Easy trail, steep in places but nothing you can’t do in regular running shoes. Gorgeous view at the top- go down to the second look out around the corner from the first- well worth it!

Did this in the pouring rain. The steep uphill ascent felt like hell in the rain, but the payoff was worth.

Stunning cliff top views and easy forest paths. Mostly solid terrain with a couple rockier rough patches, many small hills. Very windy!

Definitely a “ moderate “ trail as the first half of it is straight up hill! The view was just amazing especially this time of the year being fall. Went on a clear day and you can see the Confederation Bridge and PEI. This is the reason we hike!

Best view of the trees in all of the Cabot trail in my opinion :) we go every time!!

Gorgeous views! About 4km exclusively uphill at the start with varying terrain (gravel, tree roots, rocks, stairs). Beautiful fall colors, streams and views along the way. Can be fairly wet along some parts but I didn't have an issue with sneakers. The various lookout points are astounding, particularly the very top. Absolutely breathtaking and also moderately difficult in terms of physical activity. Had about 105 "flights of stairs" on my Garmin watch and a heart rate up to 190. Took about 2 hours. Highly recommend!

Agree with all the other reviews - great trail, spectacular views. My second favourite walk in the Cape Breton park!

Beautiful view but just half of way was opened.

An easy trail with great views. The trail can be quite busy as it is close to the park entrance. Even so, there are sections where you will still experience the “alone in the wilderness” vibe. The trail is mostly flat with a few inclines and declines. I wore hiking boots but you could easily do it in sneakers or birkenstocks and you would be fine.

Cape Breton Red Chair here!

Very nice rugged trail along the Louisburg coastline!

Really nice hike. Great views at the top. Like others we took the service road down and actually ran into a bear on the trail. Gave it some space and it was fine. Just be careful if you do the hike in the early morning or closer to the evening.

This was a beautiful hike with stunning views. All uphill if you keep to the left. If you go right, it’s easier going but you will punish your knees on the decent. If you’re an occasional hiker this trail isn’t for you.
Again, loved every step.
Note. Trail ended up at 10.9km all said and done.
Loved it!

Nice walk with a bit of wildlife along the way (moose and “hikers” with flip flops). Nice view at the end with a big descending boardwalk. A bit busy for my liking but a fun trip nonetheless.

Great trail. Relatively easy.

Fun hike through forests and around the point which opens up to a great sea view. Be sure to take the wide loop upon return to get a break from other hikers.

A great trail! We started up on the western trail, which is a little steeper. But completely doable. Of course we saw tons of other hikers, but we had a number of nice chats when we stopped to rest, usually at the scenic overlooks. We were able to see all the destruction caused by the moose, as well as the very different areas of the forrest. We very much enjoyed the views of the coast, and the stroll along the creek.

The trail is in amazing shape, beautifully manicured and even has a bathroom in the middle. We were unlucky and happened to be visiting when smoke from the west coast fires created a TON on haze and the sunset was completely blocked out by the haze.

But...we did see a moose as we returned to the car. We saw it just to be east of the fenced in area (to keep out the moose). I will post a picture. The moose came way to close (for my liking), we were about 50 feet away as it galloped by, quite a treat!

Challenging but fun ascent to a beautiful view at the top. Descent was on a much tamer fire road with a nice lake about halfway down.

Loved the diversity of this trail! Nice climb with beautiful views on the way up, and a beautiful brook side walk on the way down. Loved the moss-covered rocks in the brook. So peaceful!

Was a bit disappointed with this trail after hearing and reading all the hype. Yes, there is a very nice view at the end. But getting there felt like being on the hiking super highway. Far too many people for my liking, and the “trail” was better than some of the roads we drove earlier in the day! Having said that, we had done the Kauzmann Trail and Meat Cove Overlook earlier in the day. Just about anything would pale in comparison.

Der Trail ist einfach zu laufen, nur die letzten Meter über die Stufen sind anstrengend, dafür ist die Aussicht grandios und es sind sehr viele Leute unterwegs

Beautiful views and well maintained trail. We took the service road back down which is definitely the easier way to go as it is less steep.

Wonderful trail with steep rugged sections and some narrow sections. fantastic view at the end.

Saw a moose 10 feet away from the high traffic trail but the view at the end is absolutely gorgeous!!

A steep hour long climb up to great views over the clyburn valley and ingonish area. A loop trail. The trail is a old access road less steep and easier in the knees but long and boring. A couple lake lookouts.

As expected, spectacular views! Trail was an easy stroll. Saw families with strollers and flip flops. Had opportunity to pass through a Moose exclosure...be sure to close the gate behind you. Hiked this trail the day after we hiked the Franey trail. Wanted something easy. It was.

Beautiful, scenic and safe! You will also pass two beaches along the way. Very kid friendly as well.

Hike up was challenging. Great views from the top. Bring snacks and water. My 11 year old son brought a book and stopped to read a chapter when we reached the top ( 4 km marker). Took the ATV trail back down.
