Beautiful short trail. Perfect sunny day. Snow was really packed making it icy in some places but not bad at all.

March 3 hike was beautiful, but the last stretch towards Lower Mohawk Lake was a little too sketchy for me. Not much hard pack there. I regretfully had to turn around just after the cabin before the top, because there was nobody else around, didn’t seem very safe. Otherwise almost the entire trail and Spruce Creek Road are both super easy in boots without snowshoes. Highly recommend poles, got icy in parts especially on the way back in late afternoon.

Great snowshoe in January 2018!!

Beautiful views but you need to earn them. I hiked this trail in late February and definitely recommend snowshoes / spikes. The snow was fairly deep and we had to turn around eventually.

Great snow-shoeing trail!!

1/30/18 Hiked this trail with some friends from the East Coast(I’m local) and we all enjoyed the views. Half of the trail is covered in snow and the other is is paved. I’m glad I was recording because at one point the trail split and we went the way where the snow was most packed(assuming it being most traveled), which ended up being wrong. We had to find the trail by cutting across untouched snow which was up to our knees. It was all worth it. Not a lot of people on the trail and got some great photos.

Great hike to bring your furry friends along! The views are wonderful, especially from the ridge trail. The gravel road was mostly clear of snow, but once you turn off on the ridge trail, the snow get a little deep. Great views!

its a nice little trail with amazing views. its a super easy walk with minimal elivation change. its a great walk for someone who's just gotten to the altitude from sea level. only 0.6 miles long its great for the entire family. the only down side to the trail is winter conditions can make it hard to get to if you dont have 4x4 or snow tires.

Took about an hour total, stopping for many pictures along the way. The snow on the trail is packed down which makes for an easy hike. Not steep or strenuous at all! Beautiful views and many spots to capture them!

great scenery. part of the ridge was closed but there is light trail that works around.

We saw moose! Unbelievably beautiful and memorable trail.

I hiked it after a morning snow. The trail was snowy but packed down enough to hike with just my yak tracks and hiking poles. I tried to go down the other side of trail when I reached the turn around but snow was too deep unless you have snowshoes or x-skiis. The hike in the woods was nicer anyway. Good hike with a decent elevation gain. Pretty wooded area with snow capped trees.

Great hike. Easy to follow trail up until it starts becoming steep going to the first lake. I did the climb following animal tracks. Really cold and windy but it's so beautiful and quiet at the top.

Great hike - beautiful views and lakes

Great trail, we went with the pups and did a little snow hiking. Highly recommend sticks and shoes that won’t make you slip around on the ice.

Gorgeous, fun Winter trail run. I wore Kahtoola micro spikes for sure footing. Pretty views on a runnable Winter trail.

We wanted an “easier” trail close to Frisco and we chose this trail. We went up the ridge trail and it was STUNNING. As for easy it would probably be more like easy to moderate because there is some incline and a few rocky areas. We laughed because we were the only hikers without dogs! It took us 2 hours with stops along the way to take in the view. Loved it. But I am easy to please.

Challenging incline for Floridians, but certainly worth it. Amazing views and the old mine was interesting to see.

Definitely harder than expected. Our first “mountain” hike, and got pretty winded on the way up. Got to Lower Mohawk at 4pm and snowy clouds started to roll in and the sun started to set behind the peak, which meant slippery and cold conditions for the decent if we didn’t leave after the lower lake.
Next time we go we will be leaving earlier in the day and pace ourselves more to make it to the upper Lake! It was 6.8 miles to and from the lower Lake.
Definitely worth the hike for the views though!

Lots of powder and ice, but wife and I did it without need for traction. Amazing views.

Wife and I hiked every inch of it...every overlook and side trail. I would stick to the ridge trail and go out and back rather than getting on the gravel path near the reservoir. Views from ridge trail are great!

beautiful views from this very short trail. Definitely worth stopping here

With the altitude change the hike started to feel harder but well worth it. Amazing mountain views, lakes, and waterfalls. My pup loved it too! Breathtakingly beautiful!
(A lot of people hike this, we kept passing a lot of people)

Great walk but a bit icy up top and especially on the loop dirt road on the way down. Great views at top but note high winds and low temperatures topside. Saw many on the climb with inadequate clothing and shoes. Would recommend poles and grips but a really nice hike nevertheless. Next time would return via trail not roadway. Gps measured round trip from trailhead at 6.2 miles. As with other reviews top of trail not well marked with some tricky icy rock formations to negotiate especially on way back down

falls were partly iced over. very relaxing hike

Icy at this time of the year but manageable. Great time

Super icey, but so worth it for the views. Trails hard to see with the snow and icey patches. But awesome once you get to the top! The logged cabin was so cool to look at and definitely a place to go again. Probably a lot easier with no snow. Loved it!

Short, easy walk with beautiful views!

Fantastic hike near Breck. A good amount of snow built up on the trail was easy to navigate until you get to the lower Mohawk lakes where it got pretty tricky and we turned around when it got too deep/post holing. Definitely will be coming back to get to the upper lakes as the views are incredible in all directions once you get up high. Will be back when it will be much easier to do without snow.

We did the wide 3 miles from the trailhead straight out to the reservoir. It was cool, windy and an easy walk. We went mid-morning and there were very few people out there. The views are amazing. Perfect for out-of-towners looking for a good view and an easy hike.
