Beautiful trail through a canyon. Seasonal bridges aren’t up yet so you have to walk through the stream. The canyon is full of lush ferns, very serene little hike. The road to the trail head is pretty rough and had a couple of streams, we were in a low clearance sedan so pulled over at one particular stream (other sedans had too) and walked in - was only 1.5 miles so not a big deal - but adds time if you’re not ready for it. The staff member at the entrance station was really helpful and did pre warn us about this.
so beautiful!!!!
tired to make some new trail connections. no luck, had to double back
Stunning easy to moderate hike around the peninsula. Great hiking in late February. lush green forests Rocky cliff sides with crashing waves. Strong winds. hiked in a t-shirt and didn't need my windbreaker
Walked to the corkscrew tree and back. A lovely place!
I thought I was starting the west ridge trail but the loop was much longer than 5 miles, I may have gotten a little lost but decided to keep going. Ended up doing a 9 mile loop - it was just gorgeous. Had the trail all to myself on a Monday. Loop was fairly flat first 5 miles, with some moderate incline in the last 4 (counter-clockwise). Had to cross a little stream at one point, I was able to cross over on a log because I wanted to keep dry, but it might be tough for tall people as you have to crawl under a fallen tree to get back on the trail (though tall people may be able to jump over hehe)
Wonderful walk in late February along the beach over small rock piles with cliff sides and crashing waves. The water was super cold but very clear. this beach is extremely friendly and fun for dogs
Absolutely gorgeous trail and views. The trail itself was moderate to walk, there were some challenging parts, but I wasn’t overly tired or sore after completing the hike. My friend and I went on 2/6/21.
Love it!!!
Easy/moderate trail. Views are breathtaking of the ocean. Many different things to observe along the way (cypress trees, whale watching, bird watching, cliff points, beaches) this trail could easily turn into a full day activity. I’d say there’s something on this trail for everyone to enjoy :) Only put off for me is that at different points you enter parking lots then continue on the trail. For me this takes away the feeling of being emerged into the forest...
Point Lobos is always beautiful! Easy trail, took a short side trip to Gibson Beach. If you’ve never been to Point Lobos, would recommend also hiking over to the Cyprus Grove and Whalers Cove. Just go early - parking already closed (on a Sunday) by 9:20 am. Easy to park and walk in. And just be careful of poison oak.
Sweeping views and lots of sea life. Wear layers, the wind makes it cold.
Easy hike with the kids age 3-7
It has amazing views over the ocean, beaches, coves, rocks, waves and so forth. The beauty is breathtaking like it is throughout the general Big Sur, Carmel and Monterey area,
to much beauty to rush
Stunning. The road to the trailhead from the coast was in very poor condition - I would not attempt it in a compact car.
Stunning. The redwoods are sky high and the trail construction is masterful.
Nice easy flat trail. Ends at a secluded beach. Be prepared to cross the cold river up to your knees. Worth it for a hike with very few people.
