Beautiful hike for the whole family to enjoy.

The drive to the trailhead is gorgeous. I only completed a portion of the trail because I arrived so late but it was windy, with wildlife all around, and beautiful views of the coast.

Decent outing- wouldn’t be the trail that I recommend. Waterfall section is closed and this could’ve improved experience.
Trail gets really narrow, rocky and moderately steep in some spots. It’s a turn-around so traffic gets tight in these spots. Would not recommend it with kids.
The view at the top is pretty (expansive view of redwoods), but the trail itself wasn’t interesting.

Great moderate workout!

beautiful up hill the whole way.

Great hike for all ages. Amazing falls all the way up.

it was a beautiful hike, next time we'll make it all the way, we only hiked halfway because we were out of shape lol it is steep all the way up

Pretty hike. Very steep! Beautiful waterfalls almost the entire way up. We stopped at the picnic grounds - someone told us there isn't much to see beyond there.

I would definitely categorize this trail as strenuous, especially for the hike back up. It starts out in the misty silence of the Redwoods and descends quite sharply. Some spots might be slightly slippery during the descent so make sure you have good shoes. The bridge at the very end is still closed but we managed to get to the beach by going under the bridge. You only need to hop across a tiny stream to get to the other side. The views of the ocean are well worth the hike! It took us about 1.5 hours to descend to the beach and slightly more to climb back up, making it a 3-3.5 hour hike if you don’t spend too long at the beach.

beautiful trail, the falls are gorgeous. Mile markers would be nice for first timers. Watch your time in the winter PM. Quite a few signs of sasquatch.

My 7yo and I had a great time! Even with so many people on the trail it was peaceful and quiet. Lots of dogs on the trail and folks were great about keeping them on leash. Was surprised to not see many birds/animals/insects. The picnic area near the end of the trail is a great place to stop for lunch and refuel for the rest of the hike. Even on a cold day, we stayed warm with all the climbing. Worth the drive to get there.

Beautiful trail, but if you have any knee issues this might not be the trail for you. There are a lot of very steep steps.

beautiful trail! recommend getting there early for parking. only downside was that the trail was very slippery, and with the ups and downs, that made it a bit scary.

Great, brief hike. Keep a close eye on the small beaches at the base of the cliffs below, I saw numerous seals, but they’re easy to miss. Also saw several mule deer. Wish the desire paths weren’t all prohibited, however.

Great short, high yield hike with beautiful view at top.

A beautiful hike with rewarding views. The climb up definitely feels a bit harder than moderate but it’s a much easier return. As some have noted, coming back down all the stairs and downward train can be a little rough on the joints. I’d mark it a 5-star trail if it had more regular alternation between the up and downhills.

If you’re not up for the full hike, within the first mile you’ll have seen most of the prettier landscape.

Did a two-nighter out there a while back. Backpacked to one of the campsites a couple miles away from the hot springs and then hiked up to the springs the following day. Hot springs were nothing too impressive, but the hike up was really beautiful with just the right amount of elevation for a good workout.

As others have said, it's definitely a steep climb, and I was surprised this hike was labeled as moderate (I couldn't finish and turned back around about halfway through); that said, it's one of the most beautiful hikes I've ever done in the Bay Area -- from the minute you start out you're surrounded by stunning scenery, and every few feet is another gorgeous spot to rest and breathe in the incredible atmosphere. I went fairly early (9:30am) and the trail was really quiet and empty -- on the way out around 11:30 I passed a ton of groups, so I suspect afternoons there are quite crowded. Would definitely recommend to anyone with a moderate fitness level, provided you bring lots of water and are prepared to take a lot of breaks!

Nice climb but no way is it 2.7 miles total. Closer to 5-6 miles up and back. Beautiful and green. Water just trickling right now. Need rain!

We only had a little bit of daylight left and were in the vicinity so we chose this short, beautiful trail. Only problem was you could hear the street noise (hence the 4 stars). The park service is trying to re-establish the waterfall and creek which were covered over years ago due to logging…hence the pipe that someone complained about. But we found it quite beautiful.

beautiful hike, hate that it is closed now!

Was really disappointed to find that Trillium Falls was water coming out of a pipe. Wouldn’t waste your time on this if you are just traveling.

This is a short distance but vertically challenging hike, with a few sketchy spots of single track. It was really a beautiful trip through the quiet, almost "rain forest" cool coastal mist. I started out feeling a bit chilly on the descent to the rocky beach, but surely warmed up for the ascent from the ocean. This is a gem!

Fantastic trail, easy, amazing views into the Pacific and Drakes Bay, saw sea lions and even spotted whales off the coast.
