Hiked these trails, and also other trails. Good hike and workout!

A great trail, and did not encounter anyone as it was a cooler day. Good hike!

Short hike with gradual elevation. Good workout!

Great hike, and workout.

challenging in all the right parts. beautiful throughout. not too long. great Sunday hike

Absolutely loved this hike!! Great views!

This is my favorite at Crowder's. Tons of exposed rock. I like going down the stairs instead if up.

Very nice unobstructed view of Charlotte skyline and surrounding plains. Kinda unique since this mountain stands on its own without others around. Short but somewhat steep hike with a tiny bit of rock climbing to get to the final view. Keep walking right along the ridge from there to get better views. You’ve found the summit when you get to a rusted metal pole sealed in concrete.

Great hike

Good hike. Did the loop.

Great day for a hike even with fog after a rainy morning especially with 17 people!!

Fun, short, hike that will get your heart rate up and reward you with some nice views at the top. I would classify this trail as moderate. It's just under a mile one way. The last few hundred yards are comprised of 300 steps. Don't let that deter you. My knees don't get along well with stairs but I was fine. Just go at a comfortable pace for you and you'll be fine. The parking at the trailhead fills up early on weekends (even in December) so probably best as a morning hike. Dogs are allowed on a leash. I saw young kids, older folks, and motivated trail runners all equally enjoying this hike. I just wish I lived closer so I could do it more often.

Finally made it here for a hike on a crisp but clear December day. Thoroughly enjoyed it, would do again! I'd rate this hike as moderate, not difficult. It's not at significant altitude and it has less than 1000 feet of elevation gain. The trail begins from the visitor center parking lot and is very well marked with a round orange blaze. The trail is well maintained but I'd suggest boots, especially for the rocky parts at the top. I brought hiking poles but really didn't use them, but if you have bad knees they would help on the descent. I am 55 years old and had no issues hiking this trail and I think anyone in reasonable shape can do it by just going at a pace comfortable to you. The last 100 yards or so is "steep" but nothing to worry about, just go at a pace comfortable for you. It took about an hour to get up at a leisurely pace. The views from the top were great! I could clearly see the Charlotte skyline and the mountains of western NC in the distance to the west. Going down was fairly fast but be careful of your footing in the first quarter mile down. A thoroughly enjoyable hike, I'd definitely do again.

Physically demanding but rewarding. This trail is very steep in the last 1/4 mile and sucks the wind out of you, but the view at the top makes it all worth it.
Pro Tip: Trekking poles are a huge advantage on this hike.

short hike with a moderate elevation. the view from the top is nice.

Pretty fun and easier trail considering the views at the top. Like many others have said 3/4 of the trail is pretty light, the last 1/4 being the most work. Got up in about 45 min-1 hour just in time to catch sunset then about 30 down. Glad we decided to swing by while on our way to Charlotte.

Excellent hike! Went up the main trail to the lookout, went down the Backside trail on the way back. (Mainly due to my legs being pretty much shot. Haha)
Was just a beautiful sight when you get there, definitely worth the effort!!

Came out to take a few pics. November hikes are the best.

I took this trail from the Backside Trail and hiked 5 miles to the Pinnacle Summit. 5 miles back. Planned on hiking to the main summit on the way back, but didn't make it...ran out of gas.

Awesome hike! Highly recommended!

great hike today. Nice cool weather and a beautiful scenery went to get to the top of Crowders Mountain. the trail is marked well. The only challenge is the leaves laying on the trail made it difficult to know where to place the feet because of the rocks underneath

I was honestly surprised at the level of difficulty of this hike when you get right to the top. That last hundred feet or so is quite something! But what a payoff...the view from the top is simply spectacular. How great that there is this kind of elevation just a short drive from downtown Charlotte! Highly recommend.

Pretty great views and the rock structures are great for running and jumping.

Running and jumping through the rock structures is a blast! Views from the cliffs are pretty incredible for the area. The tower took away from the natural beauty a bit but overall it was decent hike.

Fun trail... beautiful views especially with the fall leaves. Lots of dogs which i loves. I didn’t like the loud music some patrons were playing...I believe there should be a rule about that. It disrupted our hike.

It was late afternoon by the time we reached Rocktop trail from the Sparrow Springs parking lot. Fallen leaves can make for unsure footing on the rocks but it wasn’t a difficult trail. We enjoyed the expansive views and spiny rock formations along the spine of the mountain.

I wouldn’t take young children on Rocktop trail due to steep drop-offs.

Rocktop trail meets a gravel road that leads up to Rocktop Tower. You have to trace the righthand side of the tower to reach Crowders Mountain Trail. From the summit you descend stair steps then follow a manicured, shady trail to return Sparrow Springs parking lot.

Did this hike early on a cool Sunday morning with my parents. They are in their 60’s and we needed to take breaks for knees and lungs :) The trail is beautiful. Steep at points. But the pay off with the views are spectacular. The leaves were changing colors — magnificent!
