Excellent. Hiked the entire distance in one day - started at Stuart trail , finished at Snow lake trail head. Took 15 hrs ( swimming stop and rest breaks) a bit scary hiking last 4-5 miles in the dark.
Beautiful scenic yet challenging hike. Thank you to my friend Kristen who organized this adventure !

Hiked 8/13.

Awesome hike and such a beautiful view. I definitely recommend swimming.

I got engaged by the lake when we got to the top. I’m pretty sure Andrew (from the comment below) took pictures of our proposal. The pictures are absolutely amazing! Thank you again, Andrew!

Very steep trail with a big payoff in views. From the peak of Mt. Ellinor you can see Rainier, Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia, and the Olympic range. It is almost guaranteed you will also see mountain goats.

This is a yearly hike for me! Gorgeous views of Baker & Shuksan!!!

Amazing hike! First clear day in awhile due to all the fires. Saw 4 goats on top, 2 babies so stayed clear. Did this hike last week as well and visibility was pretty bad. Glad to be able to see Cushman and the canal.

Snow Lake is beautiful, lots of people on the trail. Not difficult so a lot of day hikers. Beautiful campsites and quiet at night.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep your dogs on leashes! This is WAY too hard of a hike to not see goats!! Also, one unleashed dog helped me loose my footing on the scramble up, resulting in a very sore ankle on the way down. This is NOT a good trail for dogs!

great trail can be muddy in parts

worth the trip down to the lake once you've "gotten to the top".

This trail absolutely destroyed my legs, went camping for 2 nights, Gorgeous scenery, but do not let the "light scrambles" confuse you. There were some parts where I should have hiked in a ladder. All in all the hike is beautiful but a very very strenuous all uphill/rock climbing hike

Awesome view and lots of wildlife!

There are 2 levels to this cave. The main tube (I think it's the lower cave) is really easy walk. We got bored with it and turned around. The other level ( upper cave) is pretty rough. The Rangers said that it is for more experienced cavers. People have had to be rescued due to concussions, broken bones and getting stuck. There's a wall that you have to climb over. Once you do that, there is no turning back and you have to continue onward. This was our first cave, so we didn't do that one. This is info that the Rangers shared with us. Have fun, but be careful!

SO MUCH FUN. I’m so used to trail hiking that this was such a fun break! We did the lower cave first, then walked up the hill and went DOWN the upper cave rather than up. The rock scrambles in the upper cave are so cool and tons of fun to climb up, but going DOWN there are a few 6-8 foot drops you have to get down that are a little complicated (I needed help down one of them because I couldn’t reach the foothold). USFS and NW Forest Passes not sold on site from what I could see, so make sure you buy ahead of time. I used a flashlight and the flashlight on my phone because I left my headlamp at home. Would definitely suggest a headlamp, possibly gloves, and hiking boots to make your life a little easier on the way. Also FOR SURE dress in layers! The caves hang out at about 45*F year round! Lots of bruises from the rocks but it was totally worth it, one of my favorite adventures I’ve done to date!

Hiked today, 8/15

I got up to the parking lot early, around 7:00am and was pleased to see the parking lot wasn’t busy at all. There were only two other hikers going up at the same time. I got to the top in 1 hr and 45 min. and my Garmin distance clocked it at 4.8 miles, so definitely a little longer than this distance says. Like a lot of other reviews, I’d say it’s more moderate than hard. There are some rocks you have to scramble over but it’s not too difficult. Weather was perfect in the morning. Views were blocked by the smoke from the fires but it was still beautiful. Highly recommend for a quick morning hike! Wish I would’ve kept going!

Absolutely beautiful hike with glimmering alpine waters, jagged snowy mountain tops and fluffy mountain goats. Beginner hikers may find it difficult because of the length and the rocky incline. The road to the trail has MANY potholes so be prepared for a bumpy ride! Get there before 8 on weekends because it gets busy!

Fabulous afternoon hike, swam in 2 lakes and enjoyed the spectacular views.

Great day hike! For sure harder than I thought it would be. The view is worth it for sure!

Beautiful hike, it was very smokey on 8/14 so the views could be much improved on a clear day but still a great hike. The hike itself is moderate difficulty, I think what may make it harder is the length.

We started at the Stuart Lake Trail Head working our way up to Colchuck Lake. This is an outstanding hike, unfortunately the smoke got in our eyes, a lot of smoke in the are which interfered with views but worth it!

Went up this past weekend; although it was cloudy the panoramic of the Cascades was still stunning! A favorite for sure. Quite a bit of bugs so bring some bug spray.

Had a great hike with KR on 8/14. We started from the lower trail head. The trail started easy and slowly the grade increased. For the last km form the summit the trail was rocky and quite demanding. We saw a mountain goat at the top. We took the summer tail in and out and it took us 5 hours. This would have been a 5 Star hike but views were limited due to smoke from area Forrest fires. It was still worth it and a great first hike in Olympia Park.

The views along the trail were incredible, despite the smoke hanging in the air from the wildfires in the region which obscured some of the more distant mountains. The drive up from Icicle road has some amazing views and road is in good shape. Parking permit is $5. Took two and a half hours to reach the lake from the parking area. Didn’t encounter many bugs. Views at the lake were stunning, the water was brisk but refreshing; definitely worth bringing a bathing suit!

While enjoying the view I was unwittingly recruited to take photos for a lake-side proposal. He picked a great spot for it! I wish the happy couple all the best!

Doesn’t get much better.

Gorgeous

I wish I'd done this on a clearer day, I'd been looking forward to it all summer. I hiked it yesterday, 8/12, and it was both cloudy and hazy from fire smoke. I knew it would be, but decided to be optimistic and try it. At least the bugs were not too bad!
I would say that the hike itself is not quite worth it unless the scenery from the top is clear, as I've heard the views are quite amazing on good weather days. I found the hike to be tedious and a bit unexciting, though the steep rock scrambling near the top is pretty fun.
I'll blame the weather on being underwhelmed. I plan to try again in the future!

With each up and down, each bend traversed, all were meet with soaring mountain peeks, beautiful rock formations and gorgeous lakes scattered through out.
Between the spectrum of beautiful colors, the diverse changes of landscape ....I don't have the right words.to describe. This hike needs to be only experienced.
Good day, great hike!

Awesome hike! We took our 5 year old and he did awesome. There were some hard parts with climbing rocks but he made it through the whole trail! I suggest flash lights, gloves for climbing the rocks and hiking boots, no flip flops.

Great hike. Beautiful views.
