great trail

This is one of my absolute favorite hikes. The solitude of this redwood atmosphere with rain or fog is stunning. Hiking down you won't think about the return climb in store for you, which can be difficult for some folks I'm sure. Look for rabbits among the ferns, salamanders, wild irises, and succulent hens and chicks in the cliff-face when you get to the beach. If you walk the beach at low tide and explore the tide pools among the rocks, starfish, anemones and other creatures await, and I never want to leave.

The highlight of our trip to Del Norte. Best when covered in fog, it's pretty mystical with it's towering Redwoods.

We found the cove to be an added bonus, but if you are short of time or if the elevation is off-putting, I'd recommend doing the first half in the fog down to the trail sign then climbing up again.

The trade off we found is that when the trees are covered in fog the cove is too or when sunny both are.

Also be aware of any scrambling paths, we went up one to save some time and it didn't catch up to the path again so it was a fun 20 minute detour.

absolutely amazing trail. went in August and the water was still flowing. the hike was beautiful. didn't see a soul the whole hike. huge recommendation from me for a short hike.

Easy. Classic. Lots of wildlife.

As an amateur hiker, I found this moderately challenging but satisfying. Lots of incline but with a wonderful view. It was a beautiful scenic route and heavily shaded. Terrain was a bit loose in some areas so the correct shoes for this hike is essential. Parking was a bit confusing and I think we began at the wrong end as we started decline end first. I would not bring my children here however there was a family with small children. Overall, one of my favorites so far, definitely one to do again (in the the spring, when there’s more water)

Easy easy easy...decent redwood action, weak waterfall

An easy, pleasant hike with an abundance of wildflowers. White-crowned sparrows greet you from the tall grasses and ravens croak overhead. During the right months of spring or winter, you might see multiple grey whales migrating along the coast. Bring some binoculars and take in the views.

A beautiful hike! My wife and I carried our lunch in our packs, and ate just after we got to the falls; an easy hike at that point. We decided to finish the entire 2.5 mile loop. Be warned! The last 2/3 of the hike is much more difficult, and--VERY important-- there is NO cell phone coverage in the area. I would upgrade this hike to above moderate for the entire loop; fairly easy for the hike to the falls. The Redwoods are spectacular, (better than LBJ Grove)! Oh yeah, I did not see even one Trillium; they must bloom at a different time of the year.

Agree with Chris S. Did this when it was closed today. Had to literally crawl through branches at some points but was doable (I'm 6ft and was wearing a backpack). Very much worth the scratches.

Amazing views! We actually took the Coast Trail onto a beach that had a few caves. We hung out in a cave while watching the waves, whales, and seals. Beautiful hike the entire way to the beach. Definitely worth it. And definitely going again. Was an amazing date location!

This is classified as a moderate hike but for the first time hiker it may be a challenge. There are many sets of steep wooden stairs. Also rock “stairs” to navigate. Dogs on leash are allowed to hike here. I would not recommend taking a dog that is not used to steep rocky hikes. My girl is a good hiker and can handle inclines but this was too difficult for her. We had to take several breaks and she only made it about halfway. Be careful going down as some of the places have gravel that can cause you to slip. Finally I would suggest going in the winter or spring. I went in the summer and though the lake was pretty the waterfalls were almost non existent.

Gorgeous hike! The mist in the redwoods is amazing! Bridge says it’s not in use but I had a party of 6 and we all crossed and made it to the ocean just fine. Great day trip. We did the hike with a 13 and 2 year old very doable for all abilities!

Great hike mostly an incline up stairs and rocks. Great picnic area about 1.4 miles up. Lovely mystic look with a forest feel.

Nice trail. Went around 6pm. Was greeted in the end by a little brown bear. Really scary when hiking alone. But I calmly walked by and it didn’t come towards me. I was by bridge view the elk.

Beautiful hike! The waterfall is very small but there are endless blackberries!

Beautiful hike! Done this twice now. Just take lotsa water in summer

Falls are closed

Both trails that run along the north and south side of the creek are CLOSED. Nothing indicated when they would reopen.

The walk took us a little over 1 hour. It's rather easy than moderate we think (and we're beginning hikers). The view at the top is not amazing, but overall we liked the hike.

This trail is one of my favorites not to much hills, nice smooth stroller accessible all the way to Kelham beach To access the beach stay to the right when you meet the coast trail and go down when you get to the giant tree. you can't miss it.
Bring extra water. it's long but not too difficult.
Have fun

This is a must to do, this is the most beautiful trail that leads down to the ocean. it is steep going down and coming back up but the walk through the Redwoods is breathtaking. as you get to the end as others have said it says bridge out but we walked across it with no problem at all and within 50 feet you're looking down at the ocean. this is a must-do

Lots of climbing but pretty scenery throughout! I didn’t feel there was a big ‘pay-off’ moment at the top with a nice view so that’s why I’d rate this one a 4!

Lovely trail, too bad it burned. Hope to go back soon to see how the forest is recovering. We camped at Barlow Flats and it was perfect...

Fantastic hike! Loved the variety of vegetation and forest area and the beach at the end. The trail signs say it is closed but just ignore it. The trail is usable and the bridge is fine. It looked like there was a bit of a washout which makes part of the trail trickier but definitely manageable. We saw lots of children and old folk using the trail so it is usable for all ages and types. So worth the steep climb down and back for the ocean/beach at the bottom.

Great hike for novice hikers or people who want to get outdoors as the terrain is relatively flat.

Really enjoyable hike, and gorgeous waterfalls throughout. Quite a bit of climbing, but most of it is using stairs and rocks that stand in well for stairs.

lots of variety in this hike. towards the end the vegetation gets very thick and s little humid then suddenly everything opens up and you are on the beach with an incredible view
