Love these mountains the views are beautiful and it’s very quiet/not busy at all. Be prepared for no cover or shaded areas. Very windy at the top which cools you down but be careful! Very fun hike

This paved trail was a nice hike. Not a long one, however, going up hill I could feel it! Great stops along the way with benches and information about the wild life. Going down hill was a bit tricky at first due to a knee replacement that tends to cause issues when going down. However highly recommend this hike. The views alone make it worth the walk. All ages were hiking and even some were jogging. More power to them!

Go early ! It’s warm. But a great trial run. Pups loved it.

Great little hike for the start/end of the day. All paved. Open 4am-10pm.

We’re lucky to have this gem so close to town. Just hard enough to keep you humble. Rewarding views at the top.

I love Tumamoc. It’s a great day activity for a good workout.

BS... love a good reason for no dogs ⁉️

Quick short hike up Tumamoc after an hr of skating!! Dead legs but awesome feel!! Great views all around and huge sahuaros !! Definitely doing it again!!

Rough trail! Need lots of water and trekking poles are a must! Bring a first aid kit and some snacks! Pretty challenging for me and my 14yr old son!

Unless you are a billy goat or do this type of climbing often you will have trouble getting to the summit. We got so close but did not have the courage to do the last 200 feet of climbing like Spider-Man. The views are definitely beautiful. As others have mentioned the trail is only marked by cairns which were such a comfort to see as we lost the trail numerous times. Descent was extremely tricky with the loose rocks but we lived with only minor scrapes and scratches. Poles were a must for us...50 + year old knees. Excellent day but super challenging. Also nice extra to have a Porto John at the Sanctuary.

This is one of my favorite favs! It’s definitely challenging and I try to do it at least once each time we’re in Tuscon (2x yr)!

Four stars because of the limited public access (Sunday’s).

This is the 6th time I’ve hiked Brown: twice at the base, twice on the loop, once straight up the S end and back down, and (today) from one end to the other. My hiking buddy and I parked one rig at each end of the mountain. We began at the Trailhead off McCain Loop, and finished at the north end (by the restrooms). We stopped several times, since we hiked during the heat of the day (which I do not recommend). Brown is always a great workout!

Usually I research the history of the trail before hiking it.. I didn't do it this time as it was a spur of the moment activity. The little I knew of the trail, I knew it was a copper mine with a gated cover into the mine shaft. Needless to say I didn't find the entrance to the mine shaft but I did find the block house and other structures that were used by these miners over 100 years ago. Amazing to me was that I saw remnants of what I thought were rusted out cans that were left behind by inconsiderate hikers. These "artifacts" as it turned out, were tucked under heavy brush and cacti ad I didn't take a picture of them. I was tempted to pack them out but didn't. Amazing. The link below gives a brief history of the mine.

Great hike. Go when it’s cool as that last peak is daunting in the heat.

Well travelled trail. Not well marked. Loose rock on parts to make it interesting. Minimal elevation yet still had a good workout.

Couldn't find trail head or any trail markers. found a beaten down bath with bike tracks but in a sketchy neighborhood.

Great cardio workout! For people of all ages!

A great Cardio workout, Especially if you make it past the half way mark.
The climb a bit more difficult, Quite a steep incline.
I love hiking this during the early morning summer months.
When the desert cactus is are blooming.
Once you made it to the top a great view of the city of Tucson

This is a beautiful trail and a fantastic way to see the Tucson mountains. Fairly dense saguaros, varied terrain, and gorgeous views. My only complaint was that I saw several dogs which are clearly prohibited as stated on the sign. Now, I am a serious dog lover and honestly don’t mind them out there, but there were many piles of poo on the trail so either someone’s not picking up after their pets and/or there are some critters about that could seriously harm your pet. Be cautious and courteous if you’re going to bring Fido.

Great cardio workout!

Beautiful hike amongst the saguaros. Very nice for families, dogs, and mountain bikes. I would rate it easy to moderate due to the rocky spots at times.

Hiked from Gilbert Ray Campground. Trail to top of Brown Mountain then loops back to parking area. Great views.

Enjoyed this desert hike in the different cactus. Elevation was not taxing. The trail was fine, but you needed to watch your step. Beautiful 360 view from the peak.

This has become one of my favorite hikes. The first time I went I found it extremely challenging and couldn't breathe well but my second time around was much better and now I'm able to do it with some ease. Definitely recommend! Great views at sunset time.

Well maintained paved path great views and lots of wild life. It is fun but if your not in semi good shape take your time.

Pretty good workout for 3 sisters in our 60s. Got our heart rates up & we were able to keep stomping along. Short break @ the buildings & powered up the last part. Whew! Great views. Downhill was a relief.

A good place for exercise. Not difficult at all. You can see the downtown at the top.

Too easy. Could see the toad and cars from the trail. Prefer trails where I don’t see any houses or cars. Won’t be doing this one again.
