Hiking

Crowded until the first falls, and then quieter. Pleasant walk by a nice stream, with a bit of vertical.

Perfect trail for a recovery day. Very wide walking path so not easily crowded. Moderate ascent for about a mile once you make it to the actual loop and then an easy descent. Most of trail is alongside a river with a handful of waterfalls. Plenty of shaded areas from the canopy of trees while the trail leads you on an incline. The trailhead has a perfect spot to picnic and plenty of parking available at the trailheads during peak hours.

HikingGreat!

What an incredible trail. It’s straight up elevation for 3.3 miles with fun water features. But the overlook? So worth the grueling effort! We picnicked at the overlook + highly recommend you do too!

Great trail, especially as it was really quiet. Very nice forest hike but plenty of sun and fantastic view at the top - great spot for lunch.

HikingGreat!

This was a great hike. I haven't hiked since January and everyone on the trail could tell. I was winded the whole way up. I went on April 2nd, started around 10am. I only saw 3 or 4 people on the way up but saw a slew of people on the way back down. Took about 2 and a half hours up and an hour fifteen minutes down. Overall awesome hike. The views at the top are some of the best of the Smokies I have seen.

HikingGreat!

The hike was very easy to follow all the way up. Great views at the top. Only saw one person the whole hike. Tons of beautiful water falls. Fairly steep but not technically challenging at all. It took us two hours to get to the top and one hour to hike down. We completed it on 3/27/21 and the weather was perfect.

We are intermediate hikers and hit the trail mid morning. Only saw a couple people on the way up. About 50/50 with masks. The views were gorgeous at the top! The incline was steady but worth a few stops to make it to the lookout. Bring a hat and some sunscreen!

Well marked trail. After 5.5 kilometers there is a sign that leads you to the overlook. Beautiful view. Took us about 2 hours up with a few stops (it is all up) and a little over an hour to get down.

Overall a great trail. Beginning is heavily trafficked, but as you get further along the loop it was very quiet.

We added Juney Whank to this hike to round out a beautiful day. We stopped at all three falls and enjoyed a quite, moderate hike. Unfortunately we encountered no less than 6 mouth breathers who disrespect park rules and brought their dogs. Some weren’t even leashed. This is why we can’t have nice things.

We were supposed to do just the Deep Creek Loop Trail. Ended up doing the Deep Creek Loop Indian Creek trail. Regardless each trail was listed as 4.7-4.9 miles. What this does not account for is the mileage to the trailhead from the parking lot. We went from the parking lot, up the path along the river which is listed as the trail (the other entrance says horse trail) around, up the summit, back down and then took a wrong turn before the last steep incline and ended up back on the river trail to head out. At the point we deviated we were already at almost 7 miles. By the time we got to our car you can see we were at 8. We are sore. Muddy. And mad at the world but in hindsight we have so many awesome memories we wouldn’t trade for anything. But we won’t admit that until the pain and blisters die down.

Decent incline all the way up but the view was beautiful! It was muddy in some spots but we didn’t use any equipment. Did it in under 3 hours. It was a great workout!

Great hike some easy walking in places and shorter incline to make it moderate level hiking. You are near water almost the whole hike and get to enjoy 2 Waterfalls. If you add in another mile and Juney Whank Falls you can see 3. A few places along the trails to stop and have a light lunch while enjoying the view.
