This is a good hike. I wasn't prepared to share the trail with bikes. Lots of bikes. And much of the trail is over pasture with cattle grazing, so lots of cow patties and, you know, the aroma. The Sunset Beach Trail is my favorite option of the two, having done both.

I love this trail. It’s a nice shady trail. As another post says the trail can easily be extended. We did witness lots of wild life even late afternoon. Only minor issue was that it’s a horse trail so watch where you step as you go on the trail.

i gritty hike and some decent formations to view. the hike has two tough sections - near mt. olympia and new the summit. overall it can be a moderate for a pro to hard for occassional hiker. the summit and the ridge trail after my olympia can be windy. it can be a good training ground for longer hikes.

Great hike. I cannot wait to explore it more.

What a surprise this was! Great hike through rolling hills with lots of cows happily grazing. A nice little forested area at one point in the trail. Then at the trailhead, a really breathtaking view! The view overlooks the Limantour Spit and the water sheltered in between is home to many rays and sharks. We watched them from our perch atop Drake’s Head for a while before hiking back. It was like we had hiked to the aquarium! Very cool hike.

Some great views but whomever made the markings of this trail did a terrible job, it was very confusing. Also, I don’t think it was very difficult, not sure while it is labeled that way.
IF we went through the proper trail, started at Juniper trail then you have to hop on a couple of trails (forgetting the names of them now but luckily a park ranger helped us figure out where to go) then you go down to back out to the road and there is one tiny little sign that shows it’s the North Peak trail but then there is no other signs after that... you just keep going. Once we got to the top there was building of some kind off to the side and we walked around that and there is a nice Peak, it sure if that was North Peak... but like I said the red lines that show you how to get to the trail were terrible and confusing!!

This is a great loop. We start at 7am and very few people is any at this time.

Hurray, no dogs! The trail begins in town and traffic (park in a nicely paved lot to the left of Streblow Drive), and soon passes into a narrow path between two chain link fences as you escape civilization. After a bit of that, it opens up into a delightful, meandering, well-trod dirt & rock trail that goes all the way to Skyline Wilderness Park. It's definitely an easy hike, though not at all a waste of time.

Beautiful loop through a fairly diverse landscape, along rock formations, creeks, meadows, cow pasture, forest. Easy to extend the hike if you're motivated, we made it an 8 mile loop.

No dogs allowed.

So beautiful!! Bring a lot of water and go early. A lot of trails and mostly uphill. Walking stick would be useful. Watch for rattlesnakes we saw one on the trail and even saw a baby scorpion!

I live 3 miles from this trailhead. Great short 3 mike hike. If you go early Morning like I get to do it’s great, very little people. Falcons nest. Red tail hawk nest. Stellar’s Jays, Quail, Turkeys, lots of birds. The Ranger is a super nice guy.We have even seen a Bobcat.

Just don’t go in the afternoon with the crowds of loud groups of people.

My go to short hike.

Open, Fri, Sat and Sunday, lots of cows, open grassland and hills. High point is the view from the ridge. Distant points that can be seen: Diablo. Sierra's, including Pyramid Peak, Mt. Saint Helena, Mt. Veeder, Mt. Tam. and GG bridge towers, if you know where and when to look. Good intermediate hike. Watch for ticks and respect the cows:)

Nice, very few rocks.

Great views and you just feel like you are in the wide open with no one around.

Great views all around! The first mile makes for an awesome workout...nothing but climbing!! Would love to live close to some climbs like this so I can do repeats as my evening workouts.
My party followed this route up to the summit then north peak. From there we went on the trail for the Grand Loop Trail.

Make sure you’re out of the gate before 5pm; but if you do get locked in there’s a hole in the chain link fence about 10 meters back that you can crawl through then hop the non-barbed wire fence to the south of the locked gate to get out.

Lot of parking options, go down near the stables (not the school) for your best options. The start of the hike is pretty average - not much to look at other than Castle rock. Crossed a few very small streams but easy to navigate without getting wet. The back half of the hike is pretty amazing - green wide open space and some interesting rock formations. Few more Mountain bikers & cows on this section but still peaceful

Good hike with awesome views.

Great trails! You can pick trails from easy to moderate. Some of the trails could be better marked. I especially enjoyed hiking amongst the cows!

Nice place for a quick hike. Not a lot of elevation gain if that’s what you’re looking for. Lots of mountain bikers so be careful on some of the trails. Would definitely recommend for a quick hike or just a nature walk.

FYI the Little Yosemite portion of the trail was marked with a sign that said no dogs.

awesome views

Closed, gate locked with a sign that says “entry only during posted park hours” that aren’t posted anywhere. 130 on a Sunday is a No I guess. ☹️

Even though the lack of signage made it confusing the views were gorgeous and the trail was challenging but not overly so in some areas. I'll definitely go back
