Very busy trail. Lots of people and dogs everywhere. Trail is suitable for most all ages and levels. Some good elevation, rocks, and uneven ground but even my 5 year old was fine with it.

trail is easy walk with rolling hills. Do not try to park in the lot unless you have 4 wheel drive. Large potholes and if it is wet you will get stuck.

HikingGreat!

Great trail! Some elevation gain, but nothing too bad. The trail was busy, especially on our way back from the falls (mid-afternoon). There is a nice viewing platform of the falls at the end of the trail.

This was a really nice trail. We started on the right at the fork. It was a little busy at first, but slows down as we went along. We got off the trail at the fork and we were able t see the lake as we climbed. The other side of the loop was much nicer with an enchanted forest kind of feel to it. You do share the trail with people on bikes and people walking their dogs.

counterclockwise is a little rough at the end...especially if it's raining trail makers could be a little better in some sections but I had cell service the whole time so all trails kept us on track.

WalkingGreat!Rocky

You do have to keep and eye out for the trails. If you start planning to hike the shorter one which I think was yellow then it is easy to get on the orange trail which turns to almost a 9 mile hike. BUT my hiking buddy left the map in my car LOL It was COMPLETELY worth it though amd I will go again! Beautiful scenery and it’s free. You walk around the water fall amd creek a good bit of the way and you are able to see a lot of animals. Deer, otters, frogs, woodpeckers and more. Out of all of the places I e gone hiking In GA this is my all time favorite

I decided to do the trail clockwise to avoid finishing with a little rough uphill. Bad storms hit the area the night before, so I'm sure it was much wetter than usual. The first two miles downhill were very rocky (wear ankle support) and a small stream running through the path. The first 3.5 miles of the trail were along a (at the moment) roaring stream which was so worth the drive and trail. The next 3-4 miles were mostly woods. The AllTrails suggested recording strays from the Gahoti, ending up on a bike trail or two. In retrospect I'd follow the park map rather than the recording and stay strictly to Gahoti. The last third is peppered with views and cascading streams/waterfalls down the mountain. Some of the views are boardwalks accessed by those awful grated steps that hurt dog paws. Re: recent reviews, clearly a crew recently came through and cleared trees. I had all of one tree I had to step over in 12 miles. Overall a very good and diverse hike.

Hiking

This was a nice trail that was doable for my 7 and 4 year olds. My youngest needed help, but was able to walk the whole way. We went yesterday, so it was muddy in some spots, but the trail is pretty well packed. There are a lot of tree roots to watch out for and the trail is narrow which I imagine is hard for two way traffic. We went after the rain, we had it all to ourselves. If you have a choice of driving to the trail head from Blue Ridge or Cherry Log, I strongly recommend coming from Blue Ridge via Aska Rd. It’s all paved road. Coming from the south side, it’s all gravel.
