Beautiful autumn colors along the shore. I wish the trail (which is more like a dirt road big enough for a car) were closer to the river overall. Petroglyphs neat but perhaps underwhelming after all that hiking. Unless you're looking, you might miss them. The first clue is a smaller rock to the right... then several on the left. Most drawings face away from the trail, so spotting the rock on the right is important! The trail offers no shade and it's not marked. I saw no waterfall...maybe it's seasonal?
Bring a lunch and lots of water...and be prepared to pee behind a bush if you need to go... No facilities except at the parking lot. Be familiar with the map before you leave. Must cross the dam to start the hike...go to the left. Beautiful scenery, but I probably won't do this one again.

The trail is very well maintained and relativly easy to climb. My 4 and 6 yr old had no issues. There are some geocahes and letterboxes on the hike to make it more fun.

I didn’t get to go all the way to the top because of how late I got to the trail. It was very challenging but very pretty! Would recommend to hike this in cooler months.

Very pretty!

Went in September, it was such a site to see. There is two ways in from bogus basin, left is a dirt road (faster) the other was a paved road. 4x4s can go left and don't recommend cars going left. App says kid friendly, my daughter who is 4 couldn't finish. If going in September bring cold weather clothes. Boise can be 90 and up there can be in the 5Os. 5 bucks to park your vehicle up there. Enjoy the amazing views to the north. Have fun

This was my first time out into the trails around Boise besides Table Rock. Loved this hike! It was shorter than I thought and might have to explore the expansion next time, but man the views at the top are unbeatable. It’s mid September so no flowers for now, but the fall colors and peaking through here and there and the weather is perfect.

gradual uphill climb until the last push to the lake, that one is tough. well worth the trip. quick downhill hone.

Wonderful Hike! Start early if you're doing a day hike and give yourself plenty of time so you're not rushing to try to beat the darkness...Beautiful Scenery!

Not a trail, its a road, 90% of it drivable with 2wd vehicle.

Loved the hike. If your out of shape it will take you about 90 minutes. We make the first lake in 50. Nice views as well!

The permissible hours of the Jump Creek Recreation area are STRICTLY enforced. An Owyhee County Sheriff officer said this is because of criminal and/or dangerous incidents that have occurred here in the past: accidental death, officer impersonation, attempted kidnapping, etc. Pretty scary stuff.
The current fine for trespassing off-hours is $156 and I’ve heard the judge rarely dismisses them, regardless of the reason. Several times I’ve seen an Owyhee County Sheriff truck parked above the parking lot waiting to issue tickets to anyone who lingers beyond the closing time.
I posted a pic of the hours sign. Although it is large it can be easy to miss on the drive in if you’re not looking for it.
That being said, the area is lovely during daylight, although it is popular. A lot of families, groups of teens, and young adults frequent here. Most users leave no trace, but you will likely see some litter. It’s a short, easy hike to the falls/swimming hole. Some sections of the trail are sandy and it’s easy to slip .. watch your footing.
The drive to the area is beautiful, particularly in the Spring. The falls are bigger in the Spring as well, however the trail is likely to be wet and therefore slippery so be careful.

Excellent and easy trial with a beautiful waterfall and small pool at the end. Dog and kid friendly. Great for a hot summer day!

It was a fun hike! it's a gradual incline most of the way up. the directions will have you park in a dirt parking lot but the hike is acrossed the street. it starts out as a different trail then turns into skyline.

Hiked last Sunday. Beautiful wildflowers and trees! Some dead trees from a recent fire. The hike is steep in parts, narrow, too. The lake is gorgeous! We spent about an hour at the lake, taking photos, lunching, and enjoying this beautiful creation. There's some loose gravel in the last quarter mile or so, be careful heading up and down. Totally worth the 2 1/2 hour drive!

The area is beautiful, my only complaint is parts of the trail you have to walk over briars and tumbleweed that makes the walk not as enjoyable.

Dam closes at 9 at the entry, trail is mostly in the sun so bring plenty of water.

Great trail! It can only be accessed through a forest service road, but aside from some washboards it was well maintained and I didn’t need 4 wheel drive to get there. And we did have to back track to a different forest service road because the one on google maps was closed. Turn at Edna creek and take the 384 to 348. The trail is beautiful and the lake was a great place to spend the day.

My 1st real hike, never seen High mountain lake before. Trailhead is hard to reach via forrest service road. Trail itself was definitely steep but quite scenic. Last half mile its all deadwood from forest fire last year. Lake was perfect temp for swim and full of fish. Downhill hike was a breeze tho!

It was such a beautiful hike and the wildflowers are still in full bloom! The dip in Jennie Lake is the icing on the cake. We will definitely be back!

The first mile of this hike is a little tough but it is so well worth it, the fields of flowers and the Crystal Clear Lake are spectacular.

Great family hike, took the 2 mile loop which has a lot of pretty flowers and views. Good to be out of the smoke and heat of Boise. It started to get hot on the back trail without a lot of trees.

It was a good chill hike. Was a bit longer hike cause big Smokey creek was rushing so the lower trail was cut off by the creek water was to high to cross. So we had to take the higher tail which made for a good hike.. if you like hot springs give it a try you won’t be disappointed..

This was a good hike with the sound of the stream running adjacent to the trail much of the way and pretty wildflowers. It was very warm on our hike and it made the it that much more difficult. The way up is a constant uphill grade and gave me a good workout. There were fish jumping in the beautiful lake and I was able to catch one! Quite a drive to get there but worth it IMO.

fairly easy grade. lots of flowers. don't use Google maps to route you to the trail head or you end up at a closed road. lake area is burned out.

Hiked this trail on the fourth of July. Wildflowers were out in abundance.

What a beautiful hidden gem out in the middle of the barren high desert! I will suggest if you hike the upper trail, that takes off from the upper parking lot, understand that it dead ends at a beautiful vista which offers a photo opportunity and not to the falls. Also wear proper hiking boots as the trail is very narrow and slippery.

I ended up being the first person there at 7:45am on Saturday 6/30/18! Crowd started rolling in around 9. Stunning waterfall. Very cold, but worth the dunk

Great trial, I would not call it moderate if you are carrying a pack and are over 40.The last bit before reaching the lake is strenuous. The fishing was fantastic, this isn't a moderately traveled trail. More like a very popular trail. All camping spots were filled Friday night. Saturday brought several groups of day hikers and Mountain bikers. Do not get the direction to the trail head from All Trails, leads to a closed road. Turn at Edna creek and follow the signs

Did not see a waterfall. Wear good hiking boots.
