Wonderful and relaxing hike. Easier, but longer to head down to the camp and walk up the beach to see the falls, quite the long route. Or, make sure to take a small trail to the left where a pile of painted rocks are, paint is worn FYI. Then you can head down another path that is quite steep with loose gravel requiring some climbing. Be safe and be smart.

Takes close to 3.5 to 4 hours round trip including breaks. The end point is beaultiful with a view of the beach. Beware of the cliffs, and there is no proper trail to get down to the beach for the view of the falls. Be safe, and enjoy the trail!

Amazing course where there’s a little of everything, including a secret entrance. Be prepared for the slight rock climbing when reaching the falls.

One of my favorite hikes in the Bay! The scramble down to the beach was a bit precarious but beyond worth it! Just advisable to do with a friend or get help from another hiker to prevent falling. I’d imagine it would be challenging for older / less agile folks.

Nice trail!! Would recommend. Steep when getting down to the beach. No shorts because you need to climb on the rock. The rocks were sharp, pls be careful

No Road Bike Trail! Per the Ranger!

AMAZING HIKE!!

Pros
-Great things to see the whole way up.
-Finding the trail was not too difficult.
-Everyone is very friendly on trail.

Cons
-Very rocky terrain the entire way. Make sure to wear good hiking shoes.
-Very steep and not easy. Make sure to stay hydrated, stretch, and pace yourself. I didnt do any of those and cramped up pretty hard. I was lucky people were nice enough to provide water and energy bars.

Some people brought their dogs. I thought the ground was too rocky and sharp for them. Not a good idea if your dog is not used to that.

Worth it! Just dont be an idiot like me and prepared.

Tough trail, not a warm-up by any means.

Nice hiking beautiful waterfall

Tip: to avoid the unofficial and potentially dangerous descent down to the falls that some folks are warning about, the official park map has you going approx 1 mile north past the falls on Coast Trail and/or Ocean Loop trail towards the Wildcat Camp. From Wildcat you go down onto the beach and head back south to the falls, returning the same way.

Very Crowded. The heavy traffic on this trail has degraded the already super sketchy descent to the beach at the falls. Hopefully there are friendly hikers to help you get down. Otherwise, its questionable weather it’s worth it to go down to the beach at all. Nice trail though. Cool views and flat trails.

Great Hike! Dont underestimate the difficulty level. Took me 5 hours to get up and 3 to get down. Got to the car right as it was turning pitch black outside

I hiked this from Vikingsholm a few miles down towards DL Bliss and back. It was a bright sunny walk along the edge of a beautiful mountain lake. Despite that I saw no other hikers on the trail. This was an amazing break between days of driving. So peaceful!

Great view especially under good weather. Not crowd at all.

on Five Lakes Trail

Great area. I went counter-clockwise and the South side of the loop was incredibly difficult to keep track of. Had to look for the trail constantly but the lakes are beautiful!

We loved this hike! Even in off season it can get busy after 10am, so start around 9.

If you’re athletic, it will take 2-3 hours.

The trails are not marked well around the lakes, so be prepared to wander around there a bit.

Great hike. It was a little longer, but worth every step. The most beautiful hike I’ve ever done. Go early in the morning to be beat the crowds. Brings at least 2 L of water if you’re an experienced hiker. Go all the way to the top! Definitely bring proper gear, food & plenty of water.

moderate to hard hike..harder on descent then cardio on way up as a lot of shale on trail..where as elevation gain is gradual..thighs will feel it on way down..trekking poles not my thing at this stage..but be sure of footing due to rocks..couple spots trail does somewhat disappear..but not hard to rediscover..fantastic weather for mid November and great views..at summit as well as ridgeline at start along fallen leaf lake..couple smaller lakes along way up for h20..but overall I would rate it moderate..and Jessie hope u were ok on descent..

Challenging hike. Wear proper gear and bring food, and water. When hiking in the fall or winter, start early or you will be hiking in the dark. It can take 5 to 7 hours to complete for an average hiker while taking time to appreciate the views of Lake Tahoe, Fall Leaf Lake and the surrounding evergreen forests

Such a beautiful hike. Brings lots of water and snacks and/or lunch that you can eat at the falls.

Great trail!

Great hike! I was glad I wore my hiking boots for this. The trail is rocky as everyone says but is a gradual ascent and not too steep. Our moving time was just over 4.5 hours total, going at a steady, moderate pace. I recorded it with photos. It took us 2.5 hours to ascend and 2 to descend - due to the rocky trail, be careful to leave plenty of time for the descent, especially in the fall and winter with shorter periods of daylight and cold temps once the sun goes down. We spent about 45 minutes on top and took many photos along the way. So far, this is my favorite Tahoe hike because of the near constant spectacular views!

Amazing! I only give it 4 stars because of lack of trail markers! Pay attention and it is so worth it! This has been on my bucket list and very rewarding! Not as hard as I imagined ! Take nuts for the over friendly chipmunks at the top:)

Climb is up to the lakes only then a cool little loop to see all 5 lakes and all downhill from there. Just pace yourself up, and this will be a very nice outing-loop the lakes- and down. As others stated, follow your map on the app around the lakes. Not super defined, but not hard to adjust and figure out either. Have fun!

I will start with advice, if you want the best trip to the falls check the SF tides chart. Try to get to the falls 2 hours before or after low tide, any other time there will be no beach to see the falls from, it will all be water. And you will have to stay on the rocks.
Also from the top of The falls to the bottom is very sharp loose shale rock you are on you butt going down and must use your hands and knees going up, with shorts your knees could be cut up.

The trail itself is great, it goes from hundreds of feet up above the water to completely shaded by the trees.
Not much uphill at all

The rockiest trail ever!!! Amazing views, friendly hikers and so many rocks. Made soup at the top and took in the views!! Take plenty of water and or filter. A few lakes you can filter water from up there. Also take some snacks and trekking poles. Steep incline that’s hard on the knees after ascending/descending. Saw a chipmunk.

Beautiful hike with shade along the way. A long hike at 13-14 miles but so worth it. Take some snacks to enjoy the beach once you arrive ! It’s a busy hike but not too many people. Parking gets full very quick so unless you want to hike a couple more miles , get there early to get parking.

One of the most amazing hikes I have done this season and with the most spectacular views too. I highly recommend this hike if your up in the Lake Tahoe area.

Great hike. Make sure to get out early because it gets busy.

Busy but not too crowded. Trailhead parking is definitely packed by mid morning on the weekends. This is a fun one!
