Very beautiful! a hidden treasure of a park in the middle of farmland. I would consider some of these trails as HARD due to how steep sections are, definitely had to crawl with all fours because it was that rocky and steep. Got pretty winded too.

Only problem was the dog poop other than that love this trail!

It's so pleasant to hear the rushing water while you're walking!

Nice short loop.

Great day hiking. Trails are icy. You need ice cleats.

Incredible hike but I wouldn't classify it as easy, definitely more in the moderate range. Lots of hills and climbs, very rocky paths. Our kids had no issues and we all enjoyed it, but it was definitely an adventure. Amazing scenery and nature.

Awesome hike. Trail for the most part is well maintained. Gets hard to follow when you first get to Whale Lake, but just keep going straight. You'll feel the last 1/2 mile in your legs but easily doable. Finished roundtrip in just about 3 hours.

Fun, quick, scenic

Great hike. Beautiful fall day, overcast, 50 degrees. A number of muddy spots to step through or step around. Lots of rocks and tree roots to deal with. One water crossing to be made, guaranteed to get your feet wet. Five hour round trip for two 65 year-olds including a half hour lunch at the top.

Love this place! Had a great time with my kid here. Be a responsible parent and watch your children. There are some dangerous places a child could end up if not supervised. Well kept trails, and very beautiful scenery. Highly recommend!

Love this place for hiking. Unfortunately, people don't realize how beautiful their parks are, or never visit them.

This is an easy loop for sure. It's great when there's lots of water in Minnehaha creek as the falls are impressive then. I've only seen it then in photos, not in person. You walk to the end where the confluence of the creek meets the mighty Mississippi. The day I was there the flow was pretty low over the falls. But it was a nice walk in the fall and worth doing.

On the hiking club trails, I would say this is a HARD trail, the elevation changes are steep. It’s a great great hike and a ton of fun but not sure I would say moderate. Still an all out beautiful and fun day even in the middle of November!

Very rocky and footy. Wear good shoes. Incline isn’t bad at all, I’d rate this a moderate difficulty with some terrain to manage. With kids we did it in 3 hours out/back. Great views from the top.

Really nice trail. Signs can be confusing for some of us! Different length loops in Park. Pretty consistently hilly compared to most Minneapolis trails, but not too difficult. Nice change!

Not super scenic, except for some bridges and then obviously the summit. Beautiful in the fall, but it gets crowded closer to midday. In the early summer, its muddier and more vegetation. Looks like a good trail to see moose, but I have not in two hikes so far. Bring water and good boots!

Nice hike, the portion south of the road was pretty wet yesterday.

Very easy going and the view of the water was calming

Kids (5, 8, 13) loved this trail! Not too hard for the little guys, but long enough to wear them out ;) Well-maintained, lots of benches for resting, trash cans along the trail.

One of the best State Parks south of "up north". The overlook on the north side is worth the climb up.

Very good park, very good trail. I love the waterfall after heavy rains. Fall is a great time to go here.

The Trout Creek bridge on the west side of the Cascade River is out and the creek can't be crossed due to recent heavy rain. As a result, west side of this loop trail is currently inaccessible.

Nice trail. Easy to get to. Parking and trailhead spacious with toilet and trail info.

The hike itself is not very strenuous, but the footing is very uneven due to the tree roots and rocks making it a bit tricky. It had rained a little over a half inch a couple days prior to my hike making it a bit muddy in places but overall it dried out well. The reward is near the summit with some nice vista views just below the peak. It's a great place to enjoy a little lunch or snack and soak in the views.

If you're trying to determine how long this hike will take, I'm 61 years old and it took me 1.5 hours to reach the summit and 1.25 for return to trail head. I wouldn't consider myself to be a fast hiker so hopefully that helps those wondering how much time to plan for. Have fun. Again it's a nice hike and not as claustrophobic as some have suggested in previous posts.

Great trail if you're looking for a good workout. Steep and rocky, but beautiful.

Hard but worth it

Great hike. Well worth it

This was a fun trail with gorgeous views of Whale Lake and looking Southwest from Eagle Mountain. I would call it moderate in difficulty. there are a lot of rocks, but it was easy to navigate them.

Great park. Excellent sights and scenery. Very worth the trip.
