Beware, this is a challenging hike up to the falls, add 1000 feet to the elevation, some loose gravel switchbacks that ran close to edges that plunged. 1.5 hours, couldn’t make it down dirt slide to falls, even with hiking poles. That said, it was beautiful and we passed bighorn sheep who turned and stared, unafraid. Bear and sheep scat. It was 111 degrees back at the car, bring water. Wished we’d been mentally prepared for the challenge, hence 4 stars. Parts looked a bit like a Sierra Nevada climb. The National Park service map seems to have dropped a digit on the altitude, this is steep.

Combined most rim hike by starting State Line trail, very nice loop ending back at State Line. Pretty level, SW colors, water way down. 1 hour 15 minutes including getting lost a little bit.

Added on Ranger’s Delight for further hike, upon ranger’s suggestion, gorgeous rim, canyons and colors. Bighorn Sheep scat and that of a coyote, probably. 100 degrees, mostly level, little like SW, pretty. Lost trail couple of times, easy to find posts again. 1 hour 15 minutes.

Amazing views along the hike with lots of Birds, flowers, butterflies and marmots. The wheel itself is quite spectacular.

Absolutely stunning. Pretty rough coming back up it with a toddler and 2 puppies though.

It was a great, simple hike. Easy getting down, a little strenuous coming back up to the parking lot. Water is ice cold!

Fairly easy trail it took me and my four year old around a hour and a half to make it from the overlook back to the truck. Good way to kill a day

got lost as fuck, don’t go unless you have a 4-wheel drive car.. there is barely any signs you’re going the right way.. walked mostly in muddy trails but saw a moose which was the highlight, we meant to go to porcupine falls but ended up going here 5 miles later... i don’t recommend if you’re not prepared and you absolutely have no fucking idea about directions or how to hike.. really sketchy and hard to stay on track

Trail was a bit hard to follow, but it's easy to bushwhack your way back to the road. Great view of the canyon and the river! Make sure to watch out for cacti.

Wonderful hike. Steep but no scrambling. Amazing cascade waterfall at the top. Incredible views throughout!

It was a good hike. There was snow and I lost the trail. Eventually crossed a road and down a hill to Bucking Mule Creek. After realizing my mistake, I had to hurry to get to the overlook and back to the parking lot. I saw deer and elk on this walk.

I have hiked this trail a few times. There are some steep places, but no dangerous passages. The view is outstanding as it progressively increases in altitude. The headwaters area is fantastic, with many plants not common in our area.

Steep climb up to a beautiful waterfall, it's an shaded oasis after the sunny dry hike. the hike went pretty fast and was very worth it.

A nice walk, even for flatlanders.

The hike itself wasn't anything spectacular, although it was very smokey when I visited (I heard on a clear day you can see out to the Tetons!). However, the Medicine Wheel itself is very interesting. Would recommend.

Fun scenic, hike. A bit of a challenge with rocks to climb over and steep inclines to negotiate. But the view at the end is amazing! The trail was a bit hard to follow at times.

If you have to pick just one hike, take the State Line Trail. It is a bit easier, more scenic with a great view of the canyon. The view at the end of the Ranger's Delight trail barely overlooks the river and canyon. This hike was also a bit more strenuous than the State Line Trail and not as scenic.

About 5 miles round trip from the TH to the Overlook. You do have the option to extend this into a longer hike (I think it's 14.5 miles one way). There is a trail sign with mileage just before the overlook area. Easy hike with great view of Bucking Mule Falls / Devil's Canyon area. Don't forget Porcupine Falls while your in the area !

Short, steep out and back. Take your time and a swim suit. The view is spectacular. There is a short spur which runs from the lot to an outcropping/overlook where you can look down into the canyon and the water pool but be careful. Head on down to Bucking Mule Falls (3-miles down the gravel forestry road) and keep an eye out for moose !

Short hike which is good because the climb out is tough. A lot of maintenance done putting in stairs which help but it's still a climb. Definitely worth it!

Great hike! View from the top is great even though you don't get very close to the falls.
