Don’t miss this if you are in the area.
I took James Irvine trail to Fern Canyon which was about 4.5miles one way. Once in the Fern Canyon Hike along the creek to get the full experience, your feet will get wet but well worth it. Feels like you are in a prehistoric movie set. I was there for 30mins without meeting a soul. I am sure it will get more crowded in the summer.

Walked it today in the rain with 4 little kids. It was so peaceful and the kids had a blast going inside of trees!

Visited in September of 2015. Beautiful for a nice easy stroll through these amazing trees. Perfect for all ages and skill levels. I’d definitely recommend grabbing one of the info brochures to read about the history and interesting facts. Overall, an easy way to experience the redwoods and honor one of the great women in our country’s history!

Majestic hike among the old growth redwood. We did the hike yesterday, 3/29/18. Great intermediate hike for a few hours with great picture opportunities. However, both captures the sights, smell and feel. The visitors center is a great place to stop for trail advice based on your time, level and desitmred sights. Ranger/staff are very friendly and helpful.

If I could, this would be an annual pilgrimage to walk among the giants and recharge the soul.

beautiful drive, great easy hiking trails to do with family and little ones.

Get your feet wet. Hike over logs.

great place for a fire and sunset with libations

Stunning a must see. Go when it’s not busy. Plan to stop at all the viewpoints or even better walk the coast trail between them. Plan to have your lunch on the rocks or in the private caves.

Beautiful hike. We did this last March. Glad we hiked in water shoes and shorts, as a good stretch of it we hiked right in the creek. Loved all the elk in the area.

Beautiful and easy hike through the Redwoods, birds singing, not much traffic until it connects to Big Tree.

If you are in Northern California, this is a MUST. A very easy but extremely beautiful and magical experience. You will feel like you're in Jurassic Park. If going in the Spring, may want to consider wear waterproof boots! Your feet will surely get a tad or two wet.

This is where part of Star Wars was filled. Felt like an alien planet. Beautiful and mysterious.
Saw many bull elk while hiking. Not to be messed with.
Loved the place.

Easy stroll through tons of redwoods. Grab the trail map for a self guided tour and info on the history. Best time to go is February, no crowds.

Saw tons of elk. Nice easy hike.

Lovely, small beach. Lots of cool rocks. would like to explore the trail or hills leading to the beach though. did not take the scenic route.

Relatively easy and short hike. Beautiful introduction to the Redwoods for me. would be awesome for kids or people who aren't fit.

Although I'm a much bigger fan of moderate / hard rated trails, this trail will always be a true favorite. It is most definitely an easy trail so it's perfect for anyone! Thankfully even my baby sister agrees to "hike" this trail with me, which makes for wonderful family exploring time.

And there's truly nothing more majestic! You drive through groves of trees, along the ocean, park, and walk up to the canyon's grand entrance - see the pictures I've uploaded if you don't believe me!

You hike through the entirety of the canyon of ferns, up and out through more groves of trees, and back down to the entrance of the canyon before retreating to your vehicle. Although it's short, you can spend as much time as you want in the canyon, which is always my preference.

If you want a hike that's simple and allows time for reflection, then this hike is perfect for you and your loved ones.

LOTS of interesting stops along the way! Make sure to stop at Shrine's drive thru tree.

Very fun and accessible with plenty of amazing views!!

At the north end of the Samuel Boardman s.s.c. is a remote(kinda) stretch of beach.Very rough and rocky.Great tide pools.Use a turnout north of the paved one at Arch rock viewpoint about a mile or so.The Oregon Coast trail is just below.Follow the coast trail north to access the beach at two different places near the south end of this beach. There is NO other access to this beach,so the return to the coast trail is coming back to these access places.

This is a fun little loop. If you don’t want to get super wet, you can ninja your way thru most of it without having to get too deep...but, there are a few points where you really just have to go for it. Waterproof boots, above the ankles for those who aren’t into getting wet. My wife and I loved this one. Stop often and take in your surroundings. It’s likely you’ve never seen anything like it before.

Was beautiful , steep for this old lady and slippery. Worth the trek!

Nice trail through the forest, but nothing spectacular. Plenty of mushrooms to discover during wet season though! The best groves in my opinion in this park are on the Friendship Ridge! This trail is 6.9 miles according to the ranger with a more accurate map. Overall, a nice and fairly easy stroll... took me about 3 hours from the parking lot.

Its a must..... gotta do it!!!

Great smooth hike ! Short but beautiful!
Perfect stop on our way back from Portland to San Francisco. Easy and prefect nature break before to head back to the city!

There was lot of water when we had been there. Since it rained a lot a day before we went there. There were about 3 water streams which our car had to pass to get to the fern canyon trailhead. Since our car was not SUV, we decided to park right before the first stream and walk one more mile before reaching the actual trailhead. Fern canyon was pretty amazing, we walked to the end of the trail in the water running like river. It was so much fun!! If anyone is visiting it in recent 2 days, don't try to save your shoes, no matter what you are going to get wet! :)

Beautiful canyon to see Maiden Hair Ferns that require hiking up a shallow river. This is a very short trail so continue on to one of the connecting trails for a longer hike is a must!
