Nice views and good elevation change, great mix of snow, slush, ice, mud and dirt.. definitely kept us on our toes!

Kind of steep but beautiful

first part of trail is great but then 2nd half is just a service road. saw a few deer and a hawk.

Sweet 13er (I guess it counts as one?) Windy with plenty of snow/ice on the trail today. An easy summit overall, took under 2 hours total.

This was a good hike. Pretty steep right from the get go. We took a lot of breaks. Good views along the way. Not overly crowded on the trail, but parking was pretty hard to come by on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Coming back up from the river was the hardest part for me. All in all, 4 hours well spent.

Pretty low traffic and amazing views. Didn’t see any wild life but the river was awesome. Along the river there are a few picnic tables.

This was my first hike after moving from the midwest. It was a nice trail, took the dog with us, got my heart rate going right off the bat and we took it nice and slow. Probably not the best first hike for someone who hasn't hiked much, we didn't make it all the way to the end, but we will next time!

Great Hike with views of hundreds of peaks and down 3 individual valleys, about 3 steep accents which was a bit tricky in the snow/ice, but generally a fairly basic walk. Be prepared for the altitude as that can make you short breathed easily.

Difficulty: Medium

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Has some really neat rocks at the top and has great views. As far as I know, there's no trail from the saddle to the summit.

A fun trail, the beginning truly is a straight incline. Ankle deep snow at the worst today (October 20), a bit slick coming down. We definitely fell for the false summit so consult your map to ensure you make it to the top.

Added it on to the Mt. Sanitas loop to make the hike longer (4 1/2 total). Nice way to start. Parking lot had plenty of space at 8 am.

10/19/18 Started at 11 back by 2 with plenty of rests. Snow on 90% of the trail. Microspikes and poles would’ve been helpful. Only saw a few people the whole way. Great views the whole hike. 1st mile is straight up but after that a bit easier and beautiful scenery.

Love this hike. Breathtaking views valley

Did this trail after some snow, beautiful on the way up and at the top! Gets pretty steep and challenging towards the tree line, be prepared to stop and catch your breath. Because of the snow, I was not able to make it all the way to the top (did not have the right equipment) but above tree line the views are still amazing. Definitely doing this again later with the right equipment to reach the top! I can easily say this is my favorite spot now in Colorado.

Beautiful views! Hardly anyone on the trail once you get up the first steep incline. Our dog loved it!

Awesome trip up! We are beginners and have only hiked the past two days and this was super challenging but well worth it. Views are incredible

If you're looking for a challenging hike and some great exercise this is the hike for you! Unfortunately, when we reached the summit we had very limited visibility of the boulders - however, the hike as a whole was beautiful and there were a ton of yellow Aspens. The entire hike we only passed about 4 people total which also made this hike that much better.

Nice trail for a leisurely stroll. Super short but beautiful at the top. Great for a short morning walk. Kid-friendly!

very nice trail just very crowded and parking costs 3.00 every two hours or so, starts all uphill then kinda eases towards the end

Great hike for my 4 young kiddos with someone along to help. For a good section of the trail- there is quite the drop off on one side. Makes for a few heart palpitations when the kids got too close. They loved watching all the rock climbers across the way.

Nice short hike, we went up the rocks to get to the top and hiked around the rocks for a while. Perfect for pictures! The rocks are gorgeous. Nice hike for being so close to town. Surprisingly, we only ran in to one person while we hiked the whole time. Good workout! Not for elderly or overweight for sure!

This is a very enjoyable hike. Parts of it are steeper then I expected, but I'm a flatlander so anything with an incline is steep. There is a "new" section that has been cut, off of the Walker Ranch Trail Loop parking area. Not sure how long it has been this way.

This is NOT A lightly trafficked trail. There were throngs of people. I suppose it’s nice if you’re a local, but I would not drive out of my way to come here again. If I hadn’t driven two and a half hours already, I’d have left when we had to drive away from the park and find side-street parking in a neighborhood.

Beautiful trail. In my opinion it's a moderate hike, nothing too challenging. The scenery is just magnificent, but the trail is not always marked very well. i started on a Saturday, 7 a.m. There were very few cars in the (pretty big) parking lot. After my return at 11 a.m., there were still quite a few spots available.

Beautiful. Once you get above treeline this is one of the most beautiful places in CO.

Pretty hike but in no way easy. To my mind "Easy" would mean I can take Grandma and Grandpa for a walk in the woods with the kiddies. This is "Easy" relative to climbing a fourteener, but it's steep and I was concerned my shoes (trail runners with tread) would hold on the rocky inclines and declines with the loose scattered rocks. As to being strenuous yes, it was a pretty good little 30 minute workout, I would liken parts of it to going up about four flights of stairs before leveling out. If you're out of shape or over weight, or elderly this is probably not a good choice. But it is surprisingly wooded for being so close to town. .

Love it! You can see the mountain climbers most days. Feels like you are miles away from civilization. It is a busy trail but we often go after work and frequently don’t see many hikers. There are rattle snakes and wildlife. I’ve seen bear, deer, moose and snakes several times.

beautiful hike!!! loved that all dogs must be on leash or risk $300 fine no exceptions. For those of us with tricky dogs this was a wonderful find!!

go counter clockwise! It still has some steep climbs but it will help you avoid climbing the steep stairs.

loved the water and lots of trees! great hike! will definitely be back

got there at 10 am on Friday plenty of space in the parking lot.
