Busy trail with great views.

Overall about a 3-hour hike. Loved the views, sounds, and cactuses along the way. It’s a bit steep, more towards the end. The top view is totally worth it! Be sure to get there early to get a parking spot.

Great hike with beautiful views every step of the way! We started out around 8am on a July day and had a nice breeze and plenty of shaded spots throughout our hike.

Great trail to start off Big Bend with for me, nice and easy climb to the summit, great views from the top, I did hike in middle of July with about a 4:30pm start in 98 degree heat, only drank 2 liters of water. Hike was fairly quick but I did spend a lot of time up top with my GoPro. Definitely recommend this for even the beginner hiker.

Steep at times, this is a nice trail with some great views towards the end. People afraid of heights will be ok, they just might not want to stand to close to the edges. Lots of switchbacks, but nothing too serious. Small parking lot, so get there early to get a spot and avoid the crowds. We passed tons of people on our way down.

We did this trail in early March with my 3 little kids and it was easy and a lot of fun! Perfect for families!

Second time doing this hike. The most popular in Big Bend for good reason! One of my favorite parts is if you hike early you get to be in the shade for most of the hike- which is a rarity in the park. Our five year old kids were able to complete it on their own (with minimal cajoling).

Enjoyable moderately easy hike. Can be done quickly but best with several stops along the way as it offers several great views along the route. Nothing treacherous along the way and the views at the top are great!

A must see when visiting The Big Bend !!

Very easy and nice trail. Ends right at a little beach and you can walk out into the river. I highly recommend it

Beautiful hike. Wonderful views on the summit. I'm 58 years old and took several breaks on the way up and made the climb just fine. Do expect a slightly steeper and more difficult path grade near the top. This is my favorite trail in the park!

Great trail!

Relatively easy hike, coming up to the canyon is pretty awe inspiring to see the huge looming walls. The hike into the canyon is pretty cool but its along a well established path on the side. You don't have to wade through any water unless you want to at the very end of the trail.

Starts with a six mile drive down a dirt road to get to the trail head. The road is an improved road, which means no 4x4 is necessary but can be bumpy due to the washboards. The hike itself is easy for the first 3/4 of a mile, but the last bit requires a little bit of a climb. There are markers that guide you once you get into the rocks and the foot traffic is evident enough that you can see where to go. The 360 view at the top is pretty cool and the balancing rock is cool to see. Although, I thought the rock was gonna be bigger than it actually was. Overall, a fun easy hike if you are in a time crunch like we were.

Initial portion of the hike is highly inclined. Be careful not attempt to much parkour in risk of tiring yourself out. Echos in the Canyon are superb, try sneezing!!

Easy hike, only a little climb towards the end to get to the balanced rock, but nothing difficult!

Did this with my entire family, ranging in age from 24 to 64. Great hike, manageable with beautiful views at the end. Plan to finish by 4 pm as it can get foggy or rainy and obscure the views.

Lots of fun! Steeper than I thought but easy to do with stairs. The end is very rewarding as you get to go in the river.

Not one of my favorites, but an ok trail. Good for families. You can't get into the canyon like the Santa Elena canyon trail. Also, you have to fend off a persistent Jesus "the singing Mexican".

Not a technically difficult hike, but easy is a relative term. There is an incline. It's paved concrete with some steps. Nice overlook at the top.

Easy trail. There's some historical buildings & some pictographs up on the side of a cliff. The hot spring is ...well not my cuppa. It had about 8 guys drinking beer in it. Just......no. Enjoyed the trail. It's good for families with small children. Just don't let them near that cesspool - oops - hot spring!
The drive there is nerve racking. The road is gravel & halfway there splits. You're driving on a narrow gravel one way road through a ravine until it comes together again. The parking lot is generous, but was full when we went on a late Sun afternoon in April.

My husband's favorite hike. Easy mile in, then rough rocky incline to the balanced rock (about .2). Great views. The road getting there is challenging. Lots of ruts & washouts. Take you time & above all, don't try traveling the posted speed (25mph).

My favorite trail at Big Bend. If you can only go a mile - do it! Great views. Get there early - the too small parking lot fills up fast.

Stunning views from the top! Steady climb up but plenty of rest points with benches to take a water break and enjoy the different view points.

beautiful throughout. you do have to drive about 7 miles down an undeveloped road. as of this review, okay if you are careful in a regular car (i was in an Altima). road is much better than the Dagger Auto Trail which is tricky with lots of washes, low clearance areas in last 2 to 3 miles in

Great hike into the Canyon with some challenging deep holes in the canyon. It would take some serious climbing, perhaps with climbing gear, to get all the way to the river.

Beautiful views all the way up as the sun rises through the early morning. The views from the top offer long distance vistas as well as much closer interesting geological shapes. The volume of trees growing in the shaded canyon to the east of the very top trail was an interesting surprise.

Beautiful trail with open, unobstructed views. Trail well maintained even with heavy foot traffic .
