Highly recommend this trail for its diverse terrain and there’s so much more than just the falls out there. If you decide to take the challenge I would suggest going counter clock wise and avoid the annoying crowds congregating at the falls area, you won’t see them until near the end. Most of the trail is downhill this way, and way more enjoyable. Once you make the falls area, sit and rest and enjoy the scenery .... it’s a nice payoff.

I’d recommend hiking shoes, with good grip and comfortable insoles .... your feet are going to thank you!

Very shady trek, wide trail, multitude of trees. Overall a great little escape only minutes away. A restroom along stream trail, nothing on west ridge portion.

Hey there! Anyone know if the trail is open? I went by today and the road was closed...

Thanks!

great views along the way, and great payoff at the waterfall along the beach. be careful on the climb down to the beach.

This hike is awesome. Great ocean views, lakes, forest, waterfalls. It is one of my favorite local hikes. Well worth the trip even though it’s pretty heavily trafficked.

It's more a walk than a hike. The first part is quite beautiful along the stream with redwood trees and ferns lining the path.

Hiked this trail about two weeks ago and it was perfect. Very lightly trafficked. I recommend going counterclockwise to go through the neighborhood and “trespassing” section. Trail was a bit overgrown. About half the trail gets shaded. Great vistas and forest environments.

This trail was perfect for a beginner had a little of everything.. views, shady trees, rough areas, we loved will do it again

one of most beautiful and easiest hikes in the area. best place to see sequoias outside Sequoia or Yosemite National Parks. just note that this hike is also in another National Park and you need to pay

Wonderful hike! Arrived at the parking lot 10am Saturday 12/29/18 and there were still space. Relatively easy trail with indicators to the fall. There is some rock scrambling involved, so be careful. When we left 1pm, the parking lot was packed and there were cars parked along the dirt road.

Beautiful, well marked trail. Definitely will be back to check out the other surrounding trails and do this one again!

One of the best work-for-reward ratios in California. A wildly versatile out and back with very little technical terrain until the final approach to the falls. There you'll find amazing views of the pacific amongst a steady flow of water from the falls. The cliffs are an amazing spot for some food and drinks, or simply personal reflection. I also recommend the slightly more technical walk down to the beach on a steep trail off to the right (looking to the Pacific). There you'll see the falls finish their journey to the ocean. Don't sit too close to the walls though, as the rockfall is a consistent reminder that the erosion that created these cliffs is a never-ending job for mother nature.

Soooo worth it. Such a beautiful hike and the falls are one of a kind. The white arrow at the turn off is almost faded so be aware of where you are going.

Depending on the weather it can be killer in the heat or cold (during winter)

Make sure to wear proper hiking shoes, as I saw a vast majority of people wearing running/sneaker shoes. There are a few patches of loose gravel. You’ve been warned

I’ve done this trail twice: once in September and once a few days ago in December. It’s a great workout and quite a challenge! The scenery is beautiful the whole way up but particularly incredible at the peak. There was a little Christmas tree at the summit in December! Bring plenty of water and sun screen. If you don’t stop, you can get up and back down in between 2-2.5 hours. I recommend bringing a snack to eat at the top and enjoying the scenery before your hike down hill. I’ll definitely do this again!

6 or 3 miles hikes loop! amazing views and it was fun and challenging getting across some big rocks on the trail. Would definitely do it again!

It is really windy today and lots lots of people. It took us, two adults, five kids 4 and a half hours to finish the entire loop. My phone showed we actually walked 6.8 miles, not 5.8. One of the hardest trail we walked so far.

We started at 8:45 am and finished by 10:30 am . Hard hike but Felt great after done . This year achievement has been successful . :)
It was freezing up on the peak , can’t feel my ears and arms . so sensitive hands ,please carry gloves .

Amazing views. parked at ohlone, used peak trail to do a loop and I clocked in 10 miles!!! So make sure you have plenty of time. One of my fav hikes in the bay. Beautiful sunset though it is crowded. All in sun

It took several hours, nice view! However, the weather is too dry, a lot of dust on the trail. Will suggest to try after little rain.

Hard hike, awesome views but BE AWARE where you park. There are low lives prowling around looking for unsuspecting victims. My car was broken into. Really heart breaking when you accomplish such a hike and come back to realize your car was broken into

Arguable the most beautiful trail I’ve ever hiked. Period. If you are not afraid of heights, definitely try to climb on some of the rocks that can help you see the view better.

gorgeous trail and amazing falls but don't miss the turn off to the falls! there are no signs indicating Alamere Falls. there is a pile of rocks in the shape of an arrow at about mile 4 that indicates the trail that leads down to the falls. it is a clear trail but we missed it because it just looks like it would be a quick/unofficial offshoot. missing it added another 4 miles for us as we decided to do the lake loop and come back. the falls were gorgeous and very unique. black sand beach. most of the trail is relatively easy, no steep parts until you get to the falls and go down to the beach.

my favorite trail in bay area!

One of the most beautiful trails and not difficult at all! Can't wait to come back.

Great workout. Saw lots of cows, make sure you avoid their dung on the trail. View is incredible

Beautiful and serene. Breathtaking

Beautiful flat hike! Best for winter months with cold winds and mild sun. Cows are pretty friendly, just stay away from young ones, they feel threatened easily.
