Fun trail for walking

trail running

When I first moved to Washington in early 2017, I discovered the Sammamish River Trail located right behind my apartment.

This trail helped me to find my love for running and I was easily able to up my miles from 3 to 20. Since then, I've used it for running, biking and roller blading.

It's a nice long stretch of paved road alongside the river. It does get crowded in certain areas during spring/summer but everyone seems to be pretty respectful of space and staying to the right. During the cooler seasons, it's definitely not as busy and if you're lucky you may just see some Otters like I did :)

The coolest part about this trails that you can go from downtown Redmond to the library to 60 acres park, Woodinville, you pass the Tolt pipeline trail & PSE PowerLine trail, and then into Bothell where it connects you to the Burke Gilman trail... OR you can go to Marymoor Park and connect to the East Lake Sammamish Trail.

Lots of bikes- good amount of shade. If you start at trail head given here in Orting, you can go left towards the Safeway which is 7.5 miles to the Puyallup trail head with lots of farms and runs along 162. If you go right, it's 12 miles to Buckley with lots of shots of the river and pastures. Both ways offer good views of the mountain. Smooth, easy ride with more stop signs and road crossings than I like. Still a nice ride or walk regardless.

Good trail for easy bike ride

Beautiful old growth timber. The trails are in good condition. This is a great family camping and hiking getaway.

It is paved and good for a smooth, no elevation ride

Is a clean ,easy long trail with nice views all the way and safe ! Perfect for kids , dogs or solo my 2 kids were in love of the place definitely another trail to come back !!!

Easy, peaceful trail. Well kept with benches and restrooms along the way.

Great ride on a gorgeous day. Went out early to avoid the crowds. Started in Orting and rode to South Prairie. Stopped for a strawberry smoothie at the local espresso stand and rode back. Beautiful views of the Carbon River.

My fave trail! Well maintained with good views of nature! River, horses, cows and emu! We will try biking here next time!

Very nice my trail. It is my favorite trail with green river trail.

Great for kids and dogs.

I love this trail! Sadly the path is blocked around the 8mile mark.

Great trail for families. Watch out for the bicycles though.

confusing in places, but overall nice little ride. having a bike shop in the middle was cool, you ride right by it. would be a good trail for a group ride.

just finished the southern 2/3 of this trail. not so hilly as the northern portion of the trail. It is confusing and not well marked, around some of the businesses.

Amazing running trail!!

Beautiful old growth

Great path through scenic woods. Wish there was a coffee/ice cream shop at either end.

One of my favorite trails for a nice scenic NW ride. Beautiful Rainier views and love the farms it rolls through.

Awesome for a walking group

I bring my daughter here for a very nice trail loop that is over 4 miles long. It is perfect for beginner riders or green horses. Laid back and easy for my senior horse. The horse trails are only open a few weeks out of the year.

to much traffic..other than that not bad

to much traffic...people are nice though

long fun trail. not much cover from the sun.

It's really good for Road Biking but it can be annoying to find the parking lot.
