I enjoy Moulton Falls area Every time. this time I actually went off the big, flat trail for Moulton Falls and checked out about a mile of Bells Mtn. Hoping to do the whole thing in the spring or summer.

Decent little jaunt, it’s fun to explore a place practically in our backyard. Good place to walk a dog.

As an avid hiker, this was by no means a hike, but a leisurely stroll. We took time to stop and take a lot of pictures, gorgeous rainy day, the falls were full and raging.

Still one of my favorite trails to hike. Even if it’s a little muddy right now. There were about five down trees last week. Now there is only one to circumnavigate.

It's an easy hike that follows the river. I don't think we ever found Moulton Falls but we continued and saw Lucia Falls. There are zero signs on the trail. I took the advice of previous people and took a picture of the map, though that didn't help us. I'll give it 3 stars for being easy, having pretty enough views of the river the whole time. However, it's crowded and the falls remain a mystery to me.

Road closed 5 miles from the trailhead due to snow. But I am excited to go back in the Spring.

A great place for an easy hike. Just don't go in the summer if you don't like crowds.

mountain biking

I did my first mountain bike here this afternoon. And it was awesome. Fairly easy trail but lots of fun. I went up to the falls day picnic area and turned around which is under 5 miles. Need to yield with peds and horseback riders but everyone has food etiquette and friendly. I plan to do the trail again and go even further.

Good hike

Gorgeous river and waterfalls!

Awesome view! On a clear day 3 gorgeous mountains. Pitch dark when we headed back to parking lot, best place to do stargazing! Lots of shooting stars too.

Super easy out and back. Went on a crisp January day, damp and overcast with about a dozen people on the mostly paved trail with me.

Its a nice trail but nothing special. Very well maintained. Be prepared for lots of stairs and hills. Would be very pretty at sunrise.

my 2 year old loved this adventure! the wooded trails were beautiful. The waterfront was all rocks but had tons of shells she loved to pile up and point out all the colors. AWESOME trail for kids.

It’s a really beautiful trail. Great for an easy walk with kids or dogs. I would have given 5 stars, but the gunfire really is what ruins the ambiance. Nothing against guns, but they’re just not what you’re looking to hear when you’re going for a walk in the woods (or at least we aren’t). Otherwise it’s awesome.

Love this trail and I’m lucky it’s right in my backyard

This trail was lovely. It had some ups and downs but not unmanageable. We took our two senior dogs and they seemed to do just fine. Was a little muddy this time of year, wear good shoes.

Just finished this! Very nice paved or packed trail. Pretty views start/finish of Round Lake. Fun little waterfalls and rock formations here and there. A few tiny uphill sections if you go the south route first. If you go north first, you will have a bigger uphill section. Very few dogs, most on leash. Some runners. Very few bikers. Really nice!

This was a very beautiful hike! Easy to do but requires shoes with good traction. There is a section after the bridge that allows you to go down by the water but we were unable to venture down due to slippery conditions. Highly recommend this hike in summer/fall!!

Easy hike with views of lake, streams, small waterfall. Saturday hike light traffic on trail. Mostly shaded with tree cover. Good hike for kids, dogs too.

This one is fun. Suspension bridges and ladders make it especially unique. Great views of waterfalls and cascades. I did the entire trail and as other reviews have said just be careful and know that you probably shouldn’t bring pets/children. At the split near the beginning of the trail I veered right and went over the bridge. I think this is the better route because you get great views of the falls on the way back up.
Here's a video of my experience: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bF5ragxSIw8&t=4s

***After the 30 foot ladder but before the next bridge there is another smaller ladder that is somewhat hard to find. It leads to a short out/back trail on a ridge that pays off with extraordinary views.

Travelers note:
Forest pass: YES
Parking fee: $5 without forest pass
Travel time from Portland: about 2 hours
Driving conditions: road to the trailhead has a fair amount of potholes and such. Drive is possible in a car but probably better to have a vehicle with clearance.

Just a heads up. It's hunting season. Worth the $5 to buy an orange hunting vest so you don't get shot. Ran into a couple hunters who informed me of hunting season and let me borrow a vest. Better safe than sorry. Suspension bridge was awesome.

This portion of the trail was an easy stride and full of autumn beauty! Great year round trail.

Starting to get muddy, boardwalks slippy - still a enjoyable place to run

Great hike! We didn’t intend to do this one, but we were finished hiking Ape Caves and realized this was so close. The first two sections are pretty great...rather short...so totally doable. Parts were a little scary since it was so wet out. The bridge was quite frightening for someone who is afraid of heights. More than adequate amount of signage. I would recommend this hike when it is dry out. Gorgeous views. Did not attempt to hike the most difficult part, I read in forums that it’s quite dangerous when wet.

A little small but I like the seclusion of this park so close to Lacey and Olympia.

Gorgeous day, beautiful hike. The Johnston Observatory closes for the season in less than a week, so it wasn’t crowded at all. We only saw 10 other people on the trail today.

Great place , had a blast with kids , there is a playground , nice river running by , nice hike trails I loved it
