

My friends and I got there around 10 AM today and there were very few people on the trail. We took the trail from the parking lot on the left side of the entrance, behind the rock where there are a few picnic tables. Spotted the cave way off in the distance. Surprisingly it was not difficult nor did it take a long time to get to it. The photos from the cave came out amazing. Next time we will try to reach it a shorter way, from the metal gate on the right side of the access drive, just before you get to the big parking lot. Find the creek bed and head left. You'll see the cave on the right eventually. Total loop to cave and back around 4.11 miles.

Great hike, nice views. I prefer going counter clockwise. You incline for about 3 miles instead of going clockwise where the incline is a shorter period and the rest is downhill. Easy hike though, you can finish in an hour or less if you keep a good pace
