This was a HARD trail, but the view was well worth it. Be prepared for thick snow and mist from the falls as you get close. I was hot on the first half of the hike and an ice ball at the top.
Great hike. Pretty shady, narrow trail with great views the whole time. The falls is definitely worth it, but there aren’t many good checkpoints along the way, so if you’re going to do it I would plan to do the whole thing.
Not so hard. 7 1/2 miles, definitely worth the trip.
Amazing. A harder moderate but so worth it. Go early. The trail is pretty narrow at times.
We woke up at 6 at Potwisha to start the hike, didn’t see anyone (except a snoozing deer) until the last bit of the return. The trail was definitely narrow at times, make sure to hydrate and get enough rest so you can watch your step! We were able to move aside for the few folks we saw going the other direction. It was chilly as we started but we warmed up quickly from the occasional inclines. The falls were beautiful! Plenty of spaces to sit and snack, breathe, etc. on flat rocks right by the water. As we walked to the falls, we were entirely in the shade, but the sun reached our faces halfway through the return trip.
Enjoyed the many trails to choose from. Beach trail closed unless you can jump 6’. Fun in the Sun!
It was a beautiful winter hike. I did this same hike last summer and it was difficult but this time I think it was almost double the effort due to the snow. As of 3/6/21 you will find snow right when you begin to have the good views of the waterfall. I think it is better with snow spikes but you can do it without it, a lot more effort for sure. The top is covered in snow but as of today you don't need snow shoes but it will likely change with the expected snow next week. Love this hike and it's views. Make sure to go the extra mile to Yosemite Point if you want a better and 360 view of the valley, a lot more snow around there but worth every step! As the previous review, it was harder for me to go down due to the snow, at least the first half.
This is a gnarly trail to say the least. It was definitely a challenge especially with the snow, both going up and down. The views of the waterfall are spectacular, as well as the view of the valley you get about 30 minutes hike past the initial view of the waterfall. I would highly recommend extending your hike the extra mile up to Yosemite point because the views at the end of the falls trail are honestly not that great. I definitely recommend trekking poles or some other traction devices, as well as starting this one early. Don’t underestimate the trail, know your limits, and it’ll be a fantastic experience :)
Excellent hike with breathtaking views the whole way. Worth taking the mile trek to Yosemite Point
Very nice
Great views
A great little trail right next to the visitors center to start your day at sequoia. Make sure to take your time to read the educational plaques, it taught us so much about the giants that we carried with us the rest of the day.
