Just like the other reviews good trail very well maintained, not too steep good if you are looking for a couple hour workout and want privacy

fun trail.love the waterfalls

Beautiful trail and nice hike. Only downside is that they seem to have put new "No Parking" signs at the trailhead, so we were not sure where to park. We parked about a mile away on the road where we could pull off. Maybe someone else can provide recommendations on where to park!

does anyone recall where the sundial is located on this hike? its an old stone Indian sundial which is off the trail itself. I think its on the ridge part above Forest Knolls.

#tenlegstosunset We are still getting used to the time change and short days and the sun set on us early in this one. Western skies were clear, and once the stars came up, it was gorgeous.
The dogs, particularly Murphy in the lead, are showing more and more comfort with the darkness and our lights.
Just have to be calm and confident.
This trail is in EXCELLENT shape. Thank you to the trail folks for keeping it so incredible. I know it’s popular with the mountain bikes, but I’ll tell you the trails are plenty wide for hiking and the rocky portions have been worked to where it is very comfortable, except the last couple loops up top, which is expected.

Just a heads up the trail map at the trail head is different than the one posted here, so pick one or the other to follow.

Saw some nice doggos!

Gorgeous! Great hike with 2 bridges

More commonly called Bridgeport. Not a great trail for small children. I have a 4 year old and it’s a somewhat narrow trail for a child. If I was alone, I would rate it 5 stars. Lots of trails down to the beautiful water to swim. Very crowded in summer towards the trailhead, the further you go, the more peaceful it gets.

A beautiful walk any time of year, but absolutely gorgeous in spring when the wild flowers are in bloom. Mostly flat, wide trail (unless you choose to go down to one of the swimming spots on the river). It's a popular trail for good reason!

Definitely a scenic hike. Had a lot of different pools to explore and involves a bit of climbing. Great for a quick trip to a waterfall.

Great view of the 3 Shastas.

Lovely day. Couldn't see Mt Shasta today but beautiful views and either I'm getting used to the burn effects or they are starting to fade.

Easy walk... did it with family (3 kids aged 8, 11 and 12). Amazing views at many spots, but primarily once close to the top! Takes an hour up and an hour down approximately by foot.

If you're an avid hiker, this is an easy trail. If you're new to it, moderate. Beautiful hike taking you through the forest of mixed trees of golden Aspen , pine and fur and alongside trickling creek and calming pools of water. Plenty of places to stop along the trail to hike in a little bit to have a picnic lunch by one of the many water pools.

The trail is not easy to follow but it's not hard to get back on when you realize you're going the wrong way. Just make sure the creek is to the right of you. As long as you can hear it, you're good. When you are almost to the falls, you'll be climbing up and over boulders. Make sure you have appropriate shoes that have good traction.

This trail is doable in runners or cross-trainers but the terrain is a bit tricky. Rocks, sticks, logs and one small part of trail where you're walking over a pooled water area covered with logs. I would recommend shoes that have ankle support. If you aren't careful, you can easily roll your ankles. I did this in trail running shoes and was fine.

Great short hike. Really good incline to start off leading all the way up to many options coming back to meet the same trail. Seen deer, some squirrels, a lizard and a couple bigger birds. Found a fun swing. Overall a good short hike to catch some morning fresh air.

Very nice falls and trails however there are lack of guidance signs to get to the starting points and also to the destination points... people may get lost if they do have maps or offline navigation, trail does not get signal.

Beautiful hike!! The trail is very hard to follow but it doesn’t really matter, it is very difficult to get lost! Just follow the creek and you won’t get lost. This was a very fun hike, not too difficult at all and lots of area to explore. We ended up taking the very low creek/river bed back to the trailhead and it was a great way to take back. Beautiful and fun!

Perfect!

Super fun bouldering toward the upper part of the falls. The trail is not always real obvious, but you’re always in cell service and GPS works great. Lots of friendly people on the trail, too. The lower part of the trail is pretty shady and there are a lot of picture perfect places to stop along the way.

This is a nice trail for trail running, hiking, mountain biking, or walking.
Close to Redding area and provides a good workout with a decent elevation climb. Good well marked trails, just be aware you are sharing with other outdoor enthusiasts so keep your eyes open for trail runners and mountain bikers.
This trail head offers the option of tying into the Sacramento River trail system as well as just staying on the Flannigan or Chamise trails.
Beautiful views, from the top of Chamise trail, of Shasta Dam & surrounding areas.

always amazing here.

Best in winter/spring when the falls are flowing. Trail is a little difficult to follow.
Views are stunning at the top.

Was hard to follow at times. Loved the ability to stop and enjoy the water on the way back. Got caught in a little rain. Be careful! Rocks became slick pretty quickly.

Amazing views and geology. Hike would be even better when creek is flowing. We could have wandered around the magnificent rock formations for hours. The trail is very well defined getting to the huge rock outcropping but disappears completely...only occasional painted arrows. I was glad to have my friendly blue dot from AllTrails showing me how to find the trail to get back. We were only hikers on 4 Oct...bit creepy with bullet holes in trash cans and booze bottle litter at trailhead bathrooms. The trail is easy but moderate IF you choose to climb/explore.

Awesome hike! Trail can be difficult to follow but well worth the time.

Super easy, beautiful trail! I started at the dam, and went toward the launch ramp, and made the loop all the way around. The path was paved and pretty flat most of the way around, and then turned into dirt and a few hills at the end. Went on a weekend, and there wasn’t much foot traffic or activity at the lake, it was perfect! Lots of spots to stop and take breaks, if you want. Very dog friendly! Lots of places for my dog to head down to the water and get a little swim in. Would definitely go back!

Such a beautiful, relaxing trail! It’s not directly on the creek, but there are plenty of paths on the trail that lead down to it! The path is well kept and soft? It has this clay-like dirt which makes the ground very forgiving and less wear and tear on the knees and feet! Definitely can’t wait to do this again!

Great trail! Absolutely beautiful. Well kept path and diverse scenery. Got in the water to cool off and splash around too. Only negatives were the traffic (Saturday afternoon) and the dogs on leash, which was actually preferable with how many other people had animals as well. Would definitely recommend it as an easy but beautiful walk.

Trail head is almost impossible to find. I had to ask several locals along the way exactly how to find it. The trail isn't marked very well at the forks so it's easy to take the wrong path. I wouldn't really call this a trail since it forces you to go through downtown Nevada City, then walk on a paved residential street for about a mile, then along a crushed rock road for another mile just to get to a path running along an NID ditch. At the last 2 miles there weren't many trees so I would never do this one again in hot weather. If you just want a walk down to the creek(which is nice) then this might be an option. If you want an 8 mile hike this isn't a very good trail for that.

Hiked the trail in May. All five of us and two dogs were covered in tics. I recommend just enjoying the river and forgo the hike. We hiked to the end and never could find the waterfall. It was a disappointment.
