Wonderful trail with steep rugged sections and some narrow sections. fantastic view at the end.

Saw a moose 10 feet away from the high traffic trail but the view at the end is absolutely gorgeous!!

A steep hour long climb up to great views over the clyburn valley and ingonish area. A loop trail. The trail is a old access road less steep and easier in the knees but long and boring. A couple lake lookouts.

As expected, spectacular views! Trail was an easy stroll. Saw families with strollers and flip flops. Had opportunity to pass through a Moose exclosure...be sure to close the gate behind you. Hiked this trail the day after we hiked the Franey trail. Wanted something easy. It was.

Beautiful, scenic and safe! You will also pass two beaches along the way. Very kid friendly as well.

Hike up was challenging. Great views from the top. Bring snacks and water. My 11 year old son brought a book and stopped to read a chapter when we reached the top ( 4 km marker). Took the ATV trail back down.

Nice quick trail at end of day. We completed this one after a late dinner to work off my large fish and chip plate.

Always a great hike with spectacular views. A good workout going up but how hard you will work is variable—you can determine the right pace for you. The back road, my usual way down, is an easy forest walk. A hike not to miss.

A challenging trail with a very steady ascent to the top but the payoff is certainly worth it. This trail rivals Skyline for the view from the top. absolutely fantastic!!

Beautiful scenery the entire length of the trail.

Take a left when u ascend. This section of the trail is gravel and dirt with benches along the way and a number of excellent look out points. The last two look outs have the best view of Chéticamp village and the Island. U can choose to go back down the same way or do the loop. If u do the loop, be mindful the conditions of the interior trail is rocky and many sections also muddy because it runs along a brook. U will see a number of small waterfalls. We saw a large black bear on our way up. He was on the trail and we observed him from a distance and waited for him to move out before continued.

Best view!

Franey does not disappoint! The view from the top was amazing! It is pretty demanding but doable for sure. We came back the road and were glad we did because the ascent was tough. Has to be one of the best hikes in Cape Breton!

Nice trail with many ocean look out points. There are a few places to go down to the water. A lot of bugs, bring bug spray. The Keltic lodge nearby also has good ocean view.

Gorgeous! Challenging to get up the mountain, but definitely worth the hike!

Fantastic views !Nice moderate trail. We did it in about 3 hours with numerous stops for views. the last half actually may have been the nicest, following the creek all the way back with a gradual descent. Trail actually shows as 8.4 kms.

Awesome hike

Great hike could be better marked from hwy as it looks like somebody’s driveway at first. View from the top is beautiful. Easy hike if for your fur baby’s also. Would be amazing in the fall colours time.

First time himing this trail and I had a blast. Good views at each point. Bit of a incline slop starting off but once you make ot past that its easy from there. Will be heading back soon.

Absolutely stunning view! And it’s totally worth it to go off trail near the end to get to the point! Just be careful if it’s windy! Also saw a moose at the beginning of the trail!

Great hike. We did the main trail all the way to the cabin and then did the western loop. It was quite wet in spots but was a great day to be outside enjoying the weather.

Wow! What an incredible hike. A group of 7 of us did this hike today (on May 1st). It definitely isn’t an easy trail, but it is also not hard. Moderate is a fair rating. Very steep at some point, but only for shorter spurts. I would recommend waiting until mid-May if you’re planning on going. The descending part of the loop was still VERY snowy and had a lot of fallen trees, so it might actually be wise to descend the same way as the ascend until the snow is gone. All of our socks got incredibly wet in our hiking boots. Still worth it for the amazing views at the top, and the delightful hike. It was cloudy/foggy when we began, but by the time we got to the top, we made it over the fog and it was great. It took about 3.5 hours with a substantial break at the top. Such a fun time!

amazing view. bring a beer to the top to enjoy the hard work. I suggest going up and down the same side. the windy road back down is easier but feels like it takes forever and not scenic at all.
